Drinking Liberally This Thursday

Filed in Uncategorized by on March 25, 2008

Drinking Liberally has been a great time to meet the people in our little community in the past 6 months. I have met most of our regular commenters at one of them or another (even TPN). Hopefully, this month will be no exception. The location this time is The Deer Park Tavern in Newark. Since it is March 27th, we will be drinking to the one year anniversary of John Atkins’ tearful resignation. How do I remember that, you ask? It is also my birthday. I plan to have Mrs. Geek in tow this time and the little geeklets will be with Grandma and Grandpa Geek for a few hours.

So come on out at 8PM on Thursday the 27th to help celebrate the rampant liberalism in Delaware as all good things should be celebrated, with beer (or wine).

Update:  Donviti has apparently been working on his hand shake and will be shaking hands with 99% of the people in attendance.  He will not shake hands with anyone whose name rhymes with Schmulie though.

  1. disbelief says:

Would it frickin’ kill you guys to hold one on the south side of the Canal?

  2. G Rex says:

Hmmmm, I’m seriously considering an appearance.

  3. donviti says:

    dis,

none of us own ropers up here.

How appropriate it is that we drink in honor of ol’slugger

  4. RSmith says:

Dis – Where? The Fairways Inn? Should be a revealing time!

  5. RSmitty says:

Cripe…RSmith…RSmitty…don’t even now how to spell my own freaking handle. I was under sniper fire in Bosnia and had to type in a rush. I blame Sinbad Burris, too.

  6. liberalgeek says:

Keep in mind, that we Delaware Liberals bloggers are just along for the ride. The decisions are made elsewhere. In other words, I just read the news…

  7. jason330 says:

George Soros likes the Deer Park, so it is the Deer Park.

  8. donviti says:

fyi: they are having a pretty awesome band playing that night. so it is going to be crazy me thinks. I just might have to show up…

  9. disbelief says:

Actually, having it at the Fairways once would be a scream. I can imagine liberalgeek asking a waitress: “So, irregardless of your opinion of Hillary, do you feel that her attempt at the nomination has empowered women everywhere?”
And the waitress responding, “If you just said what I think you meant, you have to ask the guy in the corner for meth.”

  10. O.M.G. my bar!!
I’ll be there but if I sneak off with a dude who looks like Robert Downey Jr., it’s just the guy I hooked up with on St. Patty’s.
I have been avoiding going back there (mainly cause I have the end of the month BROKEs) but what the hell.

  11. liberalgeek says:

Dis- I NEVER use the word irregardless.

  12. Brian says:

I’ll be there with Jason’s tiara on.

  13. RSmitty says:

Wait. Nancy…are you saying FAIRWINDS is you bar?

I kid! I kid! I know you meant Deer Park, but I couldn’t let it go.
    🙂

  14. cassandra_m says:

This looks like it would be fun! But alas, I have to travel starting tomorrow, but I would be there!

Especially since this is a George Soros mandated event.

  15. Deer Park, son. DP.

  16. R Smitty says:

Nancy, honestly, considering my history with the DP from 1990 – about 1997 or so, it wouldn’t surprise me if we have crossed paths once, twice, five hundred times. I was most definitely a Wednesday night mainstay during that period…and a Thursday…and a Friday…and a Saturday…and the occassional Sunday night. I took Mondays and Tuesdays off.

Cripe, I most definitely miss that dirty ol’ hole.

  17. Pandora says:

I’m so disappointed I can’t make it. Last time was a blast. Have a drink for me.

  18. Joe M says:

I’ll be there. It’s about 5 minutes from home, so that will be much nicer than Timothy’s which was too loud, anyways.
