Oh my…

Would it be possible for Chip Flowers to be a worse spokesperson for Democrats on WHYY’s Delaware Tonight? Nobody talks to him, so he has no idea. And he compared Jack Markell’s Blueprint for a Better Delaware with Hitler’s Mein Kampf tonight.

Dear WHYY Guys,

You are awesome. Nancy Karibjellybean, I love you. That headline was an attempt to get a cheap laugh.

But seriously. You should have bloggers on for more than 10 seconds twice a year. It would do wonders for your ratings.

Hey, if that were the case, I just might watch it then…. what cable channel is it on?….. (lol)

  2. Dude, I saw the same thing! I’m working on getting video of this.

  3. jason330 says:

I wonder what Flowers would have compared the blueprint to if he didn’t like it?

  4. liberalgeek says:

    There goes Chip’s press secretary appointment… 🙂

  5. JohnnyX says:

Criminy, if you’re gonna compare Jack’s plans to Hitler’s manifesto, you can at least pronounce it right.

It’s Kaaaahmpf, not Kemp. Geeze if you weren’t listening closely you could’ve thought he said “Hitler’s Shawn Kemp” and wondered what the hell Jack Markell has to do with the Seattle Supersonics.

  6. cassandra m says:

Financial, fiduciary, whatever…..who is this guy, really? And why does that pass for interesting commentary?

  7. Dorian Gray says:

    Delaware’s Sarah Palin

  8. Rebecca says:

He DID NOT say the blueprint was like Mein Kampf. He said that people should read the blueprint to see where Jack’s priorities are. He used Mien Kampf as an example of a politician spelling out his plans ahead of time.

Sheesh, go watch the video again. It was probably an unfortunate choice of analogy because people only hear 8 second sound bites, but you’ve totally misunderstood what he was saying.

His point is that Jack published a very clear and concise policy manual and that all legislators should read it in order to understand Jack’s agenda for the next four years.

“His point is that Jack published a very clear and concise policy manual and that all legislators should read it in order to understand Jack’s agenda for the next four years.”

I agree and he did say Markell needed to organize those priorities because of funding concerns.

I think Jason is jealous because Whyy doesn’t see Jason as relevant to the Delaware political perspective; he is stuck too far left! Jason is good for beating the war drums during campaigns but the real political drummers has a drumstick in the right “and” left hand! Don’t get me wrong, Jason is great and knows when he is bullshitting a bullshitter ! Flowers seem to have a bit more objectivity!

So Rebecca, who do you think will be the next Secretary of Education?

  10. cassandra_m says:

Mentioning Mein Kampf in what turns out to be a fairly silly metaphor (Jack’s plan doesn’t have the level of biographical elements and is more policy than ideologically oriented) reveals the speaker to not know much about either document he is talking about.

Besides mentioning Mein Kampf is a violation (minor) of Godwin’s Law.

  11. liberalgeek says:

Isn’t his context that”if people had read Hitler’s plans, none of the bad things he did as the German leader would have happened”?

  12. I like the still YouTube pulled to represent the video. He looks like he’s been passin’ that Dutch!

  13. And, Jason…don’t I get to charge you a nickel every time you use “Nancy Karibjellybean?”

  14. Susan Regis Collins says:

WHHY News needs a major overhaul….they are the step child of Channel 12.

The interesting part is the DE Legs give the station hundreds of thousands of dollare annually. In exchange we get that sad excuse of a news show and little more.

  15. Rebecca says:

WHYY is pathetic here in Delaware. No argument there Jason!

  16. Nancy Willing says:

Anyone catch the Philly Inq expose on the WHYY Pres/EO Marrazzo (sp?) making 750K a year?

    http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20081109_Pay_package_awarded_to_WHYY_chief_questioned.html

  17. Susan Regis Collins says:

    # 16 Now there’s a great reason not give a penny to Channel 12 (WHYY)….they need to clean up their act too…wonder how his retirement package is, etc.

This is not directed at WHYY radio (90.9 FM)…send them a few sheckles when you can.

  18. cassandra m says:

Unfortunately, Marazzo is the President of all of WHYY — Radio and TV.

  19. liberalgeek says:

Ugh. That is a terrible thing to hear. It’s that kind of publicity that will cause membership drives to go for a month.

Now if they want to pay Terry Gross $750 grand, I’m in favor.

  20. G Rex says:

“Besides, mentioning Mein Kampf is a violation (minor) of Godwin’s Law.”

Godwin’s Law? Interesting, I had to look that up. And good thing too, ’cause I was about to write a long rambling post about how Dale Earnhart Jr. is a neo-Nazi because his car’s number is 88.

(Oh, and I guess nobody hipped Chip to the fact that Markell’s a Jew.)
