‘RESTAURANT IMPOSSIBLE’ COMING TO WAGON WHEEL
Today at 07:05:48 PM by Craig Horleman
The Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible” show is headed to Smyrna next week as the eatery rehab program will be filming at the Wagon Wheel Family Restaurant on U.S. 13 March 21 and 22.

In two days and with only $10,000, chef Robert Irvine and his team of designers will revamp the local restaurant. At the end of the second day, the Wagon Wheel will hold a grand re-opening where they will open the doors to the public and film the service as part of the show.

The Wagon Wheel will be taking reservations for that evening starting at 7. Hungry diners can call (302) 653-1457 to grab a table.

Okay… I occasionally watch this show. The featured restaurant is in dire financial straits and usually has poor food, poor service and is in desperate need of a design makeover. Does that apply to the Wagon Wheel? I’ve never been, so I don’t know.

  2. V says:

well clearly they did wonders with Scrimmages. Way to only redo half a restaurant and pretend the other half isn’t there and not address 1. the idea of pulling in the widener students and instead focus on lunch crowd? and 2. Their horrible invisible location.

funny enough i’ve been to two RI restaurants and in BOTH of them, they only redid a portion of it and pretended the other half didn’t exist on the show.

Is that one on the right in the shopping center parking lot as you are heading south?

If so, it’s been on life support for years.

  4. Jason330 says:

Yeah. I’d been there once for the muskrat and the average age of the patrons who werent there on a lark was probably 70.

  5. bamboozer says:

No you know what! The Wagon Wheel? That icon of who goes there anyway? And in Smyrna no less, I pass it twice a day. Abandon all hope ye muskrat eaters!

  6. Frank says:

I stopped there once for their breakfast buffet.

This may have been before it was named Wagon Wheel as it was at least three or four years ago.

They were able to ruin a breakfast buffet.

    That takes true talent.

From then on, I hit the Waffle House in south Smyrna, where they understand country ham.

I’ve been a few times for breakfast and was really not thrilled with my meal. Decided to go to the Bridgeway in Smyrna instead.

  8. GdFd4Smyrna says:

I’ve been to the WW but NOT recently. The food is horrible.
Seems they need a new cook, dare I say CHEF in Smyrna. The food has always been inconsistant. That’s mostly why I have stopped going.
The place is dark and dingy. It’s a land mark in Smyrna like
the Smyrna Dinner “Was”.. You need to go there next!

  9. Jason330 says:

Suffice it to say Smyrna isn’t exactly a culinary mecca – but even by Smyrna’s debased standards, the WW is pretty terrible.

  10. Katie says:

    SMYRNA is dark and dingy.

  11. Jason330 says:

While that new town motto is accurate, I didn’t think it would unseat the old town motto – Smyrna if you lived here you’d be thinking about leaving home now.

  12. ray rash says:

my father used to take me there for breakfast in the early 60,s on our deer hunting adventures. when I moved my own family here in 88 I to took my sons there for bf. the food was crappy service was a disaster. I took my wife there once for dinner food was a wast of time cooking left and never returned an I live locally and have no plans to go….

  13. Morgan K says:

I used to work as a server at the wagon wheel for over a year, this was back in 2010. It was really bad there the daughter of the owner Shelia drank her whole shift and had drugs going in and out of there. It is far from a family restaurant!! The food is so bad there that you wouldn’t even be able to tell that they are open because the parking lot is so empty! I saw everything that the customers didn’t and from what I saw I would not recommend this restaurant to ANYONE!!!

  14. Jason330 says:

The jury has returned their verdict.

  15. Morgan K says:

yes the jury has returned their verdict and i think that this tv show should second guess what they are getting their selves into. They just need to tare it down and start all over with a whole new building and all new employes and a new owner!

  16. Jason330 says:

That’s pretty much the prognosis for most of the places they do.

  17. SussexWatcher says:

When the best place in town to eat is the Wendy’s on 13, you know you’re in trouble.
