REV and Bill Cover McGuiness Trial Part 11 – The Persecution Never Truly Rests

Filed in National by on June 29, 2022

The state finally rested its case today after calling a few more witnesses. After trying to get the whole case thrown out again, the defense begins with its slate of hardcore Kathy-heads and their favorite person: former Pennsylvania auditor Eugene DePasquale. Also,  more phone calls from MLB Hall of Famer Frank Robinson.

Defense rests. Adjourned for the day. Closing args and jury instruction tomorrow a.m. Could have a verdict tomorrow p.m. Could…. Potentially… on the last day of the legislative session as well.

Dover Circus Maximus! Stake the big top. Cue the gladiators. Release the lions! Are you not entertained?

Lead investigator swore to false statements? The judge is playing it close to the vest but Id bet he tosses the verdict if shes convicted on the structuring or theft.
I think She’s walking. Next she’ll be coming back for those legal fees. It’s a good thing the state has all that ARPA money sitting around!
REV and Co doing a great job with the coverage, you feel like you were in the room.

From various readings of the court proceedings it just sounds like the prosecution was an amateur hour

Agreed. They didn’t have this thing sewn up like they needed to. Half the witnesses hurt the prosecution’s case. And the unforced error by the lead investigator gave Woods a giant hole to drive reasonable doubt through. She’s going to walk, at least on the felonies. And that means Pete is going to cover her enough to avoid removal by the GA.

I just hope enough good Dems turn out in September to vote for Lydia York. This will be the only primary for many of them, so she has GOT to make fighting corruption her only issue. I’m honestly not impressed so far.

It seems a dim memory, but 12 (?) people in an office of 22 were whistle blowers seeking some kind of protection from the unbridled brazen craziness. If she walks, we’ve set a new low bar.

But yeah, the well established legal precedent of “LOL, Fuck You!” may well come into play.
