Heat ‘Blob’ To Dominate The Northern Pacific?  Which raises at least a couple of questions: (1) When is an anomaly no longer an anomaly?:

Of great interest currently is a rapid heat up of sea surface temperatures off the California coast, and across almost the entire North Pacific. The re-emergence of a warm water “blob” is not only unusual during our current La Nina conditions, but has rapidly reached levels rarely seen.

And, of course, (2):  Who wrote this song?:

The SHOCKING, OOZING ANSWER at the bottom of the column!!!

Party Guests, Spies, Had Access To Trump’s ‘Secret Documents’.  You can pretty much assume that Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, and the rest already have taken what Trump was hiding.

Sample Spy Itinerary:

(1) Steal Secrets

(2) Go To Pool

(3) Evade Advances From The Donald. And, no, he isn’t scared off by UTI’s.  He’s heard that excuse all his life.

OK, I can’t let the latest Deb Heffernan stuff go any more.  Because I don’t understand it.  She has a fundraiser on Thursday. At the Hotel DuPont.  Do you know how much is costs to hold a fundraiser at the Hotel? Me neither, but it costs a lot just to break even. (BTW, the congressional delegation bailed. Supposedly the ‘highest ranking’ official there was Delaware’s (allegedly) Human Photo Op, Bethany Hall Long.)  They posted their 30-day report on Friday, and it does not appear to include any of the proceeds from the fundraiser. Deadline’s not until tomorrow.  But that’s not what I don’t get as they simply wanted to delay showing how much she owes her anti-climate polluter pals until AFTER the election.

According to her report, she had $75K in the bank at the beginning of the cycle, raised about $25 K and spent about $25 K.  Raising the question:  What does she need to do a fundraiser for when she already has $75,000 in campaign funds staring her in the face, money she HASN’T spent.  Not counting whatever she made at the Hotel.  You simply can’t spend anything close to that in a local legislative primary in one month.  Any theories?

‘Bay To Bay’ Discovers The Working Families Party.  Maybe, perhaps, possibly, some day the News-Journal will figure out that there is a highly-effective grassroots out there standing in support of progressive candidates and against the casual corruption of the Delaware Way:

The Delaware Working Families Party is a third party that supports candidates with progressive values and diverse backgrounds, focusing on racial, economic, social, and environmental justice. Candidates of the Delaware Working Families Party can be of any political party, as they do not run their own ballot line. The party works to coach their endorsed candidates throughout the election process focused on creating a working-class political movement.

After launching in January 2019 after a merger with Leftward Delaware, the Delaware Working Families Party endorsed a handful of candidates in the 2020 primary election. With the election of Delaware Working Families Party candidates, the previous election cycle introduced new, diverse and progressive voices to the General Assembly.

In 2020, Rep. Larry Lambert, D-Claymont, Rep. Madinah Wilson-Anton, D-Newark, Rep. Eric Morrison, D-Glasgow, and Sen. Marie Pinkney, D-Bear won their races, defeating incumbent lawmakers in the process. Rep. Rae Moore, D-Middletown, successfully ran in the 8th representative district, though she was unopposed in the 2020 primary election.

No snark in the article, either.  Which should happen when WFP virtually ran the table in 2020.

Proof That Some People Are Unreconstructed Assholes.  Got around the plastic bag ban by stealing the plastic carriers at stores.  In the interest of fairness, please allow me to point out that Gerald Brady is not guilty of this–the Ac-Uh-Me has banned him from the premises.

I just knew you’d stick around to find out who wrote the theme for ‘The Blob’.  It was legit the first hit song for  Burt Bacharach and Hal David.  Sung by ‘The Five Blobs’ who, in reality was some guy named Bernie Nee, whose vocals were overdubbed five times.

You don’t get stuff like this on any other political blob, blog.

What do you want to talk about?

    1) The News Journal is one of the prime pillars of the Delaware Way. Its constant cheerleading of the riverfront redevelopment project is a big reason taxpayers have sunk nearly half a billion dollars into it without any serious opposition or even oversight. If you can guess how a WFP rep would take that, you understand why TNJ ignores WFP.

    2) Isn’t that a misleadingly jaunty tune for a horror movie?

  2. Yes. That’s why I remembered it. Horror movies and cocktail jazz don’t generally go together. But, the movie was really designed to be sort-of a spoof in and of itself. Saw it in college. Great movie to watch when you’re high.

When someone (not the sheriff) said, “Boy says he’s seen a blob. I believe him”, the audience erupted in cheers.

Oh, and Steve McQueen was in it.

    That movie had everything.

I think you’re right. It was camp before they had a word for that. But I did not recall the theme music.

Heffernan will have to submit an amended 30 day report from what I gather. The campaign finance rules are that the contribution must be published as date received not date deposited. If she got any funds at her fundraiser, she must disclose them in an amended report.
I plan on writing to the Dept. of Elections to force the point.

Also, I am a big fan of the new-ish DSN reporter Joe Edelen who furnished the WFP story you posted today.

With the plastic bag ban, am I the only one who has about 600 reusable fabric bags of which I have never paid a cent for? Seriously, every business gives them away for free

    • mediawatch says:

I’ve got less than 600 but have found them useful as liners for the small trash can in my office.

“Supposedly the ‘highest ranking’ official there was Delaware’s (allegedly) Human Photo Op, Bethany Hall Long.) ”

Is this to say that supposedly none of the Congressional delegation nor the Gov. showed up?

I’ve noticed that even the safest Dem old guard are really skittish around people they worry might put some loser stink on them.

      • Nancy Willing says:

        heh.

        Also, too:

My Direct Message to Heffernan’s campaign today:
I just conferred with Patrick Jackson at Dept. of Elections who agreed with my assessment that your campaign must file an amended 30 day report to include any funds collected for your Thursday night fundraiser. The report filed Friday did not disclose those donations and that violates the law. Thanks.
