Why are Delaware Republicans still allowed to run as “normal” Republicans?

Filed in National by on August 14, 2022

I’m seriously asking. Delaware Republicans (all of them) are consistent supporters of a national party that worked hard to strip women of their right to reproductive healthcare even while they worked to protect the paternity rights of rapist.

All Delaware Republican office holders and candidates are members of a national party that supports the violent overthrown of our constitutional government. They are all members of a party that has worked to undermine election integrity, and block eligible voters from voting. They are all members of a party that has traded in support for the common welfare for strident support of a violent, criminal cult leader.

All Delaware Republicans contribute to and support a party that is lobbying oil companies to fight FOR global warming and irreversible climate change.

Many Delaware Republicans don’t even try to argue that they are not like “those crazy” Republicans. Why are Democrats continuing to allow Republicans run as if it is still 1988?

Gee, might be because the leadership of the Dems is anything but, much like the horrid example of Chris Coons their wrists are universally limp and terrified of losing their status as “moderates”. No leadership, no strong voice, no guts what so ever. In the majority yet in the self created minority is the sorry fit for what pretends to serve us!

I also forgot to mention that all of Delaware’s GOP elected officials and candidates support a national party that thinks the answer to gun violence is more gun violence. It doesn’t matter is they have some slightly less bloodthirsty more nuanced view of gun violence. They are supporting an organization that is literally covered in the blood of elementary school students.

How can they not be called to answer for this shit?

And even as I type this I sort of know the answer, or part of it.

For some reason Delaware Republican candidates are allow to pretend they don’t belong to the national GOP by saying “My district is worried about property taxes. That (gun policy, Trump, abortion, election nullification) isn’t a local issue.”

That is bullshit on its face, of course and yet it is enough to stop the NJ from making any connections between the national party and our local GOP candidates.

The problem here for Dems is the same as it is nationwide; we want to be seen as ‘statesmen’ while we are running against a mob of thugs. It’s a very noble endeavor, but it’s also why we keep losing so often. Like Bill Mahre has often said, “Republicans bring assault weapons to a knife fight, Democrats bring a bundt cake.”. On the plus side, I’m glad to see that, in PA, both Josh Shapiro and John Fetterman are taking the fight right to their opponents. The ‘carpetbagger’ label seems to be sticking to Oz the Quack, but I’m just waiting for the barrage of ‘socialist’ attack ads against Fetterman that I know are on the way. Hope John doesn’t let up on his attacks on Oz over the carpetbagger and abortion issues for a minute.

Thanks for commenting. I agree that a big part of the Democratic establishment are stuck in the past. They desperately want a return to the days when the Republicans were they’ll future business partners in K street lobby shops.

The GOP’s attack on Fetterman seem to be that he the REAL entitled billionaire in the race. It’s odd given the fact that their candidate owns 9 mansions and only bought in PA last year.
