“WE DEMAND (insert unreasonable demand here)!”

The GOP has a good system that allows them to always play the victim. They make demands that are impossible to fulfill and when rebuffed, they claim that shadowy forces are at work, and the unmet demand is an example of the gross injustice constantly inflicted on conservatives by the “deep state”.

They tripped up recently and demanded the release of the Mara Largo search warrant. When that was granted and they were deprived of the victimization talking point. They quickly adjusted the demand to be unfulfillable.

The Justice Department said in court documents Monday that it opposes the release of the FBI affidavit used to justify the search warrant on former President Donald Trump’s primary residence at Mar-a-Lago.

In Monday’s filing, prosecutors indicated that the affidavit contained sensitive information regarding the testimony of witnesses in the investigation, adding later they feared that releasing the requested documents would “chill” the future testimony of other potential witnesses.

While the Justice Department did not oppose the release of the search warrant last week, the department argued Monday in a court filing to the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida that the affidavit should remain sealed “to protect the integrity of an ongoing law enforcement investigation that implicates national security.”

“Release the affadavit! We demand to know which RINO Never-Trumper we should threaten.”

  2. puck says:

I heard a rumor Melania ratted him out. Probably not true but that would be awesome.

  3. bamboozer says:

I heard it was Jared Kushner, same for Melania. I suspect most Republican politicians want Trump gone and silenced, good luck on that as he’s the mouth that roars of the modern era. Hoping Trump runs in 2024, hoping Joe doesn’t as we something more. Dare say the RINO hunt will go on, and on. I’m also surprised he hasn’t blamed Cheyney,
    Yet.

At this moment there are too many open variables to speculate whether Biden should run or not. Six months from now we will have better information:

Will Trump and other GOP electeds be indicted?
Will GOP take one or both houses in the mid-terms?
Will Europe collapse from food/fuel shortages?
Will inflation/gas prices subside, or resume rising?
      Outcome of Putin’s war?
      Health of NATO?

If you think he shouldn’t run, it’s on you to come up with a better name, one that can win. I for one don’t want to nominate a lefty favorite and end up with a new smarter MAGA president a la 1972.

      • bamboozer says:

Said it before, I’d like to see Gavin Newsom run. Tall (It counts!) and looks like a movie star, he’s also has fought off a recall and did as well as could be done as California’s governor. That and get real, Biden is pushing 80 and has yet to fill the bill for popular and rise to 50% approval.

        • puck says:

Newsom is actually a pretty good answer. Yet to attain national popularity though. Ask me again in six months 🙂 His movie-star looks seem a little too slick and IMHO will work against him nationally.

      • ” I for one don’t want to nominate a lefty favorite and end up with a new smarter MAGA president a la 1972.”

Agreed. Let’s nominate someone who will excite no one. You know, Mondale, Dukakis, Hillary…it’s always worked so well for us in the past.

Seriously, 1972? Nothing has changed since then?

And let’s not rock the boat with those Veep selections either. Because Bentsen, Loserman, and Kaine were SO FUCKING GREAT!

It’s official. I’ve had enough coffee.

        • puck says:

If Biden isn’t running, there will be a primary and probably the candidate perceived as most centrist will win the primary.

Biden was my least preferred candidate in the 2020 primary, because I perceived him as too centrist if not center-right. Yet now he has surpassed all my expectations and accomplished far more than any of the other Dems could have, had they somehow managed to beat Trump in 2020.

      • Arthur says:

Sorry, if Biden were to be the nominee i am sitting it out. I can’t vote for someone that old. There should be a limit on the age of the presidential candidate, no older than 70 and i think that is 5 years too old.

        • puck says:

If Biden is the nominee he’s winning Delaware with or without you.

          • Arthur says:

thats about the only state he’ll win. seriously, he’ll be 82 and you think that is a good age for a president to start his second term?

          • puck says:

Remember, your premise is “if Biden is the nominee.” In that case an embalmed Biden would be better than his opponent.

  4. Alby says:

It wouldn’t be Kushner, because he’ll be implicated in any dirty dealing that went down.
