Warnock/Walker – Georgia Voters Reject Walker’s Wolfman is better than Dracula Argument

Biden is now the first President since Roosevelt that didn’t lose a Senate seat during a mid-term.

Trump’s handpicked candidate sucked.

  1. Well, even thoough Walker has taken a slight lead around 8:45, I don’t see how he can win.

When I look at the outstanding remaining votes, the vast majority, and there are a lot of them, are in the D strongholds around Atlanta. Walker has nosed ahead with a lot of the rural counties already 100% in.

Walker has generally underperformed in those counties, and one relatively small county, Baldwin County, flipped from R to D in the runoff.

FWIW – Nate Silver said that prediction markets have Warnock at over 90% to win. I havn’t paid a bit of attention to those markets since Trump won.

      • Although Walker has a sliver of a lead at 9:15, one vote dump from several remaining D strongholds, and I think he won’t catch up again. Those red rural counties are almost all in.

  2. Annnd, it just happened as more votes came in from Cobb and DeKalb Counties. Warnock up by 30K.

  3. It’s pretty much even now but, when all is said and done, I think Warnock will have about a 200,000 vote margin. Huge swaths of urban and D suburban votes remain to be counted.

  4. Ben says:

If Warnock wins his 4th election in 2 years, he MUST be considered for …. something more.
Georgia is the dem way forward.

  5. Only one strong fairly large R county remaining–Coweta, an exurb of Atlanta.

Walker has edged out again, but there ain’t enough votes left for him to win.

    Sticking with my 200K margin.

  6. jason330 says:

    10:23 Warnock projected winner.

  7. Joe Connor says:

So, after waking up 22 hours ago in Dublin, schlepping to the airport flying 7.5 hours I can rest! This was a big f’n deal! Democracy still teeters but there is hope!

  8. Andrew C says:

Georgia will have two Democratic senators for the next four years. Think of the shift in the state from 2016 to 2022. Now imagine that in 2026 and 2028.

    • Jason330 says:

Trump seems poised to really help out Democrats over that period, but I’m not sure if we can depend on him sticking around.

      • Ben says:

There’s only one way we’ll ever be truly rid of him.
Unless everyone gets out of the way for DeSantis (who is only slightly more charming than Ted Cruz) he’ll be the nominee by 30%ing his way to primary wins in a crowded field.

  9. Jason330 says:

Feeling a little sad for Walker actually. Evil motherfuckers those Republicans. Not just Trump anyone who propped him up or voted for him is pretty disgusting.

    • Ben says:

Just remember that he’s an abusive homophobe and misogynist who would happily usher in Christian facism.

  10. Arthur says:

Georgia almost voted for an illiterate, deadbeat dad, wife beating, black man – all the things the Republican Party says is wrong with our country, but he almost won!

  11. mediawatch says:

It’s a sad indictment of Georgia’s public education system that the state has 1.7 million people who are dumber than Herschel Walker.

  12. Alby says:

Given what we know about head injuries among long-time football players, I’m inclined to believe he’s likely suffering from CTE, so I’m disinclined to harp on his behavior, appalling as it is. The real culprits are the people who voted for him, who know exactly what he is — a broken-down ex-jock who’d vote the way his handlers told him.

I took the whole thing as a test of how dreadful a candidate the GOP could run and win with. All they will take from this is that they have to dial it down from 11, but not all the way back to 10.

  13. Paul says:

Interviewer: President Trump, can you remark on Herschel Walker’s loss in Ga.?

    Trump: Who??????

  14. mouse says:

No wonder the Republicans so hate and fear education and the educated

  15. Oof says:

The “first since Roosevelt” line is wrong. Seen it a few times and not sure why. W, Trump both gained 2 seats in 2002, 2018. Doesn’t take away from Warnock’s win. But just isn’t correct.

    • Oof says:

      Also Nixon ‘70, JFK ‘62.

      • Jason330 says:

That’s what I get for listening to podcasts. Thanks for the fact check. I haven’t fact checked your fact check, but I know W’s midterm was the post 9-11 freakout.
