The Sinema Enema.  Flushed herself out of the bowels of the Democratic Party.  Here’s my quick early take:

Well, we know she can’t run as a D in Arizona again.  Maybe the R’s will have her, maybe they won’t.  Maybe she’ll go the Sore Loserman route. Problem is–what, exactly, is her constituency?  Going the Third Party route would likely help the D’s more than the R’s because she has already made herself a pariah to Democrats.  The more I think about it (10 minutes and one cup of coffee in), the more I think that she has committed political suicide.  She almost certainly was gonna be primaried if she remained a D.  If I were a betting man, I’d predict that she makes the jump to Fox News, perhaps before 2024.

Speaking Of Arizona Whackjobs…:

“Soros controls Fontes. Soros controls the press. Soros controls Hobbs. Soros controls the affiliates. Soros controls the Sheriff. Soros controls the recorder. Soros controls the county supervisors,” Finchem said in the post. “It is time we stand up to Soros and take back Arizona.”

That’s failed Rethug AG candidate Mark Finchem.  He and Kari Lake aren’t done filing lawsuits yet:

Failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake yammered yesterday in her out-of-focus video about the “clowns” running the 2022 election. Even though lawyers for Lake and losing Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchem were sanctioned by a federal district judge last week for filing meaningless lawsuits, even after every GOP lawsuit has been tossed out of court because they present no fucking evidence of voter fraud, even after a hand count of voting machines in 12 counties found no problems, Lake promises another lawsuit Friday.

Of the states that have trended blue over the last few election cycles, perhaps none has enabled the flip from red to blue more than the Rethug crazies of Arizona.  Otherwise, I think it’d still be solid red.

What Happens When The Supreme Court Has No Binding Ethics Code. Decisions get leaked, justices are wined and dined, and, oh, nobody can hold them accountable:

Rev. Rob Schenck, the former head of the conservative evangelical group Faith & Action, affirmed under oath on Thursday that he learned the outcome of the 2014 Hobby Lobby decision ahead of time from one of his “stealth missionaries” to the Supreme Court, after she’d had dinner with Justice Samuel Alito and his wife.

Schenck, formerly a militant opponent of abortion rights who has since distanced himself from the religious right, encouraged his supporters to pray with and befriend justices after gaining access to them through contributions to the Supreme Court Historical Society. One such couple, Donald and Gayle Wright, befriended Justices Alito and Clarence Thomas and the late Antonin Scalia, treating them to dinners, vacations at their residence in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and at least one hunting trip.

“[Our missionaries] might host justices or their spouses for meals at restaurants, private clubs, or their homes — and sometimes the justices reciprocated,” Schenck said. “The Hobby Lobby leak happened at one of these arrangements.”

Why, they’re as corrupt as–politicians!

No-o-o-o, Not The Girl Scouts!  Can a Fracking Patch be far behind?:

Beyond developing their camping skills, participating in a food drive to aid the hungry and donating pajamas for seniors, Girl Scouts across America this year were offered a new way to earn a special uniform patch: learning about the wonders of 5G cellphone technology and, in some cases, promoting it.

Other recommended activities sound more like do-it-yourself advertising. High school-age members on one Girl Scout site are encouraged to “Find a cell tower and make a video explaining how 5G would change the world for you. Share the video you made with a friend or fellow Girl Scout. Or, with an adult’s permission, post your video on social media and tag @gsheartofnj, @ericsson, #girlscoutstalk5G.”

Guess Who Controls The Academy Of Nutrition And Dietetics.  Yep, Big Ag and the processed food industry:

Newly released documents show an influential group that helps shape US food policy and steers consumers toward nutritional products has financial ties to the world’s largest processed food companies and has been controlled by former industry employees who have worked for companies like Monsanto.

The documents reveal the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has a record of quid pro quos with a range of food giants, owns stock in ultra processed food companies and has received millions in contributions from producers of pop, candy, and processed foods linked to diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other health problems.

The findings are a part of a recently published peer-reviewed study that examined a trove of financial documents and internal communications obtained through a Freedom of Information act (FOIA).

“It’s incredibly influential so if the Academy is corrupt then nutritional policy in the US is going to be corrupt,” said Gary Ruskin, executive director of US Right to Know, and a co-author of the study. The investigative nonprofit developed the study with researchers from nonprofits and universities in the US and UK.

I won’t link to it, but there’s yet another News-Journal article on the ‘noble history of Wegman’s’, published yesterday.  I find this endless reportorial brown-nosing incomprehensible.  But, if it’s taking business away from the Kennys, I’m jiggy wid it.

What do you want to talk about?
