Markell Interview Forthcoming
Thanks for all of your input earlier today on what subjects you wanted discussed. I believe most if not all of your questions were asked in some manner (not exact words or phrasing). Even Nancy’s question about land use was asked, and we discussed education and health care, among many other things. Indeed, when I asked Nemski’s question, he paused and said “Wow, great question.”
Geek is currently formatting the video and uploading it, so it should be available shortly. Yes, we aren’t going to summarize the interview in writing or give you our spin on what Jack said. Nor will we just type up a transcript and post it. We will just show it to you.
May I just say, though, that I don’t think I could ever be part of an actual campaign, whether as a candidate or someone on the candidate’s staff. There would be too much “flying by the seat of your pants” chaos for an anal retentive organized person like myself. But I do admire those who do it. The reason I say that is that we had a schedule change at the last moment. We were supposed to meet at an office in Dover, but as Cassandra and I were arriving on State Street, we were called and asked if we could meet instead up at the new Smyrna Diner off the South Smyrna exit of Route 1. Geek, who was still en route, had luckily not passed Smyrna yet on Rt. 1. In the end, the location change was for the better, for you get to see Jack interacting with your average Delaware diner patrons. One of them even kindly interrupted the interview to wish Markell luck on November 4th, and that he had his vote.
OH NO-that was today? When you wrote “later”, I thought like next week. My question goes unanswered I guess.
And I survived a road trip with Delaware Dem! Awesome.
This was a fun interview and I’d love to hear who else you’d like to hear from. Remember that all of The Editors have full-time, daytime gigs and can’t do it all. But we’ll certainly do more.
Joanne, your question was about education, correct? Especially, the SEED program, correct? I think we did touch on that at some length. You will have to watch.
Thanks delawaredem. Interview suggestion w/ Tyler Nixon if I may. Your crossover support (DL I mean) is intriguing, and would make great discussion.
I was exchanging emails with Tyler earlier this week and we both definitely want to do a profile and/or interview. His position as a “progressive” and “libertarian” Republican is intriguing to us who long for the Republican Party to drift back from the darkness of theocratic authoritarianism.
Yea for the local stuff DL posts!! I talked w/ Tyler today at the Christie Todd Whitman luncheon–and her comments too echo the attention and work we need to do locally regardless–a politica after my own heart–Tyler is that great example. Thanks.
The first one is coming. I will release them as a series of short sections by theme. First up is education, just for Joanne…
Well thank you LG–but education is for everyone!

You might as well wait until tomorrow morning. The Donviti Baby Drama preempts all.
How about a sit down with Karen Hartley-Nagle? She is having a discussion about the bailout next Wednesday and has a position paper out on it (published on DE WAY).
