UPDATED W/Video: Senator Tom Carper – Your TOOL in Washington

Filed in National by on November 12, 2008

Everyone knows that Liebrman has no business being the Chairman of any Senate Committee. Well everyone except four people:

Politico Identifies the Pro-Lieberman Caucus:

Sens. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) are all involved in the effort, according to top Senate Democratic aides. These four senators — along with other Lieberman allies — are reaching out to the rest of the Democratic Senate caucus to try to ensure Lieberman survives a secret ballot vote on whether to strip him of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

This effort, along with kind words from Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) last night about Lieberman, is giving the Connecticut senator some serious momentum heading into next week’s secret vote.

What a fucking tool Carper is. He is really starting to bug the crap out of me. Why does he do this? because he can. He does not have to give a shit about anything except what he wants to happen because he is absolutely untouchable.

So, please, nobody comment that “he should be primaried” because it isn’t going to happen.

The jed Report put together this reel of Carper’s litttle buddy.

Make that six. Me and President-Elect Obama. Boo-ya!

  2. jason330 says:

Having said that, if a decent primary candidate did emerge – I bet they could raise a shit load of money on Daily Kos.

    Huh?

  5. cassandra m says:

Obama is setting the tone — no taking revenge — but nothing about keeping his chairmanships. Just that he wants him to stay in the caucus.

Lieberman has a sweet compromise deal on the table — he can take that deal OR he walks away leaving Dems with a great narrative about trying to keep him in the caucus. Carper et al are trying to make sure that Reid has not control over his own caucus.

I’m really trying to take the high road when it comes to Lieberman… not happening yet.

  7. nemski says:

I was watching Keith last night and they were talking about Sen. Durbin leading the fight to keep Lieberman in place (if I remember correctly). Something about losing his daughter is making him pick his priorities. Transcripts aren’t up for KO yet.

J – talk to Geek. Please be careful when challenging The Don (I don’t mean Viti, either). The Don does as The Don pleases. You don’t want to be on The Don’s list.

Please The Don, don’t hurt him!
    Donner time…
    can’t touch this…

AGREED! Obama is not instructing the Senate to keep Joe in the Chairmans seat just the caucus, if possible.
Carper is more than a tool…grrrrrrrrrrrr, he holds the worst RINO values close to his heart and in my book, is overrun by a GREED agenda.

  10. anon says:

I would pay good money to see Atkins primary Carper.

I would pay good money to see Atkins primary Carper.

Ohhhh mannn…. resisting urge to bring up a contest of spousal slapping snark here.

  12. RSmitty says:

Damn it! I accidentally said it.

  13. nemski says:

Lieberman is keeping his post. Last week you all wanted Lieberman gone from the Caucus, but Obama has swayed you. Next week, a new Jedi Mind Trick by Obama and you will all think it is a great idea to keep Lieberman in his post.

Revenge, my sweets, is best served cold.

  14. anon says:

Remember, this is the Dem Senate we are talking about, the same bunch that just cast like 75 votes for Bush’s FISA bill.

They bend over for Bush, so why wouldn’t they do a little reacharound for Lieberman? No surprises there.

  15. Unstable Isotope says:

I will not be happy if Lieberman keeps his post but I do think it’s up to the Senate. I just have to make sure my senators know where I stand.

  16. Kilroy says:

“What a fucking tool Carper is. He is really starting to bug the crap out of me.”

What took you so long! He was the main reason I got involved with the GOP! Carper was the signer of DSTP with all its flaws and talk about negative campaigning, he was a disgrace the way he beat down Bill Roth because of Roth’s age.

Carper was Minner’s mentor and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!

Jason it’s time to face it, you belong in the middle! Blame it on the poggie bait the jar-heads gave you at your Captain’s Mast!

  17. cassandra m says:

Speaking for myself, I STILL want Lieberman gone from the caucus, but will settle for him losing his chairmanships and getting something out of the way.

But when Reid can’t keep his caucus together over something we all care about, we’ll just have to remember that he didn’t get much support for that effort now when it really does count.

  18. NVW says:

    Eschaton comment rescue:
Sorry to say this, but Obama is making the first big mistake of his presidency. Lieberman’s committee has huge power to investigate the President and home land security. Lieberman has not used that power on Bush once, but I guarantee that he will use it on Obama in 2-3 years down the road. And you better believe it. Lieberman just loves kicking the teeth of those Dems who stand by him.

  19. edisonkitty says:

Carper lost me forever when he voted for torture.

  20. George says:

I think it’s all a ruse – he wants Lieb in the caucus, but he wants to be Chair of the full committee. … and he’s next in line for it.

Also, anyone who thinks Carper was RAMs mentor doesn’t know anything.

  21. Geezer says:

“he was a disgrace the way he beat down Bill Roth because of Roth’s age. ”

Cut me a freaking break. Had Roth been elected, he would have died in office. Roth deserved to be defeated, because he never should have run again. And given the way people here jumped all over Bill Lee for his well-lubricated elbow, they could have used Roth as a trampoline.

  22. X Stryker says:

Carper lost me forever when he voted for torture.

    My thoughts exactly.

  23. Nancy Willing says:

We don’t need a veto proof majority for DEMs since we have a DEM executive. We DON’T need Lieberfuck.

  24. anon says:

Carper lost me forever when he voted for torture.

He lost me with bankruptcy repeal. Torture, FISA, and support for Lieberman just shove him deeper into the coals.

Carper also claims credit for extending the ban on certain Internet taxes for an additional two years. What the sneaky SOB doesn’t tell you is that he supported the two-year ban in order to knock out a competing bill that would have made the ban permanent.

Carper’s lefty credentials are almost entirely based on his environmental record, which consists of a series of photo-ops at green events.
