Michael Migliore tapped to run in 6th RD Special.

Filed in Delaware by on November 23, 2008

The 6th District Democratic Committee has selected attorney Michael Migliore to run for Rep. Diana McWilliams’s 6th District seat.  McWilliams is resigning to take a job in New Mexico.   The special election will be held on December 20th.

“It means a lot that this growing group of Democrats has selected me to represent them,” Migliore said in a news release. “I know I have big shoes to fill, but it’s time to get to work. The door-knocking begins today.”

A win by the Democrats in this special election will allow them to hold onto a three-fifths majority in the House, which allows them to pass tax legislation and override a veto without minority party consent.

We hold that super majority now, and we need to win this election in order to maintain it.

Mr. Migliore is a bankruptcy attorney with Stradley Ronon.  He is also an attorney for the Delaware House of Represenatives, where he has a hand in drafting legislation while providing legal counsel to legislators.

See, being a part of District Committees does have its perks, as you have a hand to select and recruit candidates every once and while.   Of course, it would help to know whether Mr. Migliore is a progressive.  Does anyone have any other information about him?

I know that he isn’t Donhusseinsquishyviti.

  2. delawaredem says:

Shoot, I didn’t put 2 and 2 together, and forgot this was the district Donviti was gunning for. Need coffee.

Should we all now work to destroy Migliore’s campaign? LOL.

  3. liberalgeek says:

    His LinkedIn profile.

His page at the law firm.

Looks like he sits on the board of directors for the Claymont Boys and Girls Club and for Contact Delaware.

  4. liberalgeek says:

Also looks like he graduated from Sallies with Paul Smith in 1992.

DV-tell us what happened. In your very words.

  6. It was my first day of work in philly and I couldn’t make the monday meeting…

    priorities.

My guess is this guy is the right one for the job….

  7. Rebecca says:

He made a strong pitch for Open Government in his acceptance speech.

  8. Alex says:

I’ve worked with (and against) Mike in the House for the past 2 years…while he and I are on different sides of the political spectrum, I found him to be great to work with and I think he will make an excellent legislator and representative of his district.

  9. El Somnambulo says:

El Somnambulo knows that Migliore drafted some of the best open gov’t legislation. He said on Thursday (El Somnambulo was in disguise) that, since the R’s didn’t really want true open gov’t, he had to put some things in which he didn’t like. He said he’s looking forward to passing even better legislation now that the D’s have the House.

    Sounds good to El Somnambulo.

  10. FSP says:

That is a large load of crap right there, ES. And you know it.

  11. Susan Regis Collins says:

Hopefully, the pix in Sunday’s Snooze is not doing him justice……

  12. El Somnambulo says:

As usual, penetrating analysis from the leader of the Delaware Taxpayers’ Union. Although El Burrito Junior knows large loads of crap when he looks in the mirror.

  13. FSP says:

I see you’re not denying it, though.

  14. Rebecca says:

    Hey Dave,

Have you guys got a candidate yet?

  15. R Smitty says:

…is also an attorney for the Delaware House of Represenatives, where he has a hand in drafting legislation while providing legal counsel to legislators.

Well, then the Republicans should get a candidate with a questionable resume, a ten-year-old picture, and questionable associations and that will be a shoo-in for victory against someone of Migliore’s ilk. It was already proven a few weeks ago.

    …since the R’s didn’t really want true open gov’t…

That is pure partisan bull shit. All Migliore is doing is getting his “politician” on. Even your House Rep God, Schwartzkopf wants closed segments of the caucuses, just like MOST legislators.

  16. Unstable Isotope says:

    Congratulations to Mr. Miglione.

  17. El Somnambulo says:

El Somnambulo is making the assertion that, indeed, the legislation the House passes this year will be more comprehensive and measurably better for open gov’t. supporters than what passed last year. What El Burrito Junior avoids saying is that, like most issues, the Rethugs never wanted open government as a reality, they wanted open government as an issue.

Hence, FSP’s phony taxpayers’ group designed to get the hapless Jim Bowers over as a good government guy instead of the Wayniac that he was. Which worked as well as Burrito’s ‘analysis’.

Open government will pass this year, and it will be stronger b/c the Rethugs won’t be able to water it down, and b/c Markell will make Adams agree to bring it up, or else he’ll no longer be Pro-Tem.

And FSP & R.Smitty will head back to their laboratory to come up with their next scam, probably screaming bloody murder about the duPonts and their sisters and their cousins and their aunts being forced to hock their 5th Mercedes’ b/c of the Godless Democrats.

  18. FSP says:

I will happily take you up on that promise. What will you do when it does not come to pass?

I will assert that the open government legislation that becomes law this year will look exactly like the open government legislation that became law last year.

The legislation that passes the House this year will be absolutely perfect. Because they know, in advance, that it is DOA on the other side.

Susan Collins wrote: “Hopefully, the pix in Sunday’s Snooze is not doing him justice……”

Get real. That’s as ridculous as today’s paper with an article on Michelle Obama’s ‘presidential wife look’.

  20. jason330 says:

El Som not only calls Dave out on this issue – but on his whole corrupt bullshit GOP worldview.

Bravo El Somnambulo. Viva El Somnambulo!

You continue to provide an invaluable service to the blog-ista.

  21. RSmitty says:

The beast who slumbers also slumbers on facts when convenient.

Again, let me go to your House Rep God, Schwartzkopf, who was OK with the house version last year. The bill that found a death in the desk drawer across the way. If the GOP version was soooo bad, why did he ‘fess that he was OK with it on air with Nelson? He certainly wants Peterson’s version watered down.

Your little swipe also doesn’t apply to me, El sin facto. One thing that deeply perturbs me are people that have to bullshit their way to promoting their supposed facts (meaning no lab for me). You’ve finally shown that you are no more non-partisan than most others involved in politics. Bravo, you’re a regular person! Apparently a mole, but a regular person, none-the-less.

  22. FSP says:

Not to mention that the entire Dem caucus voted against HB 4 until they got exposed on it.

Also, how did the Democratic transparency bills fare last year? What is that you say? There were no Democratic transparency bills? And the Democrats fought against spending transparency in the Senate and in committee in the House?

No wonder you’re anonymous. It’s harder to get laughed out of the room that way.

  23. RSmitty says:

…HB 4 until they got exposed on it.
    Except for one, lone dissenter.

  24. El Somnambulo says:

One need not be anonymous to be laughed out of the room, Junior, as you’ve proven time and time again only to return here after your latest ‘business venture’ proves as well-conceived as your analysis.

And as Mini-Burrito knows, only R legislation would make it through an R house. This year, good legislation will make it to the Governor and will be signed.

No doubt, the Rethugs are as scared locally as they are nationally, b/c once good legislation finally passes, people will like it (universal health care at the Fed level) and realize that they’ve been screwed over during the last 20 years.

And now, some BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, or her holographic likeness, will make an announcement about Biden’s Senate seat today at 2:30 in her Carvel Bldg. office. El Somnambulo has this on good authority.

  25. FSP says:

    Ted Kaufman.

  26. FSP says:

“One need not be anonymous to be laughed out of the room, Junior, as you’ve proven time and time again only to return here after your latest ‘business venture’ proves as well-conceived as your analysis.”

Does it anger you that DTR is making money in this economic environment?

Are you using a state computer right now? Is that legal?

  27. FSP says:

“And as Mini-Burrito knows, only R legislation would make it through an R house.”

You want me to list the bills that passed the House last year that were opposed by a majority of R’s?

  28. delawaredem says:

A broken clock is right twice a day.

  29. FSP says:

Not for nothing, but we broke Rochford and the KWS judgments, too. So if El Nobrainsulo wants to criticize our business, it’s worth pointing out how mistaken he is.

  30. El Somnambulo says:

El Somnambulo believes that he has struck a nerve. Either that or Donvitti has assumed a new alias.

El Nobrainsulo? Does that sound better on the radio? Must be a couple a’ trogs loosening up their suspenders and hunkering down over that witticism.

  31. FSP says:

You clearly understand that you’ve been put to shame on this one. That pleases me.

  32. El Somnambulo says:

El Somnambulo will say one more thing before it’s Siesta time. Feel free to declare victory, it will make you feel better.

Is El Somnambulo the only one who notices that El Burrito Junior only resurfaces when he has something else to promote? His political career (currently playing on an oldies station)? The next Great White Hope of the Rethugs (El Somnambulo knows that this is redundant), or his latest business venture?

El Somnambulo knows that you can’t win a flame war (not like the one that El Somnambulo and the Sheik fought in a sold-out Cobo Arena) with someone who won’t flame off.

So El Somnambulo will simply close with this musical suggestion from Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks: “How Can I Miss You When You Won’t Go Away?”

    Buenos Noches, Senor.

  33. jason330 says:

Viva El Somnambulo. The Nerve Striker!

  34. FSP says:

“El Somnambulo knows that you can’t win a flame war …. with someone who won’t flame off.”

And constantly losing arguments and making a general idiot of yourself is no way to go about it, either.

  35. FSP says:

Plus, I’ve been in flame wars with Dana Garrett. You’re not even in the same galaxy as he is.
