Carney Setting Up To Run For Congress
It looks like the race to fill Castle’s open seat in 2010 just got it’s first campaigner.
Lt. Gov. John Carney has decided “beyond a doubt” that he’s “running for a federal office in 2010,” according to a source close to his campaign operation. He has a couple of private sector job offers that will allow him the freedom to attend campaign related activities for the next two years, according to another source close to Carney.
This was nearly lost in Williams’ unseemly sucking of Tom Gordon’s ***k this morning.

That’s good news! It could mean either House or Senate though.
UI…you’re talking to Jason there. It’s a given it’s for Castle’s OPEN seat in 2010. It has to be. There is no other way. Senate? Feh.
I suppose its progress that Carney isn’t looking at a state-funded job that lets him campaign for a few years.
Hey, where’s the story on Thurmon Adams retaining his leadership post in the Senate? You can hear it now from those dems all across the state….that darn Thurmon, keeping the desk drawer veto, and open government and anything else the group of 11 opposes out. Darn that guy. What are we to do…blah, blah, blah. Boy, I bet they’re getting a good laugh today and a BIG sigh of relief. They can start the blame game while behind the scenes breathing a sigh of relief. They ran on change and open government, but like Obama, there really isn;’t going to be much real change. The blame game is all set up. Change you can belive in!!!!
Carney is running for the Senate seat.
Go Carney Go!
And Anonnie, fair point. But if Adams starts desk-drawering, I’m not going to take it lying down and neither will Markell. For my part, I’m working on a plan to get every Senator to go on the record for or against Civil Unions. If we have the votes and Adams blocks, I’ll go national with it. We’ll bring the protestors right to Adams’ doorstep – see how long the old man holds out then.
Carney is running for the Senate seat.
House seat.
Senate seat.
Just kidding . . . House seat makes more sense. BTW, what the hell are you doing by writing a believable post based on a Ron William’s column? What’s next?
Good point. Williams’ note probably means that Carney is moving to Utah to raise alpacas.
I would love to see hundreds of my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters descend on Bridgeville. They wouldn’t know what to do!
Now that would be an Apple Scrapple festival to remember.
anonnie-I think you mean it’s change you can RELIVE in.
Oh man – I didn’t want him to be my GOVERNOR much less represent Delaware on a national level. Oh well. I suppose I can alwyas have fun writing more letters to the editors.
MJ – can you imagine all those drag queens in Bridgeville? OH YEAH…I’ll be there. How about we invite the DC Cowboys for entertainment?
Suzanne opted for the center -right Markell administration.
Belinsky – I am actually quite a liberal lefty. I have met Markell and I have met Carney – I have talked to both of them – and I feel a lot better with Markell and Denn heading Delaware then Carney. Maybe it’s my disappointment in the Minner administration – who knows. He was a big part of the administration and if Carney wanted to show me that he can do more then he should have done that during the last 4 to 8 years. I want more then a certified ribbon-cutter for Delaware.
Jack’s most recent announcements do indicate to me that he will be going (maybe) center right on the states economic and financial issues but Jack will never be center right on social issues. I don’t expect his appointments will be either.
