Gary here was more than happy to give me a minute of his time to talk about the Property Tax hike in NCC.  Unfortunately, we were interupted by a nutcase with an agenda of her own.  Comedy gold I tell you.

The “takeaway” for me is that to have a movement like this, one indispensable ingredient is an army of imbeciles that will “sit up” and “roll over” on cue like a bunch of trained collies.

The ability to eagerly work against their own financial interests is an important part of being a middle class conservative.

  2. Unstable Isotope says:

LOL. Did she think you were an ACORN operative? I had a hard time hearing Gary, but he did not sound like a nut to me? He was against the 25% NCCo tax hike because…?

  3. Unstable Isotope says:

Even my brother the wingnut (he likes Beck and Rush) thinks the “tea parties” are a bit of a joke. He posted the Anderson Cooper video on FB. I hope the Republican silliness is putting some thoughts in his head about distancing himself from Republicans. He also had to admit that the stimulus package saved his job.

  4. liberalgeek says:

That person was Shirley from the Delaware Curmudgeon and she apparently does not like DelawareLiberal and was afraid that DelawareLiberal would be making fun of this old man.

I actually think that it is kind of funny. It’s like she wants to treat Gary as if he needs to be protected by a nanny state.

  5. Truth Teller says:

Why is it when BUSH spent Billions in Iraq no protest. Now that Obama wants to spend Billions on America up pops Tea parties?????

  6. Unstable Isotope says:

Did she appoint herself to anti-nut patrol? I guess I can see why she calls herself a curmudgeon.

  7. pandora says:

Shirley was a little quick off the mark. She should have walked over the second she saw you and listened to the interview – which was very respectful. If she had done this and you crossed a line, she could have jumped in.

The way she handled it was far more insulting to Gary than to you.

  8. anonone says:

Did she appoint herself to anti-nut patrol?

    Heh-heh.

That is freakin’ priceless — and sort of the libertarian story, right? They hate the nanny state except for their nanny state. Love that……

“Why is it when BUSH spent Billions in Iraq no protest. Now that Obama wants to spend Billions on America up pops Tea parties?????”

    It’s obvious, TT.

Obama’s black and these Palin supporters just wanted one more opportunity to let their hate flag fly.

  11. People love to assume. I made fun of no one and mocked no one. I saw Dana G doing some interviews and since I’m not 6’5″ and scarey as shit looking I didn’t have the balls to ask the questions he was asking people.

  12. VC,

their hate flags are patriotic! what are yours? Red with a sickle?

  13. Von Cracker says:

    Red with five gold stars.

Like a true Capitalist, just supportin’ where the Dollars are!

  14. Geezer says:

“They’re trying to make you look like an asshole.”

Well, she ought to know. She has always come off like an asshole on line, and now I can see she’s even more of one in real life.

  15. vc,

that was my favorite sign last night was the one that supports Capitalism and says nothing about Democracy.

    amazing

  16. pandora says:

I have now watched a lot of videos (From DL to FOX) and, is it just me, or do most people attending these tea parties have no flippin’ idea of what they’re talking about?

They’re trying to make you look like an asshole.

Hell, no one even broke a sweat trying.

(although, I wouldn’t use the term asshole.)

  17. Geezer says:

You’re right, asshole isn’t strong enough. It’s an obnoxious breach of etiquette to interrupt a reporter talking to someone, or someone talking to a reporter.

She should rename her blog “ramblings of a self-righteous asshole.” Or worse.

  18. RSmitty says:

Yeah, she sure the hell lives up to her Curmudgeony name, but I’m curious as to why she was shut out of the after-party reception at Iron Hill.

  19. pandora says:

Loved this picture! Ayn Rand would be proud.

  20. Unstable Isotope says:

Only you can make yourself look like an asshole. If you talk reasonably to an obnoxious reporter, the reporter looks like an asshole, not you. I guess Bill O’Reilly hasn’t learned that yet.

For the record, I thought Gary seemed like a reasonable man with a message. Shirley came across as an angry asshole. DV came off as quite reasonable.

  21. I’m a reporter! wooohoooo

  22. Geezer says:

D(SDM)V: Indeed you are, whether you realized it or not. The 1st Amendment does not protect the freedom of the “professional” press, or the “objective” press, or the “accredited” press. All the press, including the electronic press.

  23. I can’t wait to be a radio show host and really get to stir up some hate!

  24. RSmitty says:

You can’t get drunk on-air on a daily basis, tho.

  25. cassandra_m says:

C’mon Smitty — they have to be high on something to do that, don’t they?

  26. anonone says:

    Of course you do.

  27. liberalgeek says:

FWIW, I joined the Delaware Press association last week.

  28. I have heard rumors of a property tax hike in this realm, but I thought it was pure conjecture. It looks like, now, that it is more of a reality than anything else. I personally think that this is just too much of a hike. It is unrealistic and unfair.
