You can’t teabag anyone without dancing first
One of the surprises of the day besides learning Charlie Copeland is worried about his grandchildren’s bills and that Mike Protack organized the event and that Rick Jenson can stir up the hate was that a teabaggin can’t happen until you have a dance off. I wonder if our country’s first teabaggers had music?

Let’s put some perspective on the Tax Day Tea Party. I was glad to help many others who worked hard to make the event a huge success. The key word is “many others” who gave up their free time to speak out and attend.
The main people who made the event possible came from all political beliefs and the core was not part of the Republican Party. Many of you find that hard to believe but I know most of the GOP activists and not one Tax Day Tea Party people were Republican delegates or committee people.
The Tax Day Tea Party people were folks who believe in a few basic principles and are looking for political leadership to make those principles a reality.
It as wrong when Pres Bush spent too much and Congress went along with it and now it is more critical. Also, I think tax simplification and reform is much more important than tax cuts.
Mike Protack
and now it is more critical
Only because the president is a Democrat.
Yep, A1. Eight years of Bush deficits + 3 months of Obama = OMG deficits!
The News Journal reported the story but was wrong on a few things. First there were over 700 people.
There were many people involved in the Tea Party and most of us were not angry but wanted to speak out in a positve way.
The team of organizers were always looking to include everyone and while Mike Protack was a key part there were many more of us who did some of the heavy lifting and Mike will be the first to admit it.
The only disappointment was the hijacking of the event at the beginning by the Delaware GOP and Charles Copeland. I don’t think Mr. Copeland attended any of the planning or did any work for the event. At least he was not there when I was.
If you paid attention the republican party invited some media only to hear Copeland who may support the issues but certainly is not one of us.
Most of us are apoltical because of stunts like this one and if this sort of self promotion happens again the Tax day fervor will diminish quickly. This movement grew out of Glenn Beck’s 9/12 cause.
The media left because they got some people talking & crowd shots and it was after 4pm. They’re not going to hang out for 2.5 hours to video the entire event. It’s common knowledge that events done earlier in the day will get better coverage since they are not rushing for the 5 or 6pm broadcast.
It doesn’t matter – both 6 & 29 pretty much skipped Wilmington in their coverage. WDEL did do a fair job:

700 people my ass
Hey, CR, what’s your take on:
from supposed non-Protack-support “9/12 Supporter” above, in comment #4?
Rsmitty – I attended one of the planning meetings and was told Copeland was invited to speak. I don’t know the details of the invite but people at the meeting were excited that his ancester was in the original tea party.
I think it’s unfair to say the event was hijacked. The organizers asked the state GOP to help and used their offices for planning. It would have been a much smaller event if the GOP people had not been involved.
I don’t know the story about the media, but they didn’t come to hear Copeland speak. The philly stations could give a rat’s a$$ about Charlie Copeland…they were just looking for a riot to show on the evening news and they left ’cause nothing violent was going on. If the state GOP got them there, good for them. You’ll also note that WDEL only showed the college kid and the old man.
CR – In all fairness, you should probably be aware of the antagonistic view I have of a certain ne’erdowell, but something tells me you have this knowledge of that (and of me) already, although I have no clue who you are, and the history (and my 😈 intent) is known. In other words, I’m stirring the pot, trying to keep Mr Jeremy honest. Oh, to clarify, I don’t think you, Charlie, or the rest of resolutedetermination are any of the above.
