Help Wanted.

The Delaware conservative blogosphere is very adequately represented on the pages of Delaware Politics, Resolute Determination, Common Sense Political Thought and the Colossus of Rhodey. And that is just the fire breathing theocon neocon lying Republicans. Other conservative thought is represented by Delaware Libertarian and the Mourning Constitution. Amazingly however, all of the bloggers at those sites must be horribly inadequate. For why would someone place an ad on Craigslist advertising for a conservative blogger that is knowledgeable about Delaware politics when the talent already exists and is easily discoverable with just one Google search.

I’m looking for a conservative writer that knows Delaware state politics.

You will be required to write at least one article per week related to Delaware state politics.

We are looking for opinion columnists, not news reporters. If you’re touching on a news topic be sure to add your own commentary.

Writers will have their own RSS feed, iPhone App, Twitter account, Facebook Page, an e-mail account, e-mail subscription system, and space for audio podcasts if you decide to make those as well.

Please contact townhallfm@gmail.com if you’re interested and for further information! Make sure you include “Delaware Conservative Writer” in the subject to be considered.

This is wildly insulting to our conservative brethen who are already knowledgeable about state politics and already established as bloggers. But maybe they don’t want David Anderson or Dana Pico or Hube or Maria Evans. Maybe they require someone to be simply a talking points machine with no modicum of intelligence. Is it me, or does this sound like the perfect career move for an airline pilot we all know.

  1. Maybe because the predictable writers at Delaware Politics are not that very interesting, I am inconsistent, and Newton would be unable to meet the word limit?

  2. Wait a minute…people get paid to write their opinions?

  3. cassandra_m says:

    More wingnut welfare apparently.

  4. Going to Google (townhallfm) looks like they hit many states. They are going to lure said-applicant in and go all Larry Craig on him. Hence the preference of applicant. I bet they are going to have a “twitter” account!

I think I am disqualified from the job.

  5. Steve Newton says:

I actually got a solicitation directly from these folks about three weeks ago. They are socially conservative enough to run for office at a SCCOR meeting. I turned them down, even though had they ever actually read my blog they would probably be happy with that.

I suspect that David Anderson probably also got such a solicitation. I don’t know about you guys but I get that kind of solicitation to supposedly “go national” about once every six weeks from some far right group.

  6. Airline Captain, not pilot.

    Thanks

  7. anon says:

Google still shows craigslist posts in CA,CT,NV,CO,AZ,AL,AR – all flagged for deletion from craigslist by the author; they will have disappeared from the Internet in a few hours.

  8. Delaware Dem says:

Steve, well I started nationally at Daily Kos and I, and others like me (DCDemocrat at West Virginia Blue, TeacherKen at Raising Kaine, Hekebolos et al at Calitics), fanned out and started or joined state and local blogs. It looks like the national conservative blogosphere is finally trying to do the same thing. The problem is they are searching for the talent. That is not how you do it. You have to take the writers you have that have a following and have them start local blogs. Or use the local blogs that already exist.

  9. Airline Captain, not pilot.

DD – you have been corrected! 😯

  10. Delaware Dem says:

I stand by original statement. He is a pilot, no matter his rank.

  11. I have gotten a some national solicitations as well, but they won’t allow any cross posting and own whatever you write for them. I would have to promote them on our site, but I couldn’t promote DP on their site. Most didn’t pay enough to interest me. I wouldn’t be able to take the family out to McDonald’s.

Who knows maybe conservative blogging will hit the big time.

  12. Von Cracker says:

“The Delaware conservative blogosphere is very adequately represented”….

    by this guy.

  13. The cat is out of the bag. I have concluded negotiations with this particular national blog and accepted not long after my comment. They actually accepted all of my conditions including checking background on the editor. I can cross post when warranted and write national, regional, and local topics and own my writings. Your concern is relieved. Jason O’Neil also was brought on recently as well so maybe you were a little off about Mike, but you did get one of his contributors. The Conservative Delaware blogosphere will be represented by people you know and love (at least sometimes).

The funny thing is I believe your post helped. Thanks. I feel the love. I hope it is not the case of the devil you know…. 🙂 I am a saint, my mother says so. Signed Your friendly “Fire breathing theocon neocon lying Republican” –You guys crack me up.

  14. xstryker says:

Congratulations, David. It’s a good thing you held out for fairer terms – you know those conservatives will screw you over if you don’t wantch out. 😉

  15. And the compensation is not one to replace one’s salary. You are paid by the Google Ad clicks.

This is not about getting compensated. This is about sharing my ideas and opinions.

We shall see where this goes. So come one over to Conservative.FM. You might learn something.

  16. yes David, this post helped you like we helped out CRI.

  17. anon says:

    David, say hi to Celia…

  18. Hey, you guys criticizing CRI will probably raise another 5K for it. You should do it once a month about fundraising letter time.

  19. XStryker, conservatives are out for themselves and so are liberals, the difference is that conservatives admit it. 🙂 No, seriously, this guy is cool, unlike some.

  20. anon says:

you guys criticizing CRI will probably raise another 5K for it.

If CRI needs $5k they don’t need to beg for it. Their wealthy backers have $5k in their sofa cushions.

  21. Art Downs says:

It is always amusing when the word ‘neocon’ is sloppily used to attack conservatives per se.

Its gratuitous use may be similar to the larding of any discussion with irrelevant vulgarity. It is a display of an inability to score points through logic alone.

Just what is meant by “neocon”? The term was initially used by some traditional conservatives to define the newcomers who had come out of the cold of the not-too-far left on National Security grounds to support a Republican (or cause championed by one) but might be bringing some Liberal baggage with them.

Politics is a dynamic game and many partisan positions have reversed. Many Democrats are now in the protectionist camp but Republicans seemed to have learned something from the dismal results of Smoot-Hawley. Some (such as Pat Buchanan) would return us to isolationism.

Would Truman have been a proto-Neocon for his doctrine of containment? Many on the far left reviled the intervention in Greece, establishment of NATO, and the Marshall Plan. His predecessor as VP chose to make a Third Party run under the Progressive label.

Could the same be said about JFK? He did cut ludicrously high marginal income tax rates, something that Ike failed to do. He also seemed to run to the right of Nixon on National Security issues.

One should understand the meaning of words before using them and be seen foolish. Then again, in the land of the blind, Cyclops would be king.

  22. Geezer says:

Now you know why conservatives are so ill-informed. Imagine getting all your information about a place from David Anderson and Jason O’Neill.

  23. anon says:

It is always amusing when the word ‘neocon’ is sloppily used to attack conservatives per se.

If the shoe fits, live in it.

Once the neocons started blowing shit up, all the morans jumped on the bandwagon. All the yahoos who supported the invasion of Iraq now belong to the neocons. The neocon philosophy is now irreversably fused with common American jingoism. There are no more sane hawks. From now on, to be a “hawk” is to be a neocon.

“Neocon” means the abandonment of classic diplomacy (check), irrational aggression and insertion of the US military (check), and willingness to use nuclear weapons (they’re working on it).

  24. anon says:

If you chuckled when you heard conservatives refer to the “Defeat-o-crats” – you are a neocon.
