Balance? Never on Sunday

Filed in Uncategorized by on March 13, 2007

Media Matters has done a survey of the Sunday morning talk shows and found that they are still more conservative than liberal. The leading theory on the imbalance in the past has been that the Republic Party had controlled both houses of Congress, so they got more time. Since the Dems won both houses one might expect the coverage to change, but no. In fact, MTP and FTN have been less balanced than Fox News Sunday (the least balanced, over time). The only balanced Sunday morning show is ABC’s This Week.

Can we start getting off of this BS liberal media trip that the neocons have been peddling for years?

Interesting results, these. I would have thought it was the other way around, but I guess my unscientific sample is that Joe Biden is on every pundit show every Sunday. That said, I wonder if the selection of guests is based on demographics, as in more Sunday AM viewers are conservative. Libs are either not out of bed yet or are watching Comedy Central for their political news.

I thought the Republicans were at church. Most of us liberals are awake and recovering from our fornication and illicit activities by 10 AM on Sunday.
And when Joe is the only liberal (I use that term loosely) on the show and he is offset by 3 conservatives. It ain’t balanced. The real bummer here is that Lieberman probably counts as a liberal here also…

LG, you must remember that Biden talks more than any three people put together.

Agreed. Which is impressive. I find it hard to continue talking with my foot in my mouth…

My guess is these guys beg to be on the TV shows and get their wish. Being the family men that they are I’m surprised they aren’t at home with their families on the Lord’s Sabbath though….
