Around the Horn Friday: Think Spring Edition

Welcome to Around the Horn for Sunshine Week. The legislature was in session this week, so they generated some headlines with some of our favorite blogs.

Citizens for a Better Sussex has got a website up and running, but it hurts my head to look at it…

Hube is annoyed that Special Ed students can get away with acts that non-Special Ed students cannot. I can see his point, but there are obviously cases in which special ed students deserver more latitude especially when their actions are related to their disability.

Over at Delaware Grapevine, Celia has an interesting story about how Mike Castles role in selecting judges has been diminished by the White House’s reaction to the November election results.

Dana has a post rushing (justifiably) to the aid of John Atkins for not being able to defend itself. The possible motive? The future political aspirations of Wayne Smith…

Jack Markell’s Blog for Delaware has finally been updated with a post about Delawell, a wellness program for State employees.

JttR has Ahnold as the Hack of the week for CA’s decision to move up their primary to Feb 5th.

Karmic Jay has some thoughts on how we are letting our neighborhoods and infrastructure deteriorate while engaging in foreign adventures.

Kavips has a remembrance of Wayne Smith arguing with  Dick Cathcart over thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative, linked by some to autism.

Kilroy thinks that since John Atkins stepped down from all committees we should let bygone be bygones and instead find out what the hell the police were thinking for letting him go.

Over at Liberal Delight Ryan gives kudos to Dana Rohrabacher for supporting an asteroid defense system.  I give Rohrabacher kudos for being willing to go on Bill Maher’s show so often.

Mike Mahaffie is pondering the move to a $9M fort on the Canadian border.  If you go, I’ll come visit.

MOT Newbie is suffering through the preparations for baby #3 and celebrating his boy’s elevation to Majority leader. Good to see that you’re posting again, buddy.

Nancy at Delaware Way is chock full of good stuff this week.  Some Atkins, some turtles and another brewing scandal in the White House, circumvention of the Presidential Records Act.

Saving the best for last, Tommywonk has coverage of lots of wonderfully wonky issues, including yard waste bans at Cherry Island,  Christina’s disservice to Wilmington students and an essay contest.  I’ll be working on my essay the weekend…
