Mike Castle to Avoid Questioning at the Beach

Filed in Uncategorized by on April 11, 2007

Mike Castle will be receiving a series of “happy ending” massages from the media on a two day stint in Sussex County beginning tomorrow.

At 11 a.m. on April 12, Mike Castle will be joined by the state’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control secretary John Hughes at the picnic pavilion in Cape Henlopen State Park to announce a legislative initiative to add the American Discovery Trail, which starts or ends in the state park, to the national Trails System.

At noon on April 12, Castle will speak about wasteful government defense spending to the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach.

At 10:30 a.m. on April 13, Castle will discuss the risks of skin cancer at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. [Journalists please take note: Skin cancer kills about 2,000 Americans each year. Bush’s illegal war on Iraq that Castle supports kills four Americans each day, but questions about his votes supporting George Bush are strictly forbiden at this event.]

I give you your congressman ladies and gentleman. I know you are just bursting with pride at what a go getter he is.

so skin cancer kills more americans than the war in Iraq… and your point is?

  2. jason330 says:

That’s right steamy, you got me. The occupation of Iraq is just great and we should not worry our pretty little heads about it.

Just have faith in Mr. Bush and Mr. Castle and everythintg will be a-okay.

but the war on Iraq creates more amputees….

  4. Disbelief says:

HEY, keep quiet. If bush finds out skin cancer kills more people than the war, he might occupy Johns Hopkins and declare all the doctors terrorists, abrogate their Constitutional rights, and start torturing them.

  5. anon says:

How did the bullshit teleconference push poll go? Did any “journalists” in Delaware “cover” it.

“I give you your congressman ladies and gentleman. I know you are just bursting with pride at what a go getter he is.”

Any word on how well Amtrack is doing? I seem to remember that was the top priority for Castle last year. As for Castle’s silence on Iraq, I wish he’d borrow some balls from McCain. Don’t see it happening, though.

  7. donviti says:

G Rex did you really say this: “As for Castle’s silence on Iraq, I wish he’d borrow some balls from McCain.”

you mean wearing a bp vest in the middle of Baghdad after declaring the streets are safe sort of balls

Or do you mean when he gave Fallwell a hug kind of balls

If I had my choice I take silence over out right hypocrisy any day.

    Maverick my freaking ass.

  8. G Rex says:

No, McCain came out and said that he supports the war, however unpopular that may be as a political position. McCain has been critical of the way the war in Iraq has been fought, but always stood by his decision to vote to authorize it. This is in stark contrast to everybody on the Democratic side, who are pretending they were tricked into voting by GWB’s Machiavellian scheming. Castle is just ducking the issue like a punk.

The way you put it sounds like you don’t think that the Democrats were tricked by GWB’s Machiavellian scheming into voting for the war. That is odd, since it is quite clear that they were tricked.

Wait a second. You can’t think that Saddam had WMD’s, can you? You might as well dispute some other settled fact while you are at it. Let’s see…

    The earth is flat..?

The planets travel around the sun..?

  10. anon says:

And by the way. You’re right about Castle. He is a punk.

  11. G Rex says:

“Wait a second. You can’t think that Saddam had WMD’s, can you? You might as well dispute some other settled fact while you are at it.”

If he had them, they’re either in Syria or buried deeply enough that they haven’t been found. It’s a big country. If he didn’t have them anymore, he was going to build more as soon as we gave up on the weapons inspection charade. Either way, Saddam was certainly trying to make it look like he had them, like a street punk with his finger in his jacket pocket; you have to assume it’s a gun.

  12. anon says:

like a street punk with his finger in his jacket pocket; you have to assume it’s a gun.

Right. So when a street punk holds me up with a finger in his pocket, the police should shoot him, kill everyone in his family and all his neighbors, blow up his house, build a police station on his street, and put a lockdown on his neighborhood. I get it now.

  13. G Rex says:

Way to ruin a perfectly good analogy with absurdity. Go ahead and argue that Saddam was contained, that sanctions and inspections were working, and that Oil-for-Food was good for the Iraqi people. I’m not holding my breath.

  14. jason330 says:

Actually G, the original analogy was not perfectly good, but kind of silly and ignorant of the facts.

Saddam was contained, had no weapons of mass destruction and not a threat to the United States. He had allowed inspectors in who were within months reporting that Iraq had no capacity to build or deploy chemical or nuclear weapons when we attacked.

As for Castle, as I’ve said before, people come to their Castle revulsion in a number of ways and they are all valid.

  15. jason330 says:

That CNN link contains a lot of Administration spin, so it is my hope that you can sift the fantasy from reality.

  16. Tyler Nixon says:

This thread is great, you guys are on fire! Seriously, this is what makes politics worth the passion and thought…

anon – I know you hate me and every atom of my existence, at least until my voter registration card changes, but allow me to say your analogy was brilliant and made me laugh out loud.

Jason – glad you’re back buddy. Year hiatus? Jyeahh…sure…it’s in your DNA to mix it up, especially against this war. Much respect here for you, for that.

    Regards.

  17. donviti says:

rumor has it that not only Saddam have WMD’s

    but

dinosaurs shared space with sheep on Noah’s ark

  18. jason330 says:

    Hey Tyler,

How could I stay away when ever day the Bush casually admit some new level of lawless and Mike Castle gets a free pass to continue enabling him?

Did you happen to see today’s lawbreaking?

    The law says:

“Federal law requires the preservation of electronic communications sent or received by White House staff,” says the handbook that all staffers are given and expected to read and comply with. […]

    The White House say:

I guess the bottom line is that our policy at the White House was not clear enough for employees.

  19. Tyler Nixon says:

It would take a full-time job to keep up with the daily revelations of un-checked flagrant lawlessness suffused throughout every level of this administration.

It is hard to not be shocked. But it is impossible to be (or have ever been) surprised. These guys have no moral, ethical, or legal bottom.

The question, before 1/2009, will remain : how low can they go? That is the scariest part of all.

  20. G Rex says:

    Point by point, Jason:

    “Saddam was contained…”

Right, so long as everybody in the region was helping him smuggle oil out, while the Euros were letting him get massive kickbacks from Oil-for-Food in return for bribes and business deals. (see also Elf-Aquitaine and Agip)

“…had no weapons of mass destruction and (was) not a threat to the United States.”

See above post of 2:39. Did Madame Pelosi ask Bashar Assad to confirm or deny the existence of smuggled Iraqi WMDs in the Bekaa Valley? No, she thinks the road to peace runs through Damascus.

“He had allowed inspectors in who were within months (of) reporting that…”

Right, and while Iraqi troops blocked the UN inspectors at the front door, they were loading trucks and driving them out the back door. We have pictures. Of course, this could have been a deception on the part of Saddam to hint to his regional enemies that he still had weapons or the capacity to build them. Meanwhile, his AAA was shooting at Coalition planes patrolling the UN mandated no-fly zones.

“…Iraq had no capacity to build or deploy chemical or nuclear weapons when we attacked.”

Good. If nothing else, it means we got there in time. Preemption is for real.

  21. anon says:

    smuggled Iraqi WMDs

Oh man, how the right has degraded the definition of “WMDs.” A few truckloads of nerve gas, or even a half-assed fusion device buried in the sand somewhere is a concern, but is not a serious threat to the US. Even if employed to their maximum potential – which is u likely – the above listed devices are not worth the loss to American prestige, the destruction of miltary readiness, and the damage to the economy resulting from the so-called GWOT.

  22. donviti says:

G rex how come you seem to know so much about the WMD’s but we haven’t heard any of this from the President himself.

Seems to me that if you know this then he should?

but I guess you are right….

  23. Hank Gathers says:

You say Skin cancer kills about 2,000 Americans each year- where did you get this from?

But I still don’t get your math.

Jayson says Bush’s illegal war on Iraq that Castle ,BIDEN AND CARPER supports kills four Americans each day.

I thought the death toll was 3,292?

Your math has it about 6000.

    Please explain?

  24. jason330 says:

The skin cancer number was from that magic and all knowing oracle known as “google”. The current death rate in Iraq is about 4.35 per day (for American – who know how many Iraqis die each day, lets just say “many”).

And I don’t know what the injury rate is, but an acquaintance who is being deployed told me that he could not afford to get out of Iraq.

    “Afford it?” I asked innocently.

“Yep. It costs an arm and a leg.”

That’s what they call gallows humor.

  25. Hank Gathers says:

Are you saying 4.35 people are killed in Iraq every day that are U.S. soldiers?

  26. jason330 says:

Okay. I double checked and that average includes 6 United Kingdom fatalities. The orginal post says 4.

49 U.S. Soldiers so far this month = 3.77 per day.

So much human refuse as far as Castle is concerned.

  27. Hank Gathers says:

I see what you are now trying to say, but Carper and Biden voted for this too. I don’t know if it fair to only blame Castle becasue he is a Republican. Shouldn’t we hold those whose party we are part of to a higher standard first?

I liked Castle’s vote against the War Funding.

I want to see a true vote to see who wants to fund the war and who really wants the troops to come home now. I’m tired of those who call themselves progressive to get our vote and then continue to pay for this war.

We need an Up or Down vote about the funding for the war. With no money for peanut or shrimp! Keep up the Hard work

  28. jason330 says:

I liked Castle’s vote against the War Funding.

If you are talking about HR1591, you’ve been duped. That was a vote for George Bush and his unaccountable imperial Presidency.

The shrimp are red herrings. That was an up or down vote. Castle voted against it because it had a timeline and his master laid down the law, “No timeline!”

As for the Democrats both Biden and Carper voted for the Senate version that also inclided a timeline and more funding for training.

Now we are sending units into Iraq with 10 days worth of training. 10 days!!! And Castle says he supports the troops.
