Bush Family Pet to Resign

Filed in Uncategorized by on May 1, 2007

British PM Tony Blair will announce his resignation in the next week. With that move, the Bush family will have to house break another pet before they can make him do tricks (like roll-over and play dead). Blair has fallen from grace in the UK mostly due to his ties to BushCo. He is yet another world leader who has lost his job because of that relationship. Thank God the Bulgarians haven’t pulled their 155 troops out of the coalition of the willy-nilly.

I found this quote from when the Italians pulled out after Prodi beat Berlusconi largely on the Iraq issue.

“The Italian contingent is going back. The mission is accomplished — the security of the province is in your hands”, Minister of Defence Arturo Parisi said to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

That’s the key. Let’s just say that the mission is accomplished, but leave instead of staying until the last throes are complete. Happy Mission Accomplished Day everyone.

If my contempt for Blair was laid lengthwise it would stretch to Alpha Centauri.

He should have known better and was one of the few people in the world who could have stopped the Iraq debacle.

    Good riddance.

And Blair is being run out by the same politicians and citizens of the country, that have recently saw fit to have the “Holocaust” removed from school teaching lest it offend Muslims. So, forgive me if my opinion differs from theirs. Blair was one of seemingly few “politicians” with enough political guts to “do the right thing”. He has a big picture point of view. Not a “what feels good today” attitude.

    *sigh*

The right thing? Please go into a bit of detail. Or do the nurses only let you on the computer for an hour at a time in your wing of the state hospital?

  4. oedipa maas says:

Snopes.com says this is not correct

One history department in one school scaled back its teaching, but it certainly looks as though that is being corrected.

The tell? One minister (Brown?) recently caught holy heck for telling the world that Muslim women in the UK should not expect to be successful communicators in the UK if they are wearing full face veils. He is quite right, I think, but a government that is telling Muslims how to exist better in the West is not abandoning teaching the holocaust.

Blair signed on to George’s Big Adventure in an effort to make Labour look Tough on National Defence (TM). Thatcher and Reagan were successful belligerents, and Blair thought he could get some of that. Unfortunately for him, GWB did not have Reagan’s smarts or Reagan’s shrewd staff. GWB has pretty single-handedly damaged the astonishing legacy Blair looked ready to claim.

The thing that Blair has done that GWB can’t bring himself to do is to wind down the involvement of his troops. Not fast enough to save is rep, but he is getting out.

Ah yes. Conservative=LoonyBin. Not surprised by that response.

“The Right Thing” is protecting this country by playing offense. You, and those individuals sharing your point of view may disagree, but fighting the battle in Iraq is the right strategy. The greatest justification for the war came from John Kerry himself. Though in his pomposity he actually thought he was downing the war. In one of the televised debates he said that Iraq had become a quagmire. That terrorists from all over the world were pouring into Iraq to join the fight. –CONTINUED–

  6. Chris says:

I did a double take when he said that. Let’s try that rephrased. “Terrorists, sworn to destroy America, that are annonymously living lives in dozens of sovereign nations while plotting what terrible acts they can commit on the men, women, and children of the “Great Satan” of America, are outing themselves and rushing into the deserts of Iraq where the best fighting men and women of the world stand
poised with tanks, guns, and missles, to acquaint them with their 72 virgins.” Yeah, I guess that is a dumb plan….

Ah yes, like going after Bin Laden..? Oops. Bin Laden who?

Please Chris. I’m all for a reasonable exchange of views, but put your hero worship on the shelf and get real. This war has nothing to do with “protecting” America. Never did.

But say for the sake of argument that it IS to protect America. What have Bush and Blair done right? What possible jsutification can you give for keeping them in their jobs?

    Okay then.

  8. Chris says:

Hero worship? Kind of blanket statement is it not? This may come as a surprise to YOU but most conservatives, myself included, have many issues with how the President is handling things….just not on the war. We have problems with his lack of action on sealing the borders and his occasional caving in to liberals on social issues. But we have noting but respect for his handling of the war. Historians, 50 to 100 years from now, looking at the situation from a rational, objective point of view, will clearly see that the Iraq War was a brilliant strategic measure in dealing with the war on terror. The reasons for going in to Iraq were many. First the weapons of mass destruction. Yes…I know…according to media we were lied to an those weapons never existed. The problem is, the UN has documented proof that they existed. Numerous Iraqis reported to us that the weapons were there and were moved into neighboring countries prior to the invasion. Remember those several weeks where we had to publicly debate and announce our intentions to the the United Nations? Well…they actually have TV in Iraq too. It gave them plenty of time to move weapons in Syria. I am delusional right? (Saving you the trouble of coming up with your own knee jerk labels). In January 2003 the media jumped all over the President because terrorists were caught smuggling WMDs from Syria into Jordan with the intention of using them there. All the media was screaming that Bush went into the wrong country. Syria was the problem! Then the next day all the stories disappeared. Why? A search of a view trashy news rags like the Washington Times and the London Times showed that the terrorist admitted to training on and getting the weapons in Iraq and coming into Syria two weeks before the invasion. Why did that story disappear? Because the presidential election would have been over that day. Bush was right. Instead, to cover their tracks, the media dug out a 4 month old story, that they previously deemed a non-story, into a full fledged “scandal”…Abu Graib. Talk about Wag the Dog.

Why should Bush keep his job? He inhereited a recession (Tech bubble burst before he took office), using tax cuts he began the process of ending that. Then 911 happened, which should have plunged us into a recession that would have made the Carter years look good. Instead, he stuck to his guns on tax cuts and guess what? Not only did we not plunge into double digit inflation and double digit unemployment as we should have after 911, he actually managed to have a growing robust economy in a year and a half, and this DESPITE being involved in a war. He goes into Afghanistan and topples one regime (yes we are still rooting them out, but they are not in power anymore). He invaded Iraq and toppled Sadam in an amazingly short period of time. Installed a democracy in Iraq which has more voter participation, despite death threats, than we do here in this country. And, despite the media not mentioning this, citizens in Iran (a huge threat) are seeing this democracy and picturing it in their own country. This has lead to all the bravado from the Iranian leader, because he is trying to hide the internal stress that is occurring as a result of having a fledgling democracy next door. All this without so far having to fire a shot at a country with huge military assets and limited nuclear weapons.

If you still need more credentials to justify his keeping his job. I have them. That is without even having to compare him with what the Democrats were offering for President. Had Gore won the election (oh, I am sorry…you all still think he did) we would currently be paying reparations to the families of the hijackers on 911 and praying to Mecca 5 times a day…in the name of peace.

    Chris,

I’ve tried to back off my first impression that you are nuts and give you the benefit of the doubt, but then you write stuff like this:

But we have nothing but respect for his handling of the war. Historians, 50 to 100 years from now, looking at the situation from a rational, objective point of view, will clearly see that the Iraq War was a brilliant strategic measure in dealing with the war on terror.

That statement marks you as a crazy person. Sorry, but it mocks the meaning of the words “objective”, “brilliant” and “rational.” It mocks the very notion that words have meaning.

Your view of Bush and the war is so outside of reality that you might as well say:

“Historians 100 years from now will say that Bush was a 10,000 foot tall titanium robot from the planet “Furnox 10″ who had laser beams that shot out of his eyes and who converted himself into a rocket on occasion.”

It is just looney and closes off the possibility of any real dialogue.

Do yourself a favor and get some fresh air and think about turning off the fox news for a while.

    Have a nice day.

  10. Chris says:

So and opinion you disagree with is a crazy one? Every item in that statement is quite lucid and quite correct. However, because it is not the one you choose to believe it is also nuts.

Well, I find the idea that if we leave Iraq we will be better off and safer a crazy one. I suppose all the terrorists, grateful that we left, we leave us alone. Perphaps my view looks crazy because it is tough to see through all the sand that your head is in.

Again, you paint with a wide brush. I don’t have Fox News on, not even sure which channel it is. My homepage is CNN (though I question some of the angles of their stories)and routinely take in news from all points: CNN, MSNBC, NYTimes.

I have always found in my past that “open-minded” liberals are actually the most close-minded individuals. Because if someone does not share their same opinion, the person obviously does not have a grasp of the issue or reality.

Conservative are actually the most able to grasp serious issues like the war right now, because they are not blinded by the all-consuming obsession with regaining power. Look at the current slate of presidential candidates and compare them. Hilliary, who has just always wanted to be President. Obama, whom I am not sure actually knows what job he is applying for. Biden…well…you think I am nuts….. Cucinich..makes Biden look sane. All of them want to be President because they want the power. Not because they really have a desire to guide this country.

On the republican side we have McCain. I don’t always agree with him, but the man has integrity. Rudi. Again don’t always agree with him, but there is no questioning why he wants to be President. That man LOVES this country. Fred Thompson. I haven’t made up my mind on his reasonings for wanting to be President, and I am not sure he has either. But I am not saying he is off my list yet either. In any case all three are people of integrity. Not power hungry, self-absorbed, individuals. Bush never wanted to be President either but got in the race because there was not a GOP candidate that looked to be able to beat Gore, and he knew what a mess we would be in with Gore. If we all knew 9-11 was coming, Bush would have run away with that election too.

Don’t worry, this will be my last post today. I have to get to work. You know…building my tin foil hats…that is what you are picturing right?

  11. jason330 says:

    Sorry Chris,

Being “open-minded” has nothing to do with is something is real or unreal.

You can be as open-minded as you want about the fact that $1 million dollars is going to suddenly appear on your desk in a flash of blue light, but what good will it do you?

Similarly, no amount of open-mindedness related to the Iraq war will convert it into “a brilliant strategic measure.”

It is not my opinion that Bush is a failure and this war was bullshit from the outset. It is a simple fact.

Chris, good luck on your search for a Presidential candidate to the right of Bush. I suggest looking on the boards of Halliburton or Blackwater.
