Technically yes. But all through World War II and particularly in the run up to it, there were numerous “liberal” organizations that said we needed to stay out of it. And once we were in it, they said we needed to get out. “It’s in Europe. It’s in Asia. When they get to America we will worry about it!” Nevermind the fact there are several documented cases of German subs landing Germans on our shores for recon and intel. In an effort to keep those liberals molified, Roosevelt had to invent all these ways of helping without helping. Can you imagine how many lives would have been saved in the war if we had just gotten into the fray when we were asked to? We could have kept Hitler in check and not had to root Nazis out of nearly every country in Europe. Can you imagine how many less Jews would have died if Roosevelt had said “Damn with the liberal opinions, we need to be proactive” and dove right in? I believe it would have been a much smaller conflict. Hitler probably would have lost power quickly. The Japanese would have backed off. Pearl Harbor would have never happened.
We are in World War III right now. Bush sees it. You guys don’t. You would rather wait for Pearl Harbor (oh wait…we had that in 2001 didn’t we)….ok….hmmmm…so just what is it you are waiting for…and engraved invitation?
Your history is a little shady. I can’t imagine what liberal organizations you are taking about.
Maybe you mean that famous “liberal” organization which Charles Lindbergh belonged to, the “America First Committee.”
That must be it, since Herman Göring presented Lindberg with the Service Cross of the German Eagle for his services to aviation marking him as a liberal.
Yes. Lindbergh was so liberal that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt considered a Nazi and banned from joining the military.
And the congressional Dems want to give Bush a new blank check every 2 months and this is a big difference from Castle’s position in your view?
I’m with the 57% of Americans that want Congress to pass another bill with funding and timetables.
Getting Congress to lead on this is not easy but it is happening. Just compare where we are now on Iraq to where we were two years ago.
A wave of the magic wand and “presto” we are out of Iraq would be nice – but I am fresh out of magic wands.

GOPer say now we must wait until 2008 to see surge progress. I say no. August 2007.
If you guys ran things in 1941 we would all be speaking German by now.
If Bush ran things in 1941 we’d still be at war.
We did, and we don’t.
“We did, and we don’t.”
