Windpower played a part in Hastings Victory in the 41st

Filed in National by on May 8, 2007

Listen to Dana’s whole interview with Dave Burris.

Hastings support of wind played a part in his victory. Wind is very very popular in all of Sussex County but especially in that district. There are people with health problems there are fish kills and people point to the plant as being a problem.

Not only did Greg hasting say he supported Blue Power wind, but he loves to talk about solar energy and other alternative technologies for energy. He is a draftsman – been involved in house with geothermal and solar so he is every interested in the issue.

If the Republican party is not “greening” certainly Sussex County Republicans are. Dave goes on to say that while the Republicans have their nuts, loons and crackpots (like Ryan S at JTTR who deny global warming) there is nothing inconsistent about being a Republican and supporting the environment.

It was a very candid interview. Well done Dana and Dave.

Nobody in Sussex lives more than 6 feet above sea level.

I am a republican and I believe in Global Warming! We are most certainly experiencing a warming trend in the earth….thanks to the SUN however not the crap you guys believe is causing it.

By your theories then life does exist on Mars. Recent studies show that Mars is heating just as quickly as the Earth. Liberals tell us human pollution is causing global warming. Ergo..there must be humans on Mars doing the same thing…

  3. jason330 says:

    No links? Hmmm…

Listen Chris, I can see that this is going to be like discussing George Bush’s competence. You’ve taken a leap of faith that closes off reasonable dedate.

The fact is human activity has increased green house gases than have warmed the earth. The question reasonable people have moved on to ask is “What do we do about it?”

“The fact is human activity has increased green house gases than have warmed the earth. The question reasonable people have moved on to ask is “What do we do about it?”

Really? Remember the 70’s, or wern’t you born yet? The smog was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The earth should have warmed to blistering levels, according to current supposedly “accepted” theories. Instead, scientists where running around liking Chicken Little screaming how the earth was cooling. If we didn’t stop, a new ice age would come upon us. They even suggested (I love this), melting the icecaps to keep the water from getting too low.

Lets see…in the 70’s the sun was in a cooling pattern and the scientists scream about pollution causing global cooling. Now in the 90’s and 2000’s when the sun is in a warm pattern they say they very same pollution is causing global warming. Please make up your mind? Do greenhouse gases heat the environment or cool them?

And what of these knee-jerk methods for cutting pollution. I have been having compact florescent light bulbs shoved in my face as good for the environment. The problem is they are full of mercury. Most people are tossing them in the trash when the die. And God forbid we drop one in our house. You need a HazMat team to clean it up. Don’t you environmentalists care about the Mercury that will soon be polluting our drinking water? Or is that setting us up for the next “crisis” or fear that liberals will use to try control us. And you call Republicans the fear mongers. At least we fear things that could actually kill us in the next few years and not 500 years from now.

  5. anon says:

The fluorescent bulbs are a stopgap until the cost of LED production comes down.

that is great news. let’s hope he gets rewarded for his win with a seat on the house committees that deals with energy.

    Chris,

As much as your faith in the trinity of George Bush, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity make you believe in your heart that liberals are behind the increased awareness of climate change, they are not.

It is scientists (and lots of them) you have a problem with.

It is the scientists who making conclusions based on the weight of evidence as published in the peer-reviewed journals that are rocking your simplistic black and white world. Not me. Not Al Gore.

Take your denial up with a scientist, or maybe a psychiatrist.

And what of those scientists who(gasp) disagree with the “establishment”. They are branded hacks, fired from official jobs (hmm right here in Delaware too) and otherwise blacklisted, even if they come with sound scientific proof and have established reputations. There is proof on both sides. But politics in academia have entered the equation.

  9. jason330 says:

I think you mean oil industry lobbyists.

  10. Ryan S. says:

Am I not allowed to both be skeptical of anthropological global warming and a supporter of alternative energy?

I consider myself fairly green, but that doesn’t equate to swallowing every batch of BS Al Gore, Sheryl Crow, et. al. cook up.

  11. Chris says:

“I think you mean oil industry lobbyists.”

So who is paying this guys bill? ExxonMobil? Texaco?

  12. jason330 says:

If you guessed ExxonMobile, you would be correct.

Scientists who recently took Big Oil up on its offer to sell their integrity in exchange for cash include the head of space research at a St. Petersburg-based observatory, Habibullo Abdusamatov

Now, an Israeli physicist, Nir Shariv, has jumped on the bandwagon, singing a familiar tune that includes such favorite lyrics as “junk science.” He’s even come up with his own whopper—that even doubling the amount of carbon dioxide emissions by 2100 “will not dramatically increase the global temperature.”

Chris is only skeptical of people that disagree with him. Only liberals have junk scientists, granted, we have thousands of them, but that is immaterial.

What you have is a bunch of angry folks that aren’t happy that conservatism and capitalism are still alive in the world. Most every suggestion (like Kyoto) attacks the U.S. most of all despite other countries being much worse polluters. It is not a crusade against pollution, it is a cloaked crusade against the U.S. And you all are too willing to help….

  17. jason330 says:

    Yawn.

When you can bring something other than hackneyed ten year old GOP talking points to the table let me know.

  19. jason330 says:

If you want to get technical anon, I guess the post header should read: “Windpower played a part in Hastings Victory in the 41st says Burris”

Ahh… I get it. If it comes from a conservative it is “GOP talking points”. But if it comes from MoveOn.org it must be gospel.

Behold I bow on the altar of Soros (Hey! I think I just found the one successful business person liberals approve of! And I didn’t think I would learn anything here.)

  21. jason330 says:

    Ahh… I get it.

    No.

    You clearly don’t get it.
