Top 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars of 2007
More and more American car buyers are making fuel economy a consideration when choosing vehicles. With those folks in mind, Edmunds.com compiled a list of the 10 most fuel-efficient cars currently sold in the U.S.
Rankings were determined using the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) miles-per-gallon ratings for city and highway travel.
Toyota Prius — 60/51*
Affordably priced at $22K and up, the Prius is a bargain on many fronts. Real-world fuel economy doesn’t match EPA estimates, but this hybrid car is still the most fuel-efficient vehicle on the market.
What’s even more practical than the eminently practical Civic? The Civic Hybrid, which melds hybrid frugality with the poise and refinement of Honda’s perennial best seller.
I filled up my Prius, and reset my gas mileage meter, at the very start of my 38-mile commute this morning. It is mostly highway (Routes 1 and 113 from Lewes to Dover). My average over that 38 miles was about 53 MPG.
I was a bit lead-foot-y this morning, though.
Dang!
I make that about 5 cents a mile. Even if you think global warming is a Gore concocted, Soros funded hoax – that is a cheap commute!!
they shouldn’t have stopped at 10, no doubt the American Auto people are fuming. Number 11 must have been an American Car!
woooohoooo Buy american!
Is there some secret auto industry rule that fuel efficient cars must look like total crap? The only one I’d be caught dead driving would be the Mini Cooper. Looks like I’m driving the VW for another year.
