Listen to the Radio Spot!
The radio spot is now available for your listening pleasure on the right side of this post (at least until donviti posts something about what he is wearing to Drinking Liberally tomorrow). Have a listen here and you won’t have to listen to WDEL.

I’ve got to give it to you all. That shit is bananas. Sounds great! Now I’m glad I didn’t take Jason up on his demand for me to mock the idea.
I’m with Mike. That sounds truly professional! I’m impressed — you boneheads really did a terrific job!
Very cool.
I’m floored. Mike, Hube and Dave all like it- that is some cross section. Has hell frozen over and nobody told me?
I just checked the calendar, and it isn’t April 1st… weird.
I like the production values…does that count? Wish I could get my podcast sounding that good.
It’s great!! Now all we need is a liberal radio talk/call-in show. Why isn’t there one? Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage turn my stomach. I believe Al Frankin’s, Air-America, is defunct. Our local programing, John Watson, Al Macetti, and Rick and Jerry leaves a lot to be desired. John Watson (WILM) still thinks it was proper to pre-emptively invade Iraq. Most have their heads buried in the sand!
Jase: As Chris said the production is 1st class. Who did it? And how much did it cost?
awwww man, I was shaving my back for tomorrow! why you gotta rain on my parade like that?
Now you need a cool logo. Something donviti can shave into his back.
It’s great!! Now all we need is a liberal radio talk/call-in show. Why isn’t there one?
Because there is no sustainable market for such a program, Air America just proved that … again.
As an aside, and no so much the “content” … that’s a great spot, kudos.
Thanks M.
Everyone’s comments help shape it.
As for liberal radio, I think there is a market. Air America made some mistakes, but look at Keith Olberman. I think a flat out liberal talker in Delaware could build an audience.
It is kind of crazy that Jerry Fulcher and Al Macitti pass as liberals.
You’re most welcome, and on some/most issues those two guys are liberal.
If there was a market, don’t you think such a show, or station would be there to fill it ?
With radio, a market means far more than a bunch of libs who would “like” to hear it, it means advertisers who are willing to pay for air time for those libs to hear, well … whatever they weant to hear.
If there was a market, don’t you think such a show, or station would be there to fill it ?
You would have a point except for the fact that media companies like Delmarva Broadcasting, Gannett and Clear Channel are conservative and run by Republicans. There is liberal programming available (Democracy Now for instance) that they refuse to run.
It is easy for them to then say, “Well, there is no market for it.”
Oh jason:
If they are Republicans that run the media, don’t you think they would JUMP at the chance to make money off a bunch of silly liberals?
You would think that, but the whole Bush era GOP thing is to keep people’s heads filled with nonsense. The media is a part of that operation.
I find it interesting that people who watch Fox News know less about current events than people who say thay watch no news at all.
I find it interesting that people who watch Fox News know less about current events than people who say thay watch no news at all.
And the basis for this statement is …??
SHeesh. It is a well established fact.
http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=319
Sheesh, now point to me exactly where what you stated is proven at that link, ’cause I sure ain’t found it.
After all, consider the statement — people who get some news know less about the news than those who don’t get any at all?? How can you have knowledge about the news if you’re not even GETTING that knowledge??
This doesn’t logically follow.
You got me. I don’t know where I picked up that than people who say thay watch no news at all. part – but i know it is out there. Suffice to say that fox viewers are d.u.m.b. dumb.
The results about Fox News echo findings of previous surveys. In 2003, University of Maryland researchers studied the public’s belief in three false claims — that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
The researchers stated, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.” Fox News viewers were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions.”
You got me. I don’t know where I picked up that than people who say thay watch no news at all.
IOW, you made it up. That’s what I thought.
but i know it is out there.
Since the claim as you state it doesn’t make logical sense, I really doubt it.
that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Well, even the vast majority of YOUR party believed the first one. As for the others, consider, too, that 61% of Democrats believe Bush either knew in advance about 9/11, or aren’t sure if he knew in advance.
I’m sure you’re really keen on that little tidbit.
Think what you want. When I make shit up I cop to it – that’s what makes me a better journalist than Celia Cohen and Rong Williams.
wouldn’t say Fox News (including listeners of the far-right wing radio noise machine – i.e. – Limbaugh, Beck, and the other hate-mongers) viewers are dumb, but they do subscribe to self-imposed retardation. They are the 28% that still support Bu$hCo blindly, and want some sort of re-affirmation of the twisted views they absorbed over the years. (Ok, I agree, they’re dumb 🙂
These people constantly see and hear news (aka: reality) that directly contradicts the cleverly implanted beliefs they hold dear. So in response, they return home to the propagandists and fill-up on the bullshit, just so they can feel better about themselves.
It’s just like calling your AA sponsor after falling off the wagon.
No need to think what I want. You proved it w/your own link you were making it up. Case closed.
And, you one of that moonbat 25+% who believe Bush knew in advance of 9/11 which puts you right in line w/those Fox viewers you blast, so what’s the big deal, right?
Hey Hube! Lookey here:
http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=319
Use the Google!
I guess you’re wrong, hum…case closed?
BTW – we all know now that Bush and his administration had ample warning. I’m not saying he had prior knowledge exactly when and how it was to go down, but he did receive the assessment “Bin Laden Determined to Attack the U.S.”, along with other intel reports stating that an attack was going to happen:
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=August_6%2C_2001%2C_President's_Daily_Briefing_Memo
And what did Bush do? Absolutely nothing.
Keep carrying that water, buddy!
Sorry, here’s the last link:

“self-imposed retardation”
Well said.
“Think what you want. When I make shit up I cop to it – that’s what makes me a better journalist than Celia Cohen and Rong Williams.”
..and Dan Rather too?
That’s right. I’m a better journalists than all those punk-ass jive turkeys.
Typical of the liberal bent on things, you seized on one (supposed) fact and blew it sky high. The number shown for Fox News watchers was only slightly lower than bloggers. What does that say about you?
You also completely ignored the high numbers logged by O’Reilly Factor and Limbaugh listers. Sure Daily Show and Colbert edge them out but lets compare ratings on those shows and really see where the numbers lie. Daily Show and Colbert report draw most of their viewers from among liberals that are more involved in politics than the average liberals. O’Reilly and Limbaugh not only draw from more politically aware conservatives but also have a mass appeal among those less interested in the day to day politics.
In my daily life I am exposed to many people from both sides of the camp. I have, and yes, this is just in my experience, found that the conservative individuals are more politically aware than the liberal ones. You guys actually seem to be the exception among liberals. Which is why liberal talk radio has not panned out.
That survey did not seem to take into account the overall numbers and impact scores. Which is actually disappointing since Pew is usually fairly thorough.
Yeah, like the 31% that still believe Saddam had something to do with 9/11….
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/politics/20060919_poll_results_sub.pdf (page 28)
Liberals don’t need blowhard radio in the mold of rush and hannity because of the simple fact that we do not need affirmation. But it’s still a good idea to try. Why let the liars have all the fun?
So trying to make your point with AM radio ratings is bogus. It just means the GOP xenophobes will not break away from the pack, just like the good authoritarian subjects that they are…the 28% that would jump off a cliff at the command of Dear Leader or Comic Genius Rush.
BTW – the original statement was about Fox News. Their sheep are cranking it up at 35%, a 20 point difference.
“BTW – the original statement was about Fox News. Their sheep are cranking it up at 35%, a 20 point difference.”
20 point difference than Rush, O’Reilly, and Daily show, but right in the ballpark with the national TV news and nearly equal to the local news. So once again you are twisting facts. No great surprise.
“Liberals don’t need blowhard radio in the mold of rush and hannity because of the simple fact that we do not need affirmation.”
Are you kidding? Liberals are among the most insecure. As I well know around here. Dare to challenge their ideas and you better duck and cover. Despite totally controlling the main stream media, liberals still want to shut down talk radio with things like the “fairness doctrine” because they can’t stand that conservative talk radio makes it and liberal doesn’t. They would love to see the Drudge Report shut down even though, all he does is post links to stories of interest. Liberals are in CONSTANT need of affirmation.
Hate to break it to ya Chris, but I think you are projecting.
From the article:
“UC Berkeley Professor Emeritus Jack Block”
Anything that appears after that sentence cannot be considered remotely legit. Had the Heritage Foundation released a study with the same results YOU wouldn’t by it. So No Sale.
In fact, if you read down the article it clearly explains why the study is bogus.
Oh good. You did read the link. That is progress. I was somewhat tongue-in-cheek on the reference, but I do think that it is a bogus claim that liberals are insecure. That is a great talking point/stereotype, but completely without any basis, except innuendo. Rove could put your skills to good use…
Please! Liberals more insecure than conservatives?
First of all, Cons need things to stay the same or revert to 1950, change is bad! (I know, simplistic, but true). Destroying marriage with Gaydom. Dark people are taking our jobs!!! Fight them there so we don’t have to fight ’em here! It’s all action-reaction, the Id straight to the Super-ego, no in between. Quite reptilian and shows a blatant absence of intellectual and emotional growth.
They use scare tactics because the ones in power know that their flock is insecure. People follow authoritarian leaders for the reason of insecurity, anti-intellectualism, and bigotry. And the Right knows what they’re doing too, especially when it comes to the religious types (remember – sheep go to heaven; goats go to hell). They need a big, bad, poser of a Daddy to tell them that everything will be alright, if you just do what you’re told.
“Dark people are taking our jobs!!!”
(You may want to reference the DixieCRATS for that one).
Remember Lincoln…some guy that created the GOP…and what else did he do….hmmm….freed some group of people or the other..
“They use scare tactics because the ones in power know that their flock is insecure.”
A tactic never used by the left correct?
“Haliburton is stealing all your money”
“They aren’t protecting unborn babies they are CONTROLING YOUR BODY”
“They want to rob you blind and let you DIE rather than have (government-supported) healthcare”
“They want to send all your jobs overseas!”
“They want you to worship THEIR god”
“Big Brother is watching you!”
“They are really behind 9-11”
Do I need to continue. Liberals are the KINGS of scare tactics.
Chris,
It’s my understanding that most of those Dixiecrats eventually turned GOP. Perhaps it was their intention all along.
von cracker writes an awesome retort that is spot on an you comment on the darkies point.

DAMN RIGHT CRACKER!!!
you are wrong on this one Chris…again..
but we appreciate you coming back again and again and again…
