Four Years ago today

Today marks the fourth anniversary of a phrase that will go down in infamy. On July 2, 2003, George W. Bush was asked about the rising casualty rates in Iraq. His response?

…anybody who wants to harm American troops will be found and brought to justice. There are some who feel like that if they attack us that we may decide to leave prematurely. They don’t understand what they’re talking about, if that’s the case.
Let me finish. There are some who feel like — that the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is, bring them on.

And since that swaggering schoolboy taunt, 3,372 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq. Mission accomplished, Mr. President.

To all of you “smart” Republicans who knew Bush was an idiot, but voted for him because you thought the grown-ups around him would keep from making big mistakes – this is your day.

On Friday, July 6th at 11:00am the Iraq Summer Project will hold a rally at the pocket park on 2nd Street outside Representative Castle’s office. Please come and join in as we ask Castle to Take A Stand against Bush’s War.

This is the kick off event for a summer- long effort to convince Castle to actually represent his constituents and break from the Bushies on this needless, senseless war.

Americans Against Escalation in Iraq (see http://www.noiraqescalation.com) have sent three paid organizers to Delaware for the summer. They are planning many events designed to put the pressure on Castle this summer. They need our help!

Please turn out on Friday morning so we have a big crowd.

Isn’t it funny how these things always happen when most people (meaning anyone who might counter demonstrate) are at work?

  5. liberalgeek says:

Actually, most of us that would demonstrate are working too.

    will castle even be there?

  7. liberalgeek says:
