“Stop Hillary!” There I said it.

If Hillary Clinton wins the nomination I’ll vote for her over any of the circus freaks on the other side. BUT…I’m going to work hard for Senator Obama.

I’ve had an uneasy feeling about Clinton for a while now. A large part of that uneasiness is based on her craven immoral politcal calculus regarding Iraq. She knew Bush was full of it, but voted for the war anyway in order to (as her husband might put it) protect her future political viability. Even now she refuses to admit that she was wrong to trust George Bush.

But there is something else and I couldn’t put my finger on it until reading this over at MyDD.

If there’s a Democrat in the White House, tradition dictates that the President nominates–and effectively selects–the (DNC) chair.

The real fear is that a second Clinton presidency would mean a return to the Washington-centric ways of the first–to party control by “the very people who ground down the activist base in the 1990s and have continued to hold the party’s grassroots in utter contempt,” as Markos Moulitsas Zuniga of Daily Kos wrote in the Washington Post.

The harshest public critics of Dean’s strategy are also among Hillary Clinton’s most trusted advisers: Emanuel, Carville, Begala. As Thomas Edsall reported in The New Republic last year, many top Clintonites so loathe and mistrust Dean that their campaign is “laying the groundwork to circumvent the DNC.”

That is a big problem. Hilary Clinton (and the DLC toadies and suck ups like Tom Carper and James Carville) will turn the clock back on all of the progress that Howard Dean has made to reinvigorate the Democratic Party.

A Hilary Clinton Administration might be okay for the country, but it would be horrible for the Democrats.
