While the modern GOP has basically turned evangelical churches across the country into electoral precinct headquarters, the DE GOP is in a snit because Rev. Christopher Bullock will be preaching a sermon about the immorality of Mike Castle’s continued support of George Bush’s open ended occupation of Iraq.
Apparently, the suggestion is that sermons on this text are illegal if the intended leader addressed in the sermon is a Republican US Congressman, in this case Mike Castle. Although the point of the rally and sermon is to deliver the popularly-supported and minimal message that we should begin a phased withdraw of our troops from the killing fields that is Iraq, the Delaware Republicans are raising the specter that Reverend Bullock’s Canaan Baptist Church should possibly lose its tax exempt status for daring to call Mike Castle to task for his irresponsible and indefensible position that a timetable for withdraw from Iraq isn’t needed.
You see, you have to be pro-war or your message is political. cuz…you know Jesus was all about bombing the crap out of everyone. You can look that up.
