Even Paper-Trailed Electronic Voting Has Issues
In Ohio, electronic voting and the law has combined to take away anonymity in electronic voting. In Ohio, you can request the voting rolls in the order in chronological order. Also, the electronic voting machines record the votes on a paper tape, as a very wise check on the electronic voting machine. However, these two requests together can tell you who voted for whom.
There is also a timestamp issued on the paper trail, so a party boss with a good watch could record the time that a particular voter voted and later confirm that that person voted the “correct way.”
