I have been repaid for my statement earlier this week that China has benefited from increased exposure to Capitalism and western culture. It always happens. I praise my kids’ behavior just seconds before some blood-curdling scream shatters my rosy picture of their behavior.
So it goes with China. I just saw a story that China is now requiring a permit in order for a person to reincarnate. This is a ploy in the occupation of Tibet to control the future Dalai Lama (the one that the current Dalai Lama will reincarnate as). For his part, the Dalai Lama has said that he won’t be reincarnated in China, so there. Good thing Caesar didn’t think to require a permit for coming back from the dead, or Pharaoh making sea-parting an illegal act.
