Disbelief’s Rant

If you managed the local McDonalds, you would expect your fry cook to show up for work and exhibit a reasonable effort making French fries.

It appears that our elected and appointed State officials would not last one shift at McDonalds. The latest outrage is the paper shredding at the Delaware Psychiatric Center and at the Department of Health and Social Services (link to WNJ story). These tax-funded State organs are currently being investigated for what boils down to management not showing up for work. The investigation into rape, torture, and beatings at these State organs is being dealt with by government management by a perceived panic of paper shredding and furious salami-hiding. Other state organs, such as the Attorneys General and Audit, charged with oversight of criminally neglectful management paid for by our tax dollars, appear to have taken the month off work. There has been no word from anyone in a paid public position directly responsible for patient care and criminal negligence regarding these current investigations.

To our appointed and elected officials: if you aren’t going to show up to work, then resign. We know some of these State jobs can be tough. But if you can’t or won’t handle your responsibility, get out. There’s no embarrassment in admitting you are beyond your level of competence. And, it could be worse. Look at how China deals with public servants who refuse to accept the responsibilities of their jobs: either trial and execution within 48 hours or enforced suicide.

This is not an issue of Party loyalty or whether the GOP is worse than the Dems or vice versa. Its an issue of YOU. And by YOU, I mean, Daniel McCarthy, Susan Robinson, Renata Henry, Vince Meconi, Beau Biden, Tom Wagner, and last but not least, Ruth Ann Minner.

Guys, you’re embarrassing the State, the citizens, and yourselves. We’ll take care of some of this in the next elections, but YOU still have to look at yourselves in the mirror everyday, and its just going to get harder to do. I’m sorry I have to speak to the above named persons like a parent to a child who did something wrong knowing it was wrong, but its come to that point.

And to the McDonalds managers and staff: hold your heads high. You show more professionalism, responsibility and competence than public servants making 10 times what you make.
