Tracking Poll Thursday Results Tread: Lt. Governor

Filed in National by on September 14, 2007

The auto-shut off is not working on poll daddy – but I think these results give us a good baseline.

If the election was being held today, who would vote for to be the next Lt. Governor of Delaware?

Ted Blunt 38% (27 votes)
Colin Bonini 7% (5 votes)
Matt Denn 32% (23 votes)
Hube 6% (4 votes)
Other 17% (12 votes)
  • Schwartzkopf 2
  • Jack Markell 2
  • John Carney 1
  • donvitiā€™s ex-wife 2
  • Chip Flowers 1
  • Freddie Mercury-Mustache Delta Airline Pilot 1
  • Dave Burris 1
  • Other (unspecified) 2

SO – these are the races I’ll be tracking. We’ll be repeating Governor next week, then President etc.

In a world where all is right, Denn should be running against Castle next year in stead of wasting the valuable resource of himself on what is essentially a part-time row office.

Therefore, I’m voting for Denn, but under protest.

“… what is essentially a part-time row office.”

    Thanks to Carney

  3. jason330 says:

    What Dis said.

  4. G Rex says:

Dis makes a fair point. What is the relevance of having been a lieutenant to an absentee governor as Carney has been to Minner? Gee whiz, in this state it’s of even less significance than the state treasurer’s post.

  6. donviti says:

trust me you don’t want my ex wife…that is like cutting off your nose to spite your wife.

    but funny

  7. G Rex says:

What about Sherry Freeberry? I bet she’d get at least 500 votes.

  8. Disbelief says:

Can’t say I’m surprised about the Blount support. Denn will have a tough row to how based on Blounts activity in New Castle. And to tell the truth, I don’t think many people in Kent and Sussex really give a crap about Lt. Gov., so its going to be a bitch to overcome NC votes with K and C votes.

Not only would we better served by Denn running against Castle, I honestly think it would be an easier race for Denn.

  9. Delaware Dem says:

Officially, I am neutral in all of the primaries until I make my endorsements next year, but I like Denn alot.

  10. Disbelief says:

Do I get to make endorsements too?

  11. jason330 says:

Denn is great. A big primary turnout helps him.

I find it interesting that this primary IS the election.

Republicans are a non-factor outside of RD races.

  12. jason330 says:

    Denn is great.

  13. jason330 says:

I find it interesting that the Democratic primary IS the race.

Outside of a few RD races – the Republicans are a bit of an afterthought.

  14. Disbelief says:

I am honestly not saying this because he’s a D, but Denn is one of the most capable, competent, trustworthy politicians to come around in a hell of a long time.

Why the FUCK is he wasting his time on Lt. Gov.?

  15. Delaware Dem says:

    Dis–

    Sure, why not?

  16. Delaware Dem says:

    Dis–

He wants to be Governor in 8 years. He probably does not want to go to Washington.

  17. Disbelief says:

The concept of public service is thought to be, by some, a greater requirement for those of greater ability.

Despite our State-specific drawbacks, where the real harm is being done is in Washington. We can have Denn there in January, 2009. Waiting 10 more years on the off-chance that he will be Governor simply wastes a resource (Denn) that we have too few of. We should simply demand that he run for U.S. Rep. After all, public servants are supposed to listen to us, right?
