Advance review copies are getting out and by all accounts it is going to be a hell of a book.

Alan Greenspan claims Iraq war was really for oil

AMERICA’s elder statesman of finance, Alan Greenspan, has shaken the White House by declaring that the prime motive for the war in Iraq was oil.

In his long-awaited memoir, to be published tomorrow, Greenspan, a Republican whose 18-year tenure as head of the US Federal Reserve was widely admired, will also deliver a stinging critique of President George W Bush’s economic policies.

However, it is his view on the motive for the 2003 Iraq invasion that is likely to provoke the most controversy. “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,” he says.

I guess at the advanced age of 81, Greenspan is just saying, “Screw it, I’ll tell the truth.”

I wonder if he will narrate the book-on-tape version. Just an exciting thought. That should be the Frightland soundtrack.

OK, I will take this on topic. What you emphasized in the excerpt truly is worth a pause. We all can have our partisan battles (which you know I was never a Bush supporter to begin with), but this should be one of the harder to dismiss assertions out there. Although, I fully expect people from “my side” to start trashing Greenspan’s intellect in…enter Chris…5…4…3…

    Nice….

So logically speaking, I mean literally, where a=b=c, since this war was indeed for oil, and since Mike Castle supports this war fully, we have no choice but to conclude that Mike Castle supports continuing this War “Just for Oil”…….

    Case Closed……..

  3. Kavips, my hero!

News on the horizon is Gates protesting much on Greenspan’s oil, oil, oil song.

Greenspan is also legacy building by trying to duck culpability for the housing bubble bursting now. NOT.

Ha! Since they have blamed the gross negligence of their handling of the economy on the bursting of the “tech bubble” for so long, the must be in dire need of a new bubble to burst rather soon……

They don’t call him “bubble boy” for nothing.
