I don’t wear a flag pin on my lapel.

Am I not patriotic now?

Where is everyone? You holding down the fort while jason and geek are out drinking, don?

  2. donviti says:

    I guess I am

  3. Duffy says:

Yes but it has nothing to do with the pin.

    Hey Don,

It’s Columbus Day. Happy day of observance for that great Italian. Pizza all around. But why are you the only one working? Mebbe the rest of the gang took a long weekend? Or mebbe Jason still hasn’t recovered from having to be polite to Senator Carper last Monday?

To answer your question: According to my Girl Scout leader: The flag is the flag…there are rules for flying the Stars & Stipes (must be lighted at night, etc.). Any recreation of the flag (patch on your butt, lapel pin, ect.) is at best an inappropriate use of the U.S. flag…it might be down right illegal…I’d say consult the so-called ‘Patriot Act’ but that’d be scary…..

  7. Wearing the flag pin is appropriate but certainly personal actions speak much louder than symbols.

I guess it falls in line with some social conservatives and southern GOPers (I know, redundant) believing that if a Jew doesn’t wear the Star of David on an exposed piece of clothing (preferably on the left coat sleeve), then the person is not really a Jew.

    😉

Since the spin is about Barack Hussein Obama’s decision not to wear one (which seemed almost de rigeur amongst presidential candidates), that’s the context in which it ought to be viewed. Mr Obama tried to separate himself from the pack, to say, “See, I’m different,” but he picked a lousy way to do it. All it will do is encourage people like me, who are careful to use his middle name at every opportunity, to persuade people that maybe, somehow, some way, his sympathies aren’t really in the better interests of our country.

  10. Disbelief says:

Except for the fact that its the only country Obama has. This is not an endorsement; still think he’s too young and needs to ‘season’ a bit more.

  11. donviti says:

yes, Obama needs more experience dealing with sleeze balls that run this country. He will never be anything until he gets more experience dealing with these people.

A flag pin in your lapel makes you a patriot just as much as panties on your head make you a terrorist.

(Dolphins on your lapel make you a patriot, but also a hot bunking butt pirate.)
