Bush Preps for Stealth Bombing of Iran

Filed in National by on October 24, 2007

Buried in a recent White House request for $196 billion in emergency funding for the Iraq/Afghanistan wars is a request for $88 million to “modify B-2 stealth bombers so that can carry the new super bunker-buster bomb called the massive ordnance pentrator or MOP. (ABC News)

Despite the unusual nature of the request, the Pentagon is refusing to explain the need for a bomb capable of devastating a hardened target 200 feet underground, says ABC News. But, military experts have a theory.

“You’d use it on Natanz (IRan),” said John Pike of GlobalSecurity.org. “And you’d use it on a stealth bomber because you want it to be a surprise. And you put in an emergency funding request because you want to bomb quickly.” (ABC News)

  1. If we do bomb Iran it will have to be a massive (1000) target plus sortie list. Manned bombers is only part of the package.

Hitting the targets will be the easy part, dealing with explosive oil prices won’t be.
