Dave Burris Hilarious on WDEL

It was unreal. A full five minutes of pulling for John Carney to be the Dems nominee – then Loudell whacks him with this question:

So, who do you want the Democrats to nominate?

and Dave’s all….”Buh…buh…I ah…. I don’t have an opinion.”

For the record, I don’t blame him. I’d want to line up against Carney if I was him.

Also – I’d expect Dave to call me out if I pulled something like that.

  1. Dave says:

    I don’t think I’d ever say “I don’t have an opinion.”

I was just passing on my observation that the engine of the Democratic Party is the Carney support.

We really don’t have a preference. Carney provides the easiest contrast, but Markell has his weaknesses, too.

Judging by the fact that the 28th is about to run a dyed-in-the-wool Vaughn/Ennis Dixiecrat who could care less about movement liberals, it’ll be hard for you to argue that this faction of your party runs the show.

We have the mirror problem in the Legislature with Labor Republicans, so it’s not like we’re without internal strife.

  2. Dave is correct, both Carney and Markell have strengths and weaknesses but within the Democratic part of the primary Carney is very very strong. Markell has the chore of motivating issue based people to appear and support him in numbers beyond the “engine support” Dave refers to.

Contrast is great but you have to assume people are dissatisfied enough to invite a contrast. That is why we are filming some cable shows this Friday to highlight the potential for contrast.

I agreed with your observation that in the 14th special the labor/old school machine was impressive and probably meant bad news for Markell in some RD’s – but you are/were pulling for Carney on the radio and Alan called you on it.

    It was funny.

  4. Dave says:

He asked me to recite the opinion that I posted on the blog. So I did.

  5. disbelief says:

    Where’s the clip?

  6. disbelief says:

Now I remember Malec. Didn’t she publically endorse the Faux King Mayor of Smyrna in conjunction with Prince Lil’ Johnny Still?

  7. Podcast says:

Here is the Dave’s conv with Loudell

  8. smyrnadudette says:

Oh yes, Malec’s endorsement was on the drivel that the Faux King ex-mayor of Smyrna sent out. By the way, is Malec “Christian lite”? You know, she has 5 kids, is on the school board, and has a business with her hubby. Sounds like she won’t have any time to deal with being a “full time” representative like Bruce was.

  9. Dave says:

You mean Bruce “Full Time” Ennis, who missed all kinds of mandatory committee meetings while campaigning for higher office?

And obviously “Lumpy” will have all the time in the world, being a “retired” state employee at 50. Another retired state employee. Exactly what the legislature needs.

  10. Von Cracker says:

Dave, shouldn’t we have publicly financed elections then? He might have not missed any votes, let alone MEETINGS (oh my!), if that were the case….

  11. smyrnadudette says:

Oh please Dave, isn’t that a little old? Surely you mean the manufactured housing meetings. BTW, he did attend the Kent County meeting – duh, that is where his constituency is. Getting back to the one play playbook – keep it up, you saw what it did for your last candidate 🙂

  12. Dave says:

Maybe that’s not all he missed. Maybe he missed something (or two somethings) that we didn’t reveal because it would have been wrong to do so. You see, we have ethical standards.

“that is where his constituency is.”

Not the constituency he was running to represent.

I’m still waiting for you to respond to my challenge at FSP.

  13. Leroy says:

    Oh, please Dave, do tell…

  14. Dave says:

    Standards, Leroy. Can’t do it.

  15. smyrnadudette says:

He won’t reveal because there is nothing to reveal.

  16. Anon says:

Yup. Dave’s gonna hit Carson with the “Double Dip Ice Cram” hit piece.
Dave, Will Cathcart and Lofink put it on their own literature when they mail next election to convince voters to vote for them?
They both work for State funded employers also.

  17. Dave says:

    Oooh. You got me.

    Ask Bruce, SD. He knows.

  18. Dave says:

I’m not involved in the 28th race. I have another project that requires my attention at the present time.

And in the 28th, getting multiple government pensions seems to be a goal, not a negative.

Maybe if he gets elected, he can go for the trifecta and get a job in the Department of Labor with his colleagues.

  19. Anon says:

Yeah Dave. Like trying to raise more Greenville money for DCCC, which will not be required “By Law” to disclose it’s contributors until January of 2008.
That is “Ethically” wrong. Legal – yes. But most campaigns have full disclosure of who has given.
Pretty slick there. Maybe the “Open Government” Republican house members can pass a law to stop what you and Charlie did.
It would mean “Open Campaign Finance disclosure”

  20. Delaware Dem says:

    DuPont Copeland Cash Corp.?

  21. Intheno says:

You mean Bruce “Full Time” Ennis, who missed all kinds of mandatory committee meetings while campaigning for higher office?

Dave, what mandatory meetings were you referring to? Even the manufactured home meeting wasn’t mandatory.

  22. what? says:

Dave, were you pulling your crank, or just out of breath from the interview with Loudell. Dude, you were doing some heavy breathing, Hit the gym big boy.

  23. Anon says:

Please Dave !! Please get involved in the 28th !!
Pretty please with Charlie on top !!

  24. anon says:

what’s this about a mandatory meeting?
