Bush: “You want to call on somebody?”
Sarkozy: “You know, in France, I don’t choose, I don’t pick the journalists.”
Bush: “You don’t get to choose? Who chooses? I choose? (Laughter.) Who would you like me to choose? (Laughter.) Oh, he chose. Wait a minute, it didn’t last very long, did it?”
Sarkozy: “I didn’t choose, I indicated a general direction. (Laughter.)”
Later, when Reuters reporter Tabassum Zakaria paused before asking her question, Bush chided her: “Get moving, will you?”
Go figure, the French and Freedom of the Press.
