TommyWonk to Talk Wind Power with Progressives Dems
I have been asked to speak to the gathering of the Progressive Democrats of Delaware (PDD) tonight at 7:00. I will be talking about advocating for wind power with the General Assembly. The action group that met last month is working on a detailed plan to inform legislators on the policy basis for giving the offshore wind farm the green light. If you want to be part of the effort please let me know.
Also, the Progressive Dems will be giving Legislator Political Courage Awards to Senator Karen Peterson and Representative John Kowalko tonight. PDD meets the first Wednesday of each month at Delaware Democratic Headquarters, 19 E. Commons Blvd. near New Castle.

Sorry for the thread-jack, but Mike Castle will be on NPR (91 FM) at 10:00 this morning:

Will there be beer?
They rarely drink at Radio Times…
…how rare is it at PDD meetings??
Sorry Tyler, no beer at the meeting. But you might find some like-minded folks to go out for a drink afterward.
This sounds like a perfect storm a brewin’!
But the hard slog of point-to-point rebuttals remains. Much of the work is with the hard numbers and is so complicated it tends to go right over my head and, no doubt, over most of the legislature.
Thank goodness for the diligence of Tommywonk and Kavips on the internets and to John Kowalko who has faced down his breatheren on so many issues that are normally contained and controlled by the special interests.
It would be awesome if someone would video Tommywonk’s talk and put it up on YouTube for those of us who simply can’t be there except in spirit….
And the Mike Castle/Rush Holt interview on Radio Times was largely a Pox on Both Their Houses fest. Altho Castle did acknowledge that the partisanship did not start with the Dems, he never really talked about what he was doing to try to bridge the gap. This continues to be the problem of talking about the anointed centrists — they get to be the folks in the so-called middle who never have to be of the fray, just worried observers of it. Radio Times does have a podcast, if anyone wants to listen to it that way.
I’m looking forward to tonight’s meeting. I consider Tom a DE blogger superstar.
I think Cassandra’s idea of videotaping his talk (and the awards ceremony) a good idea. Too bad I don’t have a videocamera or I’d do it.
One would think that an organization calling itself Progressive Democrats of Delaware would be able to generate a great deal of wind power. 🙂
I think the organization is improperly named. There is a national Progressive Democrats organization, but the local one is not affiliated?
Interesting the national organization supports universal single payer health care, the local one does not apparently.
At some point the locals will have to answer why not…in the meantime they can all go to Pacem en Terris meeting on Jan.10, to see the movie , “Sicko” and then tell us….why they are not supporting single payer?
Wind power, Open ALL Government are all good issues, we have to figure out, why there are some in the so called “progressives” who do not.
I believe Steve Biener is part of that group and in the past, was a big supporter of single payer.I have always wished that Steve would consider running for Governor…now thats a candidate we could get behind…
