Comment Rescue: Stupid GOP Thinking

Filed in National by on January 16, 2008

I like Giovanni, but this must be the dumbest comment ever.

I’m the first to criticize the administration on a host of issues/policies, but I personally believe MOST leaders of that generation, would have reacted the same way.

Let’s be honest in our assessment of Bush, the fact is, we will NEVER know what would’ve/could’ve been with a conventional presidency.

Republicans must be determind to stay in the wilderness for a generation. They just can’t accept that fact that Bush is (and always has been) a screw up and they backed the wrong guy for President.

…and he was better than John Kerry, the windsurfer, comment to prove my point in 5…4…3..2…

  1. John Feroce says:

I am well over the Bush Presidency, but let’s not act as if 9/11 wouldn’t disrupt any executive.

On to the more important issue and what prompted my reminder is Romney’s experience is much broader than Bush’s.

Bush pushed his two terms as Governor of a large state as reason to vote for him, not his business skills.

Romney is well known for his business skills and then his gubernatorial stint. Big difference.

I agree, let’s not compare the two…I didn’t start it.

  2. David says:

. . . or was he better than Al Gore, tree-hugger?

Plain and simple, W has been a travesty to our country and the world. W is so far off the charts, he makes Ronald Reagan look reasonable.

  3. jason330 says:

Let’s compare. They (Bush & Romney) both think attacking Iraq and staying for a long long time is a good idea.

    Wilderness. Get used to it.

  4. Dorian Gray says:

Hold your breathe… I think I agree with John. W is and has always been a fuck-up. That much is certain. However, Gore could have botched the 9/11 response. It’s possible. It was a tough spot to be in.

Gore likely would not have been so ideologically retarded, though, and I think that’s the salient point.

As a successful businessman, would Romney be more likely to build consensus and make decisions based on reason rather than revelation – and get away for this “freedom is god’s gift to mankind” bullshit. Perhaps. Hopefully we’ll never find out.

  5. disbelief says:

A question of conscience: If Cheney offered you a 10% ownership for free in Halliburton, would you be for the war?

  6. David says:

For 10%, I’d say fuck you all and support the war. Who am I joking, I’d do it for 2.5%.

  7. jason330 says:

Gore could have botched the 9/11 response. It’s possible. It was a tough spot to be in.

Nobody could have screwed up as much as Bush. He had a gang of freaks who were hell bent on attacking Iraq and didn’t give a thought to what would happen after the attack.

I reasonably smart 5th grader could have done a better job than Bush.

    No excuses.

  8. jason330 says:

Hube could have done a better job.

  9. Rebecca says:

Gore just might have read the Daily Presidential Briefing and seen 9/11 coming. Or, if you really want to project some wishful thinking, they might not have attacked if Gore had been President. Nobody knows for sure. The one thing we do know for sure is that Bush completely screwed up. Bush’s advisors completely screwed up. The world is a much more dangerous place than it was before Bush.

  10. David says:

Gore, and I am just guessing here, would not have read the Bin Laden briefing instead of being on vacation.

Damnit, why are you guys are getting me all worked up again.

  11. liz allen says:

Gore left documents and told the transition team to watch out for Bin Laden…they trashed everything….doing it their way.

Remember when Bush came to office one of his first acts was to bring the Taliban to Crawford…”these are guys we can work with”, spent $28 million dollar trying to change their image. Thats was in John O’Neils book, the man who had tracked Bin Laden and was running around DC from the time Bush took the chair, until July. No one in the Bush regime would listen he quit and joined the World Trade as Head of Security. He died in the Towers…but we have his book, which was banned for some time in America….”Forbidden Truth”. The Europeans had the book out and they new long before any american even questioned 911
