Breaking: Dave Burris 50% Sure to Run

Filed in Uncategorized by on January 17, 2008

Dave Burris is exploring the possibility of running for Governor. Frankly, I’m shocked.

I am looking forward to the Protack-Burris debates. I’ll drive anywhere in the state to watch.

Oh and big kudos to anon for calling this several hours ago.

Well it didn’t take Celia long to chime in:

The Republicans do not know where they will turn. Charlie Copeland? The Senate minority leader from the du Pont family could not issue a statement fast enough to take himself out. Dave Burris? This is the same Dave Burris who bailed out of his term as Sussex County Republican chair because he said he did not have the time for politics. Mike Protack? Please.

Bill Lee? The retired judge who gave Minner a scare as the Republican candidate in 2004? Maybe — if there was a draft and if there was money to run on.

So Celia leads with a jab. Now keep in mind that Celia hates Burris for freezing her out of the Atkins smack down action and for not playing his part in the warped movie that plays on a continuous loop inside her elfin cranium.

Like father like son – big fat blowhard with no chance of winning. GOP in Delaware is DOA.

  2. Sean Templeton says:

And since Dana is such a GOP Shill, he might as well jump in for Lt. Gov – Burris-Garrett ticket –
    Fat Boy and Lurch!

  3. anon. says:

Thanks libergeek! If you remember i’m also the one that first reported Burris secret PAC during the 14th Senate District race. I’m on the inside and in the know. Contact me I can tell you a whole lot more.

  4. liberalgeek says:

I know you can. I too know who you are. Thanks anyway.

  5. Anon says:

Lets see now, Burris’ first executive order would be to make the Mcgriddle the official state breakfast sandwich.

  6. jason330 says:

Well I’m surprised. Good luck Dave and I’m looking forward to see how Celia contends with this.

  7. anon. says:

Spence just announced he’ll run over at the NJ

  8. jason330 says:

Well that gives Dave an out.

  9. NoDot says:

So much for Dave’s claim to consult regularly with the majority caucus.

  10. R Smitty says:

I’ll take the McGriddle as the state sandwich…then we can remember that action fondly in a state of the state several years later.

  11. R Smitty says:

You know what I really get out of this post? That Celia does read our blogs and that she is truly, truly jealous of us all. She must be the ‘anon’ in the third comment (snark).

  12. jason330 says:

    maybe not snark!

  13. FSP says:

I’ve actually never had a McGriddle. Believe it or not.

  14. FSP says:

And, by the way, I want to applaud Jason for the renewed interest in the word “BREAKING.” It warms the heart.

  15. liberalgeek says:

Some “Man of the People” 🙂

  16. liberalgeek says:

I put it in twice today, with you in mind. Glad you noticed.

  17. Bopeep says:

Burris to run for governor? What a joke.
His old man ran state wide a few times and couldn’t carry his home county. No one likes the Burris people. He was elected to head the sussex county republican organization and lasted a few months an quit. That speaks volumes of a kid that lost his way like his dad. If he gets in, he will shit all over himself. He is truly a republican in diapers. Did he not go belly up with an eatery in Rehomo? If that’s true, this guy has a set of brass ones. Investigate this chump?

  18. liberalgeek says:

I guess the real question is will comments like #17 above cease after Protack has been eliminated from the race?

  19. anon. says:

    Pro-tack, Pro-tack, Pro-tack. Le-vin, Le-vin, Le-vin, I mean Bur-ris, Bur-ris, Bur-ris, no Sp-ence, Sp-ence, Sp-ence.

  20. R Smitty says:

I have to admit…it is kinda funny reading Dave’s fan club mail. Three possibilities: Atkins, a Protack troll, or Celia. I’ll go with number 3.

  21. Stan Smith says:

Let’s see Dave Burris for Gov? Maybe he can fix the postal system that lost the campaign mail from his State Senate race he ran and lost 2 to 1? Maybe he can detail his long record of achievement in business? Maybe he can detail his extensive accomplishments in the military?

  22. R Smitty says:

See what I mean? They are all so cute.

  23. Jennifer says:

Can’t wait to go the Burris campaign kick-off… Ensure boilermakers for everyone!
    Talk about geezer.

  24. liberalgeek says:

Geezer? Does that mean something that I don’t know about. I’m not sure Dave is even 40 yet…

  25. R Smitty says:

I mean the female troll, not geek. Maybe cute, but that’s after about 50 Coronas.

  26. liberalgeek says:

C’mon, you’re a registered Republican. I know you don’t get turned on unless you are in a bathroom stall with another man.

    🙂

  27. jason330 says:

Why haven’t any of these (this) protack troll(s) set up thier (his) own blog?

  28. liberalgeek says:

//the following is hereby inadmissible in a court of law//

    BetterDealForDelaware

    //end lawsuit prevention measures//

  29. R Smitty says:

    borrowing from geek…
//the following is hereby inadmissible in a court of law//

they abhor blogs and blogging and the bloggers that blog on them, remember? Oh, and don’t forget that the big poppa blogs.

    //end lawsuit prevention measures//

  30. feralkid says:

Who is Celia Long? And does anyone care?

  31. Dana Garrett says:

Sean Templton, be sure to let me know when you can meet me to kiss my big hairy ass.

  32. Dana Garrett says:

If Protack is the nominee, I give two to one odds that he won’t get more than 35% in the general election against either Dem candidate.

  33. Sean Templeton says:

    a

  34. FSP says:

It’s always good to have fans.

My question is, now that Spence is in the race, will Protack drop out? And how long until the postcards forget Alan Levin ever existed and start to hit Spence?

  35. anon says:

If Protack is the nominee, I give two to one odds that he won’t get more than 35% in the general election against either Dem candidate.

That’s probably the same vote “generic Republican” would get.

  36. Well, no wonder Dave was silent most of the day, yesterday. The image of Protack on teh GOP ticket sent the party notables into heartstrain city.
Protack has, so far, had two very commendable campaign appearances vs the inimitable Markell, just last week! With that head start, the GOP needs a Spence not a Burris in the race to keep GOPerheads from switching party affiliation in droves to vote for Markell in his primary run.

  37. RickJ says:

If Protack is the nominee, I give two to one odds that he won’t get more than 35% in the general election against either Dem candidate.

I’ll go 30% – remember that despite the extensive network of dedicated voters that live in his router, he has never garnered more than 6000 votes in any election.

  38. donviti says:

If dave gets to play governor, will he shut off the phones when he doesnt’ like what he hears?

  39. anon says:

I think Dave is being taken to the woodshed today.

  40. donviti says:

why is it a woodshed? is that because he is a Republican? and Republicans are rednecks with wood sheds?

  41. anon says:

Burris announcing hours before Spence is a rookie mistake, resulting in an even bigger clusterf**k. I’m sure Dave doesn’t intend to challenge Spence. And I’m sure Spence would rather not have had Burris’s news to contend with. It makes the GOP look even more disorganized.

Look how Spence made his announcement – old-school.

Going out on a limb, I’d bet the FSP blog is causing some discomfort and it will be suggested that Dave give up the blog if he wants a future in the GOP establishment. Choices, choices.

Look for changes in the blog – a more heavily moderated format, certain inconvenient archive posts deleted, etc.

I’m sure Spence does not want to campaign while Dave is hosting open threads where morons like me can offer our opinions on Spence and the GOP.

  42. FSP says:

Spence is in Florida, and neither of us felt we needed to ask permission of anyone to explore the option.

I’ve had no negative response from anyone willing to identify themselves, and I’ve had about 100 calls of support. It’s very encouraging.

  43. donviti says:

100 votes, that should win the governorship….

so you are saying you turned your phone ON to hear good news?

  44. jason330 says:

Protack got 100 calls of support but they were all from the same phone number.

  45. anon #42, is that you, Atkins?

  46. donviti says:

    I don’t think so nance

    no slurring

  47. liberalgeek says:

Nance, there are 2 anon’s running around. One has a (.) after their name.

  48. Truthful Cassandra says:

Dave Burris is 50% certain to be certifiable.
This guy is a wingnut of the worst kind.
    Believes his own news releases.
100 calls of support and he talks about Protack having trolls…. look in the mirror…. the Burris Troll is at looking back at ‘cha.

  49. anon says:

Burris, you bailed on your party at the county level for certain reasons that you explained earlier. What is the difference now? Just curious.

  50. Bopeep says:

Burris thinks he’s a king maker for some reason.
He hangs around on other peoples blogs blasting people he doesn’t like or has some haterd for. So after he does this shit for a while, he wants to run for govenor. That’s a little far out don’t you think? Or is it just me? I believe he’s a little self centered brat letting his blog go to his head. Looks to me like the Delaware GOP has a lose cannon on it’s deck. They both need to straiten up and sail right. Post # 50 is right on the money.

  51. FSP says:

It’s always nice to hear from the fans…
