I can’t take part in the Burris Love Fest
Dana loves him. Kavips loves him. Even Disbelief has kind words.
They all agree that Dave could run a very honest “straight talk” race that would be a net good for the state regardless of the results. For that matter, even I agree with that sentiment. But would I vote for him? I doubt it.
While what Dana says is true…
Dave Burris is the person almost totally responsible for giving the Delaware Republican Party the beginnings of a populist and grassroots image,
…wind Power and open government don’t tell the whole Burris story. Dave and economic conservatives like Dave are just flat wrong on some of the policy things that are not small issues. He and I have been at this for a while, so I don’t harbor any illusions about his philosophies.
As much as Dave wants the opposite to be true, tax cuts don’t work in the long run. I think that it was corrupt shortsighted management, not corrupt unions that have robbed us of our manufacturing base. I’ve argued that we need a government that can protect the public from the avarice of corporations. Dave feels that we need to protect the avarice of corporations under the farcical notion that wealth will “trickle down” eventually.
To me, these are big irreconcilable differences.
While I know Dave wants the best for the state, I know his thoughts about how to get there are flawed.
You only need to look at the current economic train wreck that we are involved in thanks to Dave’s pals in the “Club for Growth” getting their hands on the levers of power to know he is wrong. Tax cuts are not a panacea, and if you hate the idea of “welfare” but are willing to turn a blind eye to the millions (if not billions) that this state pays in corporate welfare by calling it “economic development”, then you are not a populists in my book.
Do I like him? Yes.
Is he a good guy? Yes
Is he honest? Yes.
But if you honestly believe something that is wrong, you are still wrong. Your earnestness doesn’t mitigate your error – it exacerbates it.
I love you, too.
As an aside, I have railed against corporate welfare on many occasions and while I believe that tax cuts do benefit the economy, that benefit is squandered without equal cuts in spending. My record should be clear on that.
Thanks for the clarification.
Okay, I’ll vote for you now.
Honest, good guy, like him?
Everyone knows Democrats like a little recreational drug usage every now and then, but really.
When you come out of your drug induced stupor, you’ll realize that Dave Burris is none of those things.
Okay. I’m convinced.
I’m not going to vote for him now.
He deeks left, he deeks right …
Anybody noticed how Protack’s trolls found the Ron Paul Freep machine and suddenly he doubled his vote total in the poll?
Watch. I can do it too. I’m now at 33….
And my most humble thanks to the 10 people who voted for me in the last 4 minutes!
Dave Burris is unstable and irrational and has never been responsible for anyone or anything. Without a doubt the biggest empty suit in the GOP.
Lest ye forget his arse whooping in the 14th Senate race and his undeniable and embarrassing exit from the Sussex County Chair.
Sorry, I would vote for Ruth Ann Minner again before Dave Burris.
Matter of fact, ABB – Anybody But Burris.
So, trying to figure this out.
Protack supporters are non-existant trolls according to Dave.
Dave says he has identifed the “trolls” but refuses to name names, which for Dave is out of character, since he calls people names all the time.
Now we see that Dave is openly admitting that he is willing to stoop so low as to manipulate this poll: to wit “watch I can do it to I’m now at 33…”
Dave, quit embarassing yourself, get a life or at least quit this one – you’re clearly a loser.
No one wants you for anything and with your current financial situation getting more dire, I’d quit while you’re only marginally behind in credibility and trustworthiness.
And get that prescription filled at Happy Harry’s… you know the one you got from the guys in the white suits.
Nice. So I’m on medication and I’m financially troubled? Can we expect to see that in the next pink postcard?
First of all, you couldn’t possibly know either of those things if they were true. Very Atkinsesque of you.
Quick question, dumbass: how many people in the last 24 hours have PUBLICLY, in their own name, said they’d back me or encouraged me to run and how many in the 14 months Mike has been running have done the same? Where’s the story about the Protack love-fest?
Maybe I’ll get in and Terry can get in so Mike can revisit the feeling of finishing third in a Republican primary like he did against Valihura.
Waiting with bated breath for that finance report, fellas…
Dave, do you actually think you can win against Carney or Markell? I’ll wait for your response.
I can’t exactly predict how the whole Protack thing will finally play out….but I’m pretty sure it will end up being a movie on Lifetime cable channel with Vincent Spano in a half-assed gotta-pay-the-bills performance. Though I imagine Hilary Swank will try to get the role and further hone her androgynous repertoire.
I wouldn’t run if I didn’t think I could win. Clearly, the conventional wisdom would say that you can’t overcome Markell’s money. But we’re not going to get change until we change the personnel. And neither of those guys fit the bill.
Do I have enough time to erase the name ID deficit and get people to listen? I think if I can get people’s attention, I can convince them. I’m unconventional, and it would be an unconventional race.
You won’t run because you can’t win and you know it. Your ego loves the stroking but it won’t like the inevitable beating you will get.
No one likes an egomaniac candidate who tries to write their own narrative.
“I can convince them”
“I’m unconventional”
No one likes a candidate who sounds more like a pundit or a self promoting shill than a thoughtful leader.
This Burris thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen. No experience no track record no personal accomplishment just blowing smoke and arranging mirrors.
Humility will find Burris but probably the hard way — if he ever grows up.
What’s the big deal about “manipulating this poll”?
There’s a quiz on a liberal website that routinely skewers Republicans (and only occasionally when they deserve it) that lists some of the potential Republican candidates for Governor – and lists one of them twice. (unless Terry Spence has let the razor slip while in Palm Beach without telling us).
Nurse Ratchett, are you seriously concerned about the ramifications of the poll? Afraid it might affect the outcome in 9 months?
My record is working with others to save HB4 and defeat HB177; working with people all over the country in creating the transparency package, finding sponsors and introducing it; taking out Atkins and electing Hastings when he was not favored to win; succeeding and winning awards as well as struggling in small business; and my experience as someone who lives and works in Delaware and feels the same economic pressures as the average family, something the rest of the six-figure-a-year candidates can’t match.
Not only am I feeling those pressures, I’m taking my own time on my own dime to try and DO SOMETHING about it in Dover.
What are you doing about it? I think I can answer that since you won’t even attack me with your real name.
It’s always good to have fans.
Dave, don’t forget to add to that list that you ran and lost (big time) in the 14 SD race. And save your breath, we’ve all heard your excuse for the loss before!
Didn’t have time to fulfill your duty as S.C. chair.
And, I’m hearing from my sources that your uncle just held a fundraiser for Markell? That should go over swell at the next Burris family reunion.
Save yourself the embarrassment a bow out gracefully.
and bow out that is. I fully expect you to use Spence as your exit when it comes time. Thanks
Can’t wait until Burris wades into the bay with his speedo on to see if he can spot his sneakers.
PRICELESS.
FSP is a legend in no one’s mind except his own. You and “make it up Mitt” are birds of a feather, both fake and both in love with yourself.
Anyway, borrow the money for gas and drive the 40 miles or so up to Department of Elections and take out your crayon and fill out the forms to run. Your hundred phone calls of support is as profound as the online petition Levin had and probably has the same out of touch people. I saw Al Capone on the petition.
Please run so we can have some comedy material. With the TV writers strike we need a regular laugh.
Nurse Ratchett, are you seriously concerned about the ramifications of the poll? Afraid it might affect the outcome in 9 months?

RickJ, I’d say you have hit the point being made about Burris, the younger.
Is Dave so concerned with the ramifications of the poll that he openly cheats to beat it (see: admission above). He openly cheated on the early best blog, blogger etc. poll (see: http://delawareway.blogspot.com/2008/01/horse-race.html).
The question is, why does Dave think he is gubernatorial material? He has none of the experience that he has been touting Levin for having and his skin is so thin that he becomes maniacal at the least hint of someone’s gaining on him in some vague way even in some stupid polls.
The same sense of righteousness that sent Dave to his courageous public stance against Atkins sends me to stand against his run for the governor’s seat.
At any rate, Dave’s work towards transparency for our state government stands for itself. I am sure that he will continue, in his own way, to influence the powers for the betterment of all and in that, he has my appreciation and support.
Shite, I have been spammed again.

This is interesting. I just wrote a post about Burris and it was sent to spam, three times.
HUH! But the next comment made it through.

I’ll try it one more time:
RickJ,
Is Dave so concerned with the ramifications of the poll that he openly cheats to beat it. He behaved that way with the best of blogger etc. poll (see: http://delawareway.blogspot.com/2008/01/horse-race.html).

RE: ABB – Anybody But Burris
You can’t use ABB as we have a patent pending on ABB-Anybody but Baker. Sorry.
“Is Dave so concerned with the ramifications of the poll that he openly cheats to beat it.”
I’m just pointing out another tool the Protack trolls use to, as Al says, “create the impression of support that just isn’t there.”
I have no real interest in who wins a manipulated internet poll.
Also, it’s worth noting that my anonymous critics only post here and at DWA, because they know if they came to FSP I could see that this is all coming from the same two IP addresses.
Who or what is FSP?
Yea Dave, all but two people are in love with you, and can’t wait to elect you as the chosen one.
Count me as number three that will not be casting my vote for an egotistical maniac like yourself.
You fat head dope!!!
‘Morning, John.
‘Morning, Dave, but wrong again.
Dope!
If Dave Burris is such a defender of property rights why can’t he make any money selling property?
Success is a quality that is sought after in political leaders.
Dave fails in that category big time.
Dave, you are emitting enough hot air to replace the off shore wind farm your GOP hack friends in the Legislature helped stall.
A recommendation; stop yapping about unscientific blog polls or the very unremarkable accomplishments you quote or meaningless awards you won for brushing your teeth in 3rd grade.
Shut up, file for the office and suit up if you can find the courage and please do not wait nine months to “mull it over” like Levin did.
You are what Gov. Ahnold refers to as “girly-men.”
