McCain’s War

Filed in National by on January 28, 2008

I was just on the radio and Al Mascitti was telling me that the war is not a big campaign issue.

Well, not for these five grunts anayway.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Five U.S. soldiers were killed when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb and then came under small arms fire in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday, the U.S. military said.

Show of hands…other than John McCain and Mike Castle, who wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years?

….anyone….?

…anyone?

    is that a trick question?

  3. liz allen says:

you were counting on local corporate media to tell you the truth! Iraq is a horror wasteland. Iraqis are more desperate now than ever! There is no cooking/heating oil, no electric, sewers running in streets, no trash pickups. medicine, food are driving them to total despair. Just cuz corporate media like Msnbc, Nbc owned by parent company GE, one of the biggest warmongering corporations are keeping the story off air…and so is CNN, ABC! Corporate media are just as compliant with this illegal invasion and worse the occupation keeping the horrors out of citizens minds, off the tube…doesnt mean the “surge” has worked. In fact, there are stories that Iraqis are selling their children and prostitution (which was so under ground it was nonexistent) is now on the rise. Do your own factchecking..do not count on corporate media local or national to tell you the truth!

  4. Dorian Gray says:

The government told my that N. Iraq (Mosul, Kirkuk) was safe. I believe them.

  5. Al Mascitti says:

Right, Liz, they should instead turn for guidance to a shrill hysteric who thinks anything that comes in by satellite must be true. Your “corporate media” rant is truly a riot, since it’s triggered mainly by the fact that you’re not welcome on my show anymore.

The statement was about what is the biggest issue in the election. The economy has bumped the war as the No. 1 issue. I was saying that it’s a long time until November, and I don’t think it’s dead as an issue, especially when the Republican front-runner is talking about 100 years in Iraq.

So, Liz, try disproving my assertion of fact: the economy is now the No. 1 issue in the election. Good luck, you’ll need it. You’ve never shown the slightest ability to do anything but make a lot of noise. Let’s see if you actually know how to do any research.

  6. Brian says:

It is a campaign promise, let’s make sure to vote for him:

Sen. John McCain told a crowd of supporters on Sunday, “It’s a tough war we’re in. It’s not going to be over right away. There’s going to be other wars.” Offering more of his increasingly bleak “straight talk,” he repeated the claim: “I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars.”

McCain did not elaborate who the United States would be fighting. But he did warn the crowd to be ready for the ramifications of current and future battles.

“And right now – we’re gonna have a lot of PTSD [post traumatic stress disorder] to treat, my friends,” he said. “We’re gonna have a lot of combat wounds that have to do with these terrible explosive IEDs that inflict such severe wounds. And my friends, it’s gonna be tough, we’re gonna have a lot to do.”

  7. Al Mascitti says:

Oh, I forgot to add, Delmarva Broadcasting sure is a corporate media giant! We have 11 stations up and down the Delmarva Peninsula. That should give a cue as to the strict adherence to truth, as opposed to rhetorical bluster, Liz likes to indulge herself in.

  8. Von Cracker says:

I believe Al’s right in saying the war won;t be the #1 issue (it still will be #1 for some but not most) The Iraq war doesn’t compare to feeding your family, even though the former probably exacerbated the latter…..

  9. jason330 says:

    Al –

For what it’s worth I think the new one call per week is fair (of course that was what I was averaging anyway).

Do I gather from your comment that some folks are reduced to zero calls per week?

  10. jason330 says:

Oh yeah. The economy is playing bigger now – but Al rightly pointed out that when the choice is some Republican who wants tp keep troops in Iraq forever – it will come back onto the media radar screen.

  11. Al Mascitti says:

Yes, for some it’s zero. Basically I got sick and tired of being cursed out (via e-mail) every time I said something that didn’t pass muster with the self-appointed Czarina. She’s been under the impression for many years now that she actually runs the radio station, and I wanted to disabuse her of that notion.

  12. Al Mascitti says:

Here’s a sample of the reporting that led me to my statement:

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/26/exit-polls-its-the-economy/

For those lacking time to hit the link, S.C. exit polls showed the economy No. 1 with more than 50 percent of Democratic primary voters, the Iraq war No. 1 with fewer than 20 percent. Giant drops in the DJIA will do that to an electorate.

  13. kavips says:

But seriously Al, if we are going to talk on air about whether the surge was a success or not (something Liz brought up), how about instead of citing US media sources, we talk to Iraqis and find out their opinions?

After all, if the surge is a success, shouldn’t THEY be the ones to know?

  14. Tyler Nixon says:

Al – I appreciate your show and the honor of subbing for you when the occasion calls. But I think censoring Liz from your broadcasts, because she sent you some emails you didn’t like, is not the way to go.

Unless there is more to it I am missing here, I have listened to Liz’s calls to your show and, yes, she gets fired up but has never stepped out of line on the air with you (that I have heard). If you don’t want to deal with her, just say so. But honestly you kind of make her argument that you want to manipulate information flow by totally banning her.

I believe you are better than this and can certainly handle Liz calling your show. You assuredly don’t have to read any of her emails and I am sure she would agree just not to send you any. But censoring her from a broadcast show because of some of your private exchanges with her seems heavy-handed.

Now if it is the station’s policy to censor her now, I guess I understand it is out of your hands. Just my thoughts, for what they are worth to you.

  15. Pandora says:

I’m new to this site, and can honestly say the discussions going on here are truly enlightening. So, I thought I’d add my two cents:

I think part of the reason the Iraq War is no longer front and center – despite the economy – is that any true debate is over. Poll after poll show that America’s support for this war has become a distant memory. Basically, we’re all in agreement.
Iraq was a mistake and we need to get out. Even my Republican friends — yes, I do admit to having some — are no longer defending this war. Other than the die-hards who defend Bush no matter what, and will never admit any GOP member has ever screwed up, the country is in agreement.

Which makes me wonder why Republican Presidential canidates are running on a four year old platform? My fear is that they are TRUE BELIEVERS. And after having lived through almost eight years of the King of True Believers, give me a poll watcher anyday!

  16. jason330 says:

    Basically, we’re all in agreement.

That is my take as well. And you are right about the Republicans (except for Ron Paul) all running on a four year old platform. It is odd.

    Thanks for commenting and Welcome!

  17. Al Mascitti says:

No, it’s not the station policy. Sure, I can deal with her calls. But just because I can doesn’t mean I have to. She’s not calling in these days because she’s “boycotting” my show. Boo hoo. I want to make sure she does so permanently.

It’s not “censoring” her, by the way. I simply choose not to answer her calls, because I don’t like the way she does business — insulting people, talking trash, spouting out predictions about this, than and the other. And she seldom calls to talk about the topic at hand.

If you think my decision is heavy handed, well, too bad. I’m not running a town hall for the Liz Allens of the state, and I’m not running a halfway house for every crackpot with a cause.

Hey, Kavips, we weren’t talking on the air about whether the surge was a success, and I was unaware this thread was about whether the surge was a success. As you note, LIZ was talking about that because, once again, Liz Allen can’t stick to the topic because she doesn’t give a damn what you or I or anyone who doesn’t agree with her thinks. Whatever she thinks is automatically the topic at hand.

And I frankly don’t have to listen to Liz Allen to find her sources of news; they’re freely available to all via the intertubes. If she’s ever done any research beyond listening to, watching and reading non-mainstream media, I’m unaware of it. After tens of thousands of words back and forth over the past 2 1/2 years, it’s pretty clear that Liz Allen’s view of the media is that it exists as a tool of propaganda, and she wants to utilize it that way, too. She’s entitled to her opinion, and as far as I’m concerned that’s what John Watson is for.

To tell you the truth, I don’t think the show gains anything from someone railing against the media and neo-cons and any other thing that strikes her fancy a couple of times a week, and it doesn’t lose anything by deep-sixing that, either.

If nobody listens, again, oh well. But I’ll tell you this — they weren’t listening when Liz was calling twice a week, either.

  18. Von Cracker says:

No offense Al, but much of the traditional media, be it TV, Print, Radio (but mostly TV) is total shit as it pertains to the American discourse. You have to search long and hard to find any of the above diving into issues in a meaningful “let’s try to solve this” way. But to do that, the overriding tenet to ‘entertain’ must be done away with. I can’t see that happening since ad dollars drive its existence and if people aren’t watching, well you know….

Once 60 minutes proved to the execs that money can be made in news…it went all downhill.

  19. Al Mascitti says:

True enough, Von, but so what? There’s now a web site for every taste. There’s a reason TV doesn’t delve into issues in a meaningful way — people won’t watch it.

Well, that and the No Phone Calls Principle — management doesn’t like dealing with phone calls from unhappy viewers, or readers, or listeners, and so they self-select the bland and inoffensive over the contentious and controversial. That’s why I always crack up when someone claims media is being controversial “for the ratings.” It’s a rare media executive who’s willing to tell any member of the public to go soak his or her head.

Believe me, if politicians quivered one-tenth as much as media executives do when a complaint came in, a lot of our problems would have been solved by now.

  20. Von Cracker says:

Too many crank phone calls from the Howard Stern show!

Damn you, Howard and Captain Jenks!!! 😉

  21. Pandora says:

Al, I get it. You have probelm with Liz. You’ve banned her from your radio show. Fine, it’s your show.

The question I have is why you continue to respond to her on this blog? Maybe you should start taking her calls again, because the thread of this blog has been lost.

  22. liz allen says:

Lets get some truth out here! One of the very last times I called his show, was to report on the faulty voting machines in New Hampshire, he went off on me (because he didnt have the information, and later claimed “he” didn’t care about it. Cindy called in to report on the same story, and he treated her nastily and then put her off air, saying “oh yeah Cindy and the black hawk helicopters and UFO’s are gonna get you”.

The emailing (I have have every one which I am considering publishing after we finish with the FCC) will prove that I was providing him with information coming out of New Hampshire from a progressive radio talk show, “Arniemedia”. He wants the public to believe that I was engaged in name calling, my emails will prove that his “taunts and threats” were over the top for a talk show host, who I am sure management would frown on, if they knew that there were about 20 of them that went back and forth until about 12:30 at night.

I know his boss didn’t no about the emailing campaign, but I consider the source. He not only threatened to “destroy” me on air, if I called in, he claimed he would make me the “laughingstock” of Delaware.

As far as my sources…some on main stream, others are international! Problem for Al is he doesn’t do much research, he reads the blogs, reads the news journal but doesn’t believe that unless “he hears it or reads about it on corporate media”, its a conspiracy theory.

I noticed that many are not calling in anymore. You see Al Baby, I have a lot more support than you think…and we ain’t done with issue yet. So go ahead and “flame” all you want. The bottom line is you, and your right wing side kick Rick Jenson don’t want anyone challenging you, or your facts. So censor away! There are what we call “work arounds”, and that is what I will do…work around you and corporate WDEL who is undemocratic, putting people off who sometimes disagree with you, while you give right wing Lee 20 minutes to give his opinons never based in fact….great radio!

For even fuller disclosure, one of his threats was: if you call my show again, I will put up a promo that says, “WDEL, Liz Allen free”. Well John Watson on WILM said, Let him, I will put up one that says, WILM Welcome home Liz” thats a work around Al.

And another thing Al, you will be quite surprised at the number of people who believe WDEL was wrong to do what you did., and you will be hearing from them. I could care less about calling your show…there are others who will treat me with a modicum of respect. And Rick will be able to continue to flame against the Palestinans with no one with the courage to stand up for them…

I think Al and Rick have a problem with women who don’t cower to their pathetic attempts at censorship!

  23. Al Mascitti says:

No, I have a problem with a woman who can’t even quote an email correctly, but insists that everyone except her is lying.

Liz, you would be quite surprised at the number of people who consider you a problem of the first stripe for getting anything progressive done in Delaware. Ask around Legislative Hall and see what your approach has done for the health care issue you care about. Your insults and hollow threats have turned off even those who agree with you and Dr. McDowell. Oh, that’s right, you don’t talk to anyone who doesn’t agree with you. Everyone avoids you like a skunk, because that’s what you are — you just spray and spray and spray, and act like you’re gracing us with perfume. I could never make you a laughingstock, Liz — you already are one.

You’re a big-mouthed bully, Liz, and I want to make sure everyone in Delaware knows it. The threats in your latest post are just a mild taste of what I read every single day that I said something you didn’t agree with. After 2 1/2 years I said enough. Most people don’t wait anywhere near that long.

Work around? That’s a good one. When you had a clear shot at getting something done you couldn’t do it. You’re all talk, and talk, and talk, and no action. Good luck with that health care proposal. It might even pass without you there to insult everyone who doesn’t agree with you.

  24. liz allen says:

Al’s exaggerations are a hoot! I recall when he went after Nancy Willing on one of the blogs. and then Mike Protack on air and the blogs, all speculation! He had no fact when he made those outrageous comments!

Yeah, and they don’t listen when Crack Pot Lee calls in either, but you give him all the time he needs.

You are giving the impression that over the last 2-1/2 years you have been receiving emails from me….well at least that part is true. I was sending you articles, and information on ISSUES, it didnt go into personal attacks until about one month ago. And even that, was over issues…I am an issue person, thats what I do research about. I recall Gerry Fulcher saying on air many times…and Liz is right again. But you hated when he said that…and yes its because I got my information off the satelite not off corporate media!

The economy is the number #1 issue now, and Cindy and I were talking about that over 2 years ago…we were conspiracy theorists then. But health care is the #2 issue, and issue which I was and am very involved with. But WDEL didn’t want that issue on the air, you Al stated again and again, that you would have Dr McDowell on the air, to explain to the citizens that “single payer health care” was not socialized medicine as the right wing Rick Jenson put out every chance he could. You never addressed the topic really, because you didnt want to take the time to study it.

So you can make all the personal attacks you want, I still remain issue oriented! Sorry you had to take this whole mess a step further by insults. As I recall you were called to attention for your insulting a legislator, and the community was up in arms. Insults are your game so don’t try to label me with being the insulter…sure I insult…sometimes in humor, but yours were really personal. You should think about insulting a 65 year retired woman, who is only trying to do the best I can to make life easier for my fellow citizens. I think health care, ending this horrific war are at the top of that list.

  25. Al Mascitti says:

You recall incorrectly, of course. But I love the poor martyr route you’ve gone here all of a sudden.

Liz, be self-reflective for just a moment. Do you really think that all your spouting off — “fascist,” “Zionist,” “neo-con” — none of that counts as name-calling in your view? None of that is meant to be insulting? None of it has turned off people who actually agree with you?

“Cindy and I were talking about that issue [the economy] two years ago.” Sure, Liz is right again — you mean like the time you mistook a spoof of George Bush for his actual writing? If you barf up enough predictions — something you do with amazing frequency — you’ll be right now and then.

But the point is that once again, Liz, it’s all about you. In this post alone you have mischaracterized literally every interaction between us that you have referenced. And those “insults of a 65-year-old retired woman” were nothing but someone — me — talking to you the way I have heard and read you talk to and about people since September 2005, when I started at WDEL. Don’t even feign to deny it — you sent me copies of all the nasty emails you sent Gerry Fulcher when he dared to go against you, all the nasty emails you sent Jensen because he’s a conservative. You simply don’t know how to treat people. I have no doubt you mean to make life better for people. But you ought to check around on the effect you have instead of keeping such close tabs on me.

  26. liz allen says:

No, Al, its not about me…but it looks like you would like it to be all about you… Yes Cindy and I were both talking about the economy, the fall of the dollar over two years. ago..and in fact Sen. Kerry was talking about in 2004 campaign that was nothing new.

Gerry Fulcher didnt go against ME. He betrayed a whole group who were working non partisanly to create a bill for Inspector General, he turned all our research over to Peterson and Oberle so they could put out a lameass bill before we could get ours done, you bet I was pissed and so was everyone else who were working on it….many of us! Jenson is not only a conversative he is so far to the right it impossible to characterize where he is. Emails about them….but there were no emails against you Al, until about one month ago over the NH faulty machine deal.

It appears that you who are censoring me from calling your show, have no problem coming on these blogs to continue to berate me personally.

Are you not the one when I wrote you a personal note about my son having a stroke and no insurance and how the hospital put him out…told me to go “and get a job”. Like I don’t have one!

Talking the way I do, started with Jensen in 2000 before you ever came to WDEL. With his war mongering every day, pushing the wmd crap and the horrific lies he was spreading every day…and that is when WDEL was right wing 24/7! No let up from Jensen in the Am, Rush and Hannity in the afternoon. You may not know it Al, since you were the newcomer but there were many, many people upset and distressed to the point that a “Fairness in Media” meeting was held. Rick Jenson was a flamer, a demonizer and called everyone who called in and didnt go along with the bush regime and its continuous lies…a socialist, a commie, a terrorist…you damn right I fired back, and kept firing back, when many threw up their hands and stopped calling. He baited me, he turned the microphone off so I couldnt speak back, he demonized me…but I didnt give up.

So feigning…I don’t have to feign anything. I am about issues…you are the one who wanted to parse words, and make it “entertaining” for your right wing callers. It was you who said, “there are people who call the station every day, to get you off the air”, all those right wingers….well you know what, Al….thats about all you have calling in now…those who are dumbed down polictically, those so right wing in their opinions based not in fact…so have fun with them.

I don’t keep tabs on you! That is simply ridiculous.

About treating people! I treat people I care about with great honor and respect. I treat people the way they treat me. Jenson treated me and many others horribly because we wouldnt buy into his right wing crap. He deserves all he gets and more.

You on the other hand have turned this into a controversy, because you couldnt stick to the issue and made it personal.

  27. John McCain says:

Mission accomplished – America destroyed. Get used to it folks. How is that for straight talk?

  28. jason330 says:

    huh?

Mission accomplished minus America destroyed eqauls what?

  29. John McCain says:

Look here, kid, I am god dam Senator of the United States of America and Presidental Candidate. I am fucking Vietnam Vet. You know how crazy some of us are? Yeah? Well I am one of them.

If you keep questioning me, I will screw you like a South East Asian lap dancer. Like all the POW’s who my committee refused to save.

Yeah, kid, that is straight talk.

My hundred year war plan will be good for America. Just keep telling yourself that.

I am paraphrashing what our President already said, “our enemies never stop thinking about ways to harm America and neither do we.”

Now stop quoting me out of context or I will leave your ass in a rotten tropical cell.

  30. Al Mascitti says:

–Are you not the one when I wrote you a personal note about my son having a stroke and no insurance and how the hospital put him out…told me to go “and get a job”. Like I don’t have one!–

No, actually, I wasn’t. There were several emails in between, and when you release them per your threat everyone will see that’s not how it went down at all. You can’t even get the facts straight when they’re right there in your face.

And guess what Liz — not all those who complain about your calls are right-wingers. There are plenty of left-wingers out there who think you’re giving their causes a bad name.

A “fairness in media” meeting was held? How pathetic. Do you really think an AM talk station in the 71st largest radio market is really setting the agenda for anyone? Why don’t you target the monopoly state newspaper instead of spending all your time trying to tell radio stations how to run their affairs?

My whole problem with you is the same one I had for years with people who used to complain to the newspaper that we weren’t covering this or that. “This or that happened, and you didn’t cover it.” No, we didn’t, but you already knew about it, didn’t you? You didn’t want us to cover it because YOU didn’t know about it — you wanted us to cover it because you think everyone else should have it shoved down their throats. You essentially see the media as a way of thrusting your agenda in front of the public. And since you don’t have to suffer the consequences if the public changes the channel, you never have to answer for the unpopularity of your positions.

I don’t think I’m giving away any shop secrets when I say that WDEL’s programming is not going to revolve around what you think is news and whether the mainstream press is covering it. And I’m sorry you don’t agree, but I’m done with listening to you bitch about how WDEL is run. You don’t have a single fact to back up anything you say about how to run a radio station. An entire network of left-wing talk stations has gone belly-up trying to sell what you think is so salable. If you think you’re onto something so big, get a job as a consultant. Oh, dear, have I insulted you again by suggesting you get a job?

  31. Al Mascitti says:

Uh, “Senator McCain,” I’m pretty sure I heard a gong. Your time’s up.

  32. Al Mascitti says:

Oh, by the way, Liz, I don’t have a problem with coming on the blogs to berate you personally. Dish it out, take it — do these words go into any sentence you’re familiar with?

  33. liz allen says:

Al: take a pill or put down your cocktail, I have had about enough of your twisting in the wind.

  34. John McCain says:

I am on MSNBC you little fuck. I saw your comment- my face fell off? The last time that happened was when I dropped acid in ’69.

Respect my ass or you will be headed to Sudan, pronto. This is the straight talk express.

  35. Brandywine Listener says:

I am certain there is some truth to Al Mascitti’s comments regarding Liz Allen not being liked by some listeners. What Al probably does not know, and probably never will know, are the listeners who tune in because Liz is a character and provocateur on the issues and like her. Since no one is going to complain about Liz if they like her, Al, you will never know! Maybe you should take a poll.

In all sincerity, I have never had a problem with Liz in her delivery. She reminds me of the man, in the movie Netwoek, suggesting on TV to the citizens of the Counrty to begin yelling out the window “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore.”

    http://videos.emule.com/play/network–im-mad-as-hell-(dib2-HBsF08

I know, Al, you have seen this movie and would suggest you cut a break to Liz especially if she can present better. I just don’t think it plays well for WDEL to cut her off without spelling out ground rules for her to adhere to before cutting her off.

Frankly, many comments you have made about Liz are correct. Her style is not the most effective as it could be. I would hope that she would recognize her style needs some upgrading and this might be possible at the urging of WDEL and yourself.

I for one am a Liz Allen Fan and would encourage you, Al, to seek a compromise and not turn away listeners like me from WDEL.

    My 2 cents.

  36. liz allen says:

Al: go to the top of this page! I dont listen to your show and Jason started the topic. I was commenting on his comment.

You, went off topic and started berating me! Read it for yourself. Your attack started with Item 5. Item 11….all off topic. Czarina! oh no thats not an attack!

FYI: the terms neo con (a term used on “corporate media everyday), fascist, a term thats been around since Mussolini, and very descriptive of some conservatives today.

And, you obviously don’t know about the Fairness in Media campaign, but many who view these posts will realize the truth as they were probably in attendance.

  37. sue says:

Al – I have often listened to your show and enjoyed it, even asked other people to listen because I thought your views were worth listening to. However, lately I am have turned your show off while at work as we in my office are disgusted by your rants and want to know if you are having problems with your wife or do you just hate all woman.

Now I find out that you have banned Liz Allen from your show and have had serious problems with Nancy Willing (The statement you made about she and Harris McDowell brought to my attention on the blogs was way over the top and should not have been made in my opinion by a WDEL radio host).

My office — an office of woman — enjoyed hearing what Liz had to say and admired her spunk. Liz does what many of us working woman do not have the time to do. She does the research for many issues that are important to us, calls in — and leaves it up to us to decide whether or not to believe the information she finds. She sites her sources and we can check for ourselves as the validity of the information if we find it important. I was surprised as to the number of times she is right on target and ahead of the mainstream media.

I am amazed by the number of times Liz is accurate in her impressions of breaking news and I admire the courage it takes for her to put those views and impressions out to the public — add that to her enviable ability to brush her critics aside to what she believes is right, just and will be of help to others is a trait that I many others admire and cherish.

Al – your credibility as a radio host is quickly eroding when you viciously attack your callers on the blogs while unilaterally banning them from voicing their opinion on your/WDEL’s show and denigrating their views. I am very disappointed to learn that you believe censoring is your answer to silencing those you disagree with.

  38. Al Mascitti says:

Sue: I don’t disagree with Liz, or with Nancy Willing, on most issues. So there goes that theory. And if you, or she, can’t take criticism, oh well, too bad. She sure dishes it out, and if she can’t take it she should stop dishing it out.

“You were counting on local corporate media to tell you the truth.” That’s the first line in Liz’s post, about something that happened on my show. It’s the same BS line she’s been peddling for a couple of weeks now. That’s not an attack? I shouldn’t defend myself? You people are buffoons.

What I don’t like is being attacked, and I’ll fight back when I am. Sorry that doesn’t sit well with you women. Boo hoo. Actually, if I thought you represented anything but Liz’s vaunted “support,” I might take you seriously. As it is, not so much.

  39. Al Mascitti says:

I want to point out Liz’s obvious lie.

Al: go to the top of this page! I dont listen to your show and Jason started the topic. I was commenting on his comment.

Here’s what’s at the top of this page:

I was just on the radio and Al Mascitti was telling me that the war is not a big campaign issue.

    Here’s Liz’s first line:

you were counting on local corporate media to tell you the truth!

I’m sorry, but you people must be nuts if you think I shouldn’t take that as an attack. Off-topic my left foot. Liz made me the topic — and a few hours later she’s misrepresenting it, even with the obvious evidence staring her, and everybody else, right in the face.

If that’s your idea of credibility, Sue, thanks but no thanks. I’m glad you don’t find me credible.

  40. PhillyMike says:

Al, you have a good show. I listen every morning on my drive to Philadelphia. Yes, reception is good to south Philly. Hey, cool it with Liz. She has more fanfare that you and WDEL want to mess with!

  41. liz allen says:

Al: I still say go to the top of this page. I wasn’t listening to your show! I was commenting on Jason’s call. What don’t you understand about local corporate media…don’t you know that WILM owned by Clear Channel is talk radio in fact Fox Fake news…thats local. And, your show isn’t the only show….there’s your bud Jensen, who still believes WMD were in Iraq, and singing the same ole tune he has always sung in distorting the truth about Iraq.

You assumed it was about you, you assumed wrong!

  42. OY, please leave me out of the convo, thanks.
I have asked Liz and Floyd to take me off of their email distribution list because of their hateful lashing out at myself and others when someone disagrees with even one iota of their positions, especially on the single-payer.
I don’t need to have those two calling me dishonest etc. just because they don’t like what I have to say.
I guess that is a form of censorship.
They were crudding up my already stuffed-to-the-brim inbox with a kind of nastiness, whether directed at myself or others, that I am not interesting in exposing myself to.
Political change only happens by putting alliances together. People who constantly shred and ‘spray’ (that cracked me up, Al) are by definiation ineffective.
The work that needs to be accomplished in Dover this year, or in DC for that matter, will not happen unless individuals come together in common cause, cross party lines and stand up for what is right.
As I said earlier on FSP: the Liz’ s of this world lets the Hubes of this world saunter around throwing smoke bombs akimbo. Liz gives the fright-wingers the ammo to obliterate the message because she couches everything in such extreme and personal terms.
Sorry Liz, but you had ought to smarten up some.

  43. liz allen says:

Al: your comment about Nancy Willing and Harris McDowell, was the most vicious comment I have read on any of these blogs or heard on the radio. So maybe you should take a chill pill when it comes to making your terrible remarks about women you don’t like, for whatever reason.

  44. liz allen says:

Nancy: you better be clear here…you got nothing in your in box from me! So tell the truth instead of piling on!

  45. Hube says:

Nance. Nice try. I am not nearly as conservative as you are way-out whack-job liberal.

You and Liz, despite your differences, are loonie toons of the highest order. And this is just the place you want to be, too.

  46. Whatever Liz. You trashed me on several blog posts a little ways back and I decided that was enough. Your emails go right to discard. Again I am sorry, but I can’t play that way.
I read and research and write just fine on my own steam, danke.
I publish people’s information if they have something constructive to report.
If you are sending something to me that you think might bring Delaware forward, then include that in the subject line and I’ll take a look.
    ~*~

    HEY THERE HUBE CUBE!!!!!!!

  47. liz allen says:

Nancy: you made an allegation here you cant back up. You and Dr. McDowell had a discussion on single payer. He provided you with information. You have admitted you hadn’t studied the issue, that was obvious. But to intimate that I trashed you is a flat out lie.

Now if you can prove I ever called you dishonest, please do so with proof.

You have a problem that goes back to Peoples Settlement. I saw the evidence and I backed off, you continued to believe, and you continued to support Harris McDowell when a deal was made.

Now that the AG is investigating the issue, and there is even more evidence of a problem, perhaps you will finally admit you were misled.

  48. Liz, you were trashing me on the blogs, badly.

People’s Settlement is doing just fine, regardless of the bullshit that you believe.

McDowell and a deal and my support? Pray tell. Details? This is all new to me but I await your enlightening prose on the matter.

I am not saying you said

  49. liz allen says:

Nancy: I don’t have to prove anything, the AG will do that, thats there job.nuff said,

  50. Working Woman says:

I’m new to this blogosphere, but after reading these comments, I have to chime in. For me, talk radio is a way to connect with the pulse of people’s opinions, but I also use it to learn what is not in the regular news. I listen to the radio during the day. When Liz Allen comes on – and I KNOW that voice when I hear it – I usually stop what I’m doing, turn the radio up and listen! She always has something interesting to say. It may be a different take on what I’ve heard on the news or, more likely, something not yet in the news, but will be down the road. I just love her! She and Cindy just tell it like it is! The topics are interesting and thought provoking. I know others – family, friends, and even a pizza shop owner in Elsmere who feel the same way. ‘The Girls’ are women we feel we know – even though we’ve never met them. They don’t always ‘speak’ for us, but they bring information and spirit to the discourse. I was wondering why I haven’t heard them on Al’s show lately. How sad to find that they’ve been ‘banned’ from the show. It’s very disappointing, but lucky I’ve found them on WILM! Al, you seriously should rethink your decision. Lighten up.

  51. cindy says:

So, Al, what’s up with this decision? Was it you or Rick or managment at WDEL???

  52. The commentor(s) above should know that the blog owners constantly check into the identity of who is typing the comments.
They probably won’t ‘give you away, but you should know that they know who you are.
    Just sayin’.
Your various alias ID’s aren’t fooling anyone.

  53. liz allen says:

Nancy: your threats are going nowhere…we are all onto your attempts. Trying to threaten supporters…wont work either…they can just email direct and avoid the blogs.
