Burris Out. Nice Statement.
Dave brings a lot to the table. His whole statement is worth reading:
I would love to be the Governor of the state of Delaware, and more importantly, I would love to run for Governor: to earn it, everyday, vote by vote, from before sunrise to after sunset. I have a story to tell, one of growing up here, being educated in a Delaware public school, being a five-time small business owner, helping to elect good Republicans to office, taking on those in my own party during the Atkins fiasco, and now leading on issues like open and good government, spending and entrepreneurism.
In fact, I am the only person running for or considering a run for Governor who’s ever been the #1 person in a private business or organization. I’ve had to meet a payroll as a small business owner. I’ve had to face the uncertainties that only an entrepreneur can know. I’ve succeeded in business and I’
ve struggled in business. It is this kind of experience and mentality that we desperately need in Dover: someone to ask not where we find the money, but instead to ask if we really need to spend the money. I would relish the opportunity to rebuild the bureaucracy, eliminate the waste and rid the state of the cronyism. It would be rewarding and fun to bring that mindset to Dover as the next Governor.
But now, unfortunately, is not the time for me to pursue that goal, for three reasons.
the people are not where I need them to be
Translation: “One day you’ll come crawling back to me, bitches.”
The hubris – it burns!!!
Despite the best efforts of Bush, Burris, and the national GOP, Delaware is still not in bad enough economic shape to accept wage cuts and a barebones budget.
Did you really think he was ever being considered seriously by the party? Come on, get real!
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that whenever Burris loses a election he “wags the dog ” with an unrelated story and then disappears for a few days? I for one would like to hear his excuse for Romneys embarrassing showing yesterday. The NJ shows that McCain won every Rep. district in the state. All 41 of them, pretty impressive, I think.
To be fair, Burris said he was going to make a decision on Feb. 5 some time ago.
Yeah, how convenient?
To be fair, McCain won Connecticut by 19 points, New York by 23 points and New Jersey by 27 points. Romney way outperformed expectations in Delaware by getting within 12 points.
But, Dave promised us that Romney would save the world. What a crock.
J – I want to thank you and Dana for posting on this and performing a public service by giving the anons of the world an outlet. Thanks.
And yes, Romney did outperform in Delaware. In fact, it was the only state in the country in which he performed significantly better than he was expected to. The expectation was that we’d lose by 25 points, like Jersey. We halved that, with no resources.
J-? Romney= Nice moral victory.
Here is the real reason:
Respondents who intend to vote in the 2008 election for Governor:
1. 28.94% of respondents, if their choice in the Republican race for Governor were Mike Protack, Eric Buckson, William Swain Lee, Dave Burris, or Terry Spence, would vote for Mike Protack. This represents 503 respondents who would vote for Mike Protack.
2. 4.03% of respondents would vote for Eric Buckson.
3. 30.32% of respondents would vote for William Swain Lee.
4. 6.62% of respondents would vote for Dave Burris.
5. 9.61% of respondents would vote for Terry Spence.
6. 20.48% of respondents are undecided or did not express candidate preference.
7. If you factor out the non responses of the 1,382 positive responses 36.3% of all respondents would vote for Mike Protack.
Food for thought.
Fraud — Your poll was fraudulent for reasons I described earlier, most prominently that the question was phrased to determine whether one would consider voting for the above. I didn’t even get to vote for myself.
Nobody is scared of Mike Protack. My four-year-old could beat you to a pulp in a primary.
Nice to see you lost a poll that was skewed in your favor, though. Fitting.
Mike –
You finished second to Lee in your own poll?
I wouldn’t go around bragging about that.
71% said “no” to Protack. Let that sink in for a second.
“If you factor out the non responses of the 1,382 positive responses 36.3% of all respondents would vote for Mike Protack.”
Since your name was the first mentioned, and non responses typically rise as the poll goes on, that statement is truly laughable.
I’m presuming that this poll of yours is much like your previous ones, and that it was aimed at likely primary voters (it is just a guess – you haven’t updated that joke of a website since September, and your BLOG in nearly a month). How does it feel to be the only announced candidate, with nearly a year of running for THIS office (this time), and still only garner 29%? Keep in mind, at this time you are the ONLY choice, and you lose overwhelmingly to apathy when you are put in front of likely voters.
Sorry Boys but the poll was well done and the results are there for all to see. Yes, the raw results showed Bill ahead by a very slim margin but instead of hiding the results I published them. The results are positive for me in every respect and you certainly recognize that fact or you would not complaining so much.
The impact of this poll was to ascertain where potential support was after Levin decided not to enter the race, clear and simple.
As for the website update while everyone else was waiting for Alan the last three months we were gathering data on primary voters. That effort in the last three months will be critical in the months ahead. Websites and blogs are secondary to hard data on voters.
I would assume after Romney’s overwhelming rejection by voters has Dave a bit angry. Think about it Dave, your guy lost to McCain who was written off three months ago, pretty sad isn’t it? Most of us would say it is ‘fitting’. Romney is finished in this race and every one knows it.
Dave, please have the courage of your convictions and get in the race. Stop with excuses and simply be a man and join the race. If not, then you are clearly the fraud.
Asshat – This isn’t the schoolyard. You can’t double-dog dare me into the race. To try and do so speaks volumes about you. If I thought I had a chance this year against the winner of the Dem primary, I’d come wipe the floor with you. But I don’t.
Romney lost by 12 points. Hardly an “overwhelming rejection.” He finished a lot closer than anyone expected here.
Oh, and by the way, Romney got 16,000 votes in Delaware without spending a dime, which is THREE TIMES as many as you’ve ever received. Maybe I’ll call him and ask him if he can come give you lessons…
Looks like Protack is calling Dave out.
Put up or shut up time for Burris.
Dave,
The truth hurts but 2 of every 3 voters in the GOP primary said “NO” to Romney, clear and simple. Why is it you make excuses for his loss but you refuse to accept them from anyone else? Admit it, he got whipped by McCain. Why did he not spend money or get a surrogate to come to the state? I will assume you have an excuse for those facts also.
Ah yes, three times as many votes. The turnout was three times as large as a normal GOP primary.
It appears you are on quite a roll after a 2 to 1 special election loss which you have tons of excuses for also. Everyone else is a loser but you?
Yes, a man has to know his limits ( a Dirty Harry quote) and you freely admit you have no chance which is the most intelligent thing you have said in months. Finally, you know your place.
You are close to my oldest son’s age and I am incredibly happy he did not turn out like you. He will complete Medical school this year and went into Medicine to heal and help something you would never understand. He also clearly accepts responsibility for what he achieves or fails to achieve.
Please join the race or calmly accept your life of quiet desperation and unrealized grandeur. You my friend are the FRAUD.
Ha! Protack said “a man has to know his limits.” You crack me up, Mike. That is you, isn’t it?
Oh Snap… Veronica TRIPLE-DOG dared him!
“Protack’s” writing style is different; I can’t put my finger on it right now but it is different. Maybe he’s just mad.
“Yes, a man has to know his limits ( a Dirty Harry quote) and you freely admit you have no chance which is the most intelligent thing you have said in months. Finally, you know your place.”
Against Carney and Markell, Mike. You would be no trouble at all.
You like to talk about the recent losses, but the difference between you and I is that people actually ask me to run their underdog campaigns, because I’m the only person who’s ever won one. They want nothing to do with you.
All I remember of you from the special elections was all that time you spent on Atkins’ front porch on Election Day while some of use were working to win an underdog election, and then you were completely gone from the Christian and Malec races, only to show up after the expected losses trying to prove some kind of point.
You’re a piece of garbage, Mike. Plain and simple. Garbage.
From what I saw, you too Dave, were “completely gone from the Christian and Malec races”! Put up or go to bed sissy. Are you scared of a Protack vs. Burris primary? Sure sounds like it.
Oh and one more thing, Your excuses for the whooping Romney took doesn’t cut it with me. I’ve got more substance in my bra and thong panties than you have in all of your screwed up beliefs. I’m off to bed, work comes early, nighty, night boy.
Dave,
Very simple, get in the race and prove yourself. Become a man or stay a coward. The poll numbers reflect what the GOP primary voters think of you.
The special elections you mention. Yes, I attended the Sussex County GOP banquet the night before and stayed over night in Sussex on my dime to work at the polls when they opened for Greg Hastings who I supported because like Greg I had been a Boy Scout leader for years also. Yes, I stopped by John’s house after my shift at the polls was done. We talked for 20 minutes or so about how he was doing. I wished him well then and I do now.
The other special elections. I made over 300 phone calls for WG Edmanson the two weeks before the Levy Court election. I called every voter in his district who had voted in the 2006 primary. I also attended WG’s swearing in ceremony.
The Jim Bowers race. I offered his campaign team my services on door knocking in the Ardens because the FAA airplane noise issue was important to those residents. I was told the Ardens wasn’t really GOP territory. Still, I attended his fundraiser at Harry’s Grill and put up 4′ x 8′ signs at polling places the night before the election.
The Christian and Malec races. I emailed the GOP HQ when help was asked for but never recieved a response. One can offer help but it has to taken also. What are you talking about with “showing up after the expected losses? What time and place would that be? I can’t wait to hear your latest delusional iteration. Maybe you should have made sure the mail was delivered in the race you ran or is that another inconvenient fact you blame someone else with?
You are the only person who has ever won one and under dog race? What a whopper that is. Greg Hastings was a great candidate and Lynn Bullock was not in a very conservative district. Please do not make yourself out at as Karl Rove. If that was the case you would be in high demand but of course you are not.
Constantly inflating your self and your resume is not very manly. It is laughable.
Again, stay on the sidelines throwing out barbs. You show how shallow and cowardly you are by
always slandering others in an attempt to bring yourself up in the eyes of others.
Once again, get in the race and let’s see what you are made of for once. Don’t continue to make excuses, you either have it you don’t. You remind me of the hundreds of ‘macho’ guys who came to Parris Island every year and couldn’t hack it. You would spend weeks in the PCP (physical conditioning platoon also called the fat body platoon) and still end up being sent home as a non hacker.
Plain and simple, get in the race or continue to hide. Either way is fine with me.
You talk really tough, Mike, for a guy who keeps losing. And very gubernatorial as well. Funny, I think I saw fat jokes on the last few pink postcards…
Oh, and it’s nice that you lay down of these challenges now that I’ve already decided not to run. I must’ve missed the taunts while I was still in it. You’re such a freakin’ baby.
“If that was the case you would be in high demand but of course you are not.”
Let’s see. I was asked to do the Hastings race. I was asked to do the Christian race. I was asked to do the Malec race. I was asked to do the Levin race. I was asked to do the O’Donnell race. I’ve met with 16 potential House and Senate candidates so far at the request of others. Sounds like demand to me, dipshit.
And Hastings wasn’t the underdog race I spoke of. Joe Booth’s was, Phony.
I’m done here. If you have anything else to say, call a press conference and see if anybody shows up this time.
Let’s see you have met with everyone but who has hired you? Well? With your immeasurable talent you should have a full dance card by now. I sense you have a bit of resume inflation again. Once again, you are no Karl Rove.
Challenges after you pull out? You were included in the poll weren’t you? The underwhelming results you achieved are self evident. You are a legend in your own mind.
Joe Booth is indeed a fine Representative but don’t fail to tell everyone how the GOP reapportioned the incumbent’s (John Schroeder I believe was his name) district so his home town of Lewes was all that was left of his old district. I am glad Joe won but don’t give your self a Nobel Prize just yet. The focus of the new district was moved to Georgetown where Joe was the Mayor.
Do the O’Donnell race? Isn’t she the same person you said we should encourage to run so Biden will blow her out and then she will go away? Did you mention that fact to whoever asked you to do the race’? Well? I wonder who will hire you now with such ferocious loyalty to your client’s welfare.
Do the Levin race? There was no Levin race or did you not read the News Paper?
Thanks for mentioning the press event. The event was designed to get radio exposure and newspaper mention as a group I am affiliated (Alliance for Health Care Reform) with was planning a Health Care Rally. For what we needed to accomplish the press notification was a success. Up until that point Markell was saying he was the only candidate with a Universal Plan for Health Care, now he says he is the only Democrat with a plan. The event served its purpose.
Strange but you seem to want to assign your opinion on every thing as if it came from Mt. Sinai and on a stone tablet. Trust me, nobody cares what you have to say about anything.
Yes, you are done here and in fact you never got started. Your problem is simple-you have no parade so you feel you have to rain on someone elses parade to feel important.
Fat jokes? Don’t worry, maybe you can take advantage of Gov. Minner’s program to use weight watchers at taxpayer expense.
Funny, last week Delaware was in a death spiral and you were the only person who could save it. Now you are mad there is no outrage so you can’t run because too many have state jobs and use state assistance?
I will await your next unsubstantiated rant which is detached from any sense of reality. If not, then game is over and I won.
Protack has clearly won this debate.
Here’s an offer Mike. You get to run for governor this time. On your own (or as we like to say, with everyone who supports you!).
The hitch is that when you lose, you must then leave the state forever, taking that Ditka imitation moustache with you.
If you win, you’re the king.
Don’t ya just love how when Protack whips Burris in a debate Dave changes his name to Toejam?
No, MikeVeronicaJohnAtkins, ToeJam couldn’t possibly be Dave. He’d be dead or at least a size 34 waist before he would ever leave open the possibility of calling you “king.”
What ever you say Dave.
I mean Smitty.
No, it’s actually me – Randy Smith. that’s me. You know who I am, Mike. Jason (both O’Neill and Scott) knows me. Geek knows me. They can vouch. It’s my class night, so my IP might be off, but I won’t blame my router.
Nice try.
Did ya catch up to Lee in your poll yet?
7. If you factor out the non responses of the 1,382 positive responses 36.3% of all respondents would vote for Mike Protack.
So, how much does that bump Lee’s original 30.32%, considering your original number was 28.94?
Heloooo Smitty.
