Is in discussing the torture arguement with my Republican father is how it seems to only pertain to Muslims. It’s like all these tactics are only going to be used on terrorists. As if when performing waterboarding we have a checklist to follow.

I think in the discussion you have with someone about these “tactics used to protect our freedom” *(my quote actually but when you put something in quotes it has more meaning, no?)* that you must ask the person what if these things were done to you. That I think is the part we need to hammer home. What the current administration has managed to do is dehumanize the terrorists and make all things that erode our Civlil Liberties only seem applicable to the most crazed, dehumanzied, scum of the earth, all I want to do is kill you human being.
You and I know damn well that isn’t the case and people like Carper know it to.
There are some pretty nasty folks out there- but the frenzy over terrorism is just that an orchastrated campoaiung from Rummy to keep us so afraid none of us is willing to question all the underanded crap he and the corporate guys are doing to erode the foundations of our democratic government.

I think you mean the prisoners we take, or even Muslims, rather than terrorists in general.
