Dover Post Sold

Filed in National by on February 20, 2008

This note on the Delaware State News Discussion board is interesting:

A little birdie told me that the Dover Post has sold their newspapers to a company from New York. This includes their papers in central Delaware. Some employees will be let go. The news will be released tomorrow in the media. I confirmed the story with high ranking local folks in the community that are close to the situation. Naturally I can’t name names, but it was also confirmed with DP employees.

The floods are old old old, but they have some youngish off-spring. Maybe the Jr. Floods simply don’t think there is much future in giving Celia Cohen 10 inches a week. Hold it…that came out wrong.

Oh yeah…the reason I was over at the State News site. They are reporting that Nancy “I love Earmarks” Wagner has a challenger. Stay tuned.

He does not exisit in Celia’s world. I thought that was funny, but read it just befor last night’s results starting coming in.

  3. nemski says:

    Um, what’s the Dover Post?

  4. jason330 says:

A chain of weakly free newspapers that are really “Advertisers” since they don’t have a paid circulation base.

    • Middletown Transcript
    • Smyrna/Clayton Sun-Times
    • Sussex Countian
    • Milford Beacon
    • Community News
    • Delmarva Express
    I think Hockessin as well.

  5. R Smitty says:

Huh? Transcript has a paid circulation base…unless I am misunderstanding you. Granted, it’s cheap, but it’s still money.

  6. Newark Post is now free but our best paper in Newark is the UD’s Review, also free.

I guess Cohen was getting paid…

  7. jason330 says:

How did that get past our fact checkers?

    Thanks for the update.

  8. jason330 says:

“weakly” ha! I made a funny by mistake.

  9. Rebecca says:

I’m pretty certain that the Community News group is not part of the Flood empire.

    This isn’t good news.

  10. disbelief says:

So spill the Wagner opponent already. Kaza again?

  11. jason330 says:

I just saw the headline on the dead tree edition. And don’t want to pay for the online.

    Someone email me SVP.

  12. Dana Garrett says:

Maybe there weren’t any more reporters left to fire because of what they write during their off hours on My Space.

Where’s the fun in holding power over employees if you can’t eliminate their wages for exercising their after-hours 1st amendment rights?
