What I read…

have I said that I love the Brandywine Public library?  Well I do.  If it only had porn I could replace it with the internet…

The Octopus on my Head (Signed Lettered Edition) Um wow, I had no idea what to expect.  It was in the “new” section and I borrowed  the book based on its’ cover and its’ title.  It totally threw me for a loop.  The main character Curly is a 6’2″ bald headed degenerate coffee shop guitarist that has an octopus tattooed on his head.  It starts out with him and his junky buddy Ivy doing a tarball of heroin.  And that is just the beginning.  It took me about 5 hours to read.  I couldn’t put the darn book down once I got started.  It was an eclectic book that took place in and around the Oakland, Ca. area.

I would liken this book to one of those movies you start to watch on a Saturday afternoon and can’t stop watching.  It wasn’t great, but it twisted and turned more wildly than I thought it would have based on the opening 10 pages describing a couple of junkies doing heroin.  After that it got even better.
