Attorney General Joseph R. “Beau” Biden, state Sen. Karen Peterson, First Amendment attorney David Finger and three journalists will speak tonight as part of a panel discussion on “Open Government: A Continuing Dialogue.”
Former CNN correspondent Ralph Begleiter, now distinguished journalist in residence at the University of Delaware, will moderate the discussion, which is co-sponsored by the Delaware Press Association and The News Journal Co.
The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. at the University of Delaware’s Goodstay Center at 2700 Pennsylvania Ave., in Wilmington.
Anyone here going to this? I may actually be able to roll out of here early so I may try to go….
I’m going…I’m only five minutes away from the Wilmington campus, so I will be there.
Jason, you gonna make the trek up from below the canal?
I’ll be there in spirit
But can we send you the bar tab, dv?
DV,
Good, then I won’t have to compete with your stunning-hot looks.
DEFOG will be there
wait there’s a bar? I’m so there then!
Donviti in Italian means “open bar”.
Great forum, it is clear some simple changes need to be made to enhance Freedom Of Information issues but it is more apparent we need an Inspector General.
There is too much reluctance to open up our government and protect citizen rights to information.
Mike: inspector general doesnt go far nuff! We need an Independent Inspector General who reports to the citizens once a year…who has subpoena power, who will go into every agency everywhere tax dollars both federal and state exist.
We cannot count on a “good governor” who will choose “good people”. How is the Public Guardian, Public Advocate, or even the Auditor working out for the citizens. The position should have no political strings. No ability for cronyism appointments.
