Geek Post From The Valley of the Sun

Filed in National by on March 16, 2008

Sorry that I have been so non-posty for the past week or so, but I am currently on the road in Arizona.  This time of year is amazing in Arizona.  The desert is in bloom and I have taken advantage of it this weekend.  I have also found a brewpub with free wifi, so all is well…

Phoenix has very interesting issues.  They have an immigration issue here.  They have natural resources issues.  They have a conservative history with an insurgent liberal movement.  They have a problem with an aging population.  Oh and they have a guy in the finals for the President of the United States.

Arizona tears my heart out.  It is beautiful.  The mountains are magestic, the desert is tranquil, and the landscape is ever-changing.  But I cannot help but think that the whole city is an artificial dot on the map that really shouldn’t be here.  Water is scarce, but there are lawns and green golf courses.  It is hot as hell in the summer, sucking up electricity at a fantastic rate.  It seems like a castle in the clouds.

But, man, I could live here very happily.

Remember how important it is to keep hydrated! I find Pilsners do best for keeping a lot of fluid in the body. An added benefit is that the cowgirls look better after sufficient hydration.
