A Plan For Electoral Victory
I heard an interview with Ed Rendell on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me about the need for Democrat unity. Here is what he told a group of people in Florida: Whatever happens with the Democratic nomination, roughly half of the Democrats will be disappointed. After the nominee is determine (whenever that is) the other supporters have 10 days to be disappointed. Go ahead and piss and moan. Scream, if you must. After 10 days, fall in line. There will be no further bitching about what coulda, shoulda.
I am willing to take this pledge. If you are willing, please do so publicly in the comments section. Hopefully it will also help by tempering our criticism of “the enemy.” The enemy is going to be John McCain, we should be prepared to meet him head-on.

sorry geek, I’m no fucking sheep!
What a slimy question. Ed is like the GOP who when they are losing, starts begging for civility and bipartisanship.
Ed should have asked that question before Obama won all those elections.
Now Ed Rendell just needs to shut his yap.
Sure you are. You just don’t know it, yet.
So, put you down as a no, also? Or just attacking the messenger?
BOTH!
So if Obama loses, you will vote for McCain? I(s that the strategy? Because that is a shitty strategy on so many levels that it puts knots in my stomach.
Hey, with Edwards out, either Hillary and Obama will have to work to earn my vote.
Pledges are bullshit. Why are you so anxious for your vote to be taken for granted this soon?
I am interested in putting a Democrat in the White House. As a part of that, I am interested in making sure that the supporters of both sides (and I’m on Obama’s side) don’t wreck the chances for the other to get elected with BS attacks.
I want Hillary supporters to start getting used to the fact that Obama will be their candidate and they should treat him as such. I want Obama supporters to consider that Hillary could be their candidate if Obama falters.
I have said that I will not vote for Hillary until November, and I stand by that. But if we let this protracted fight rip the party apart, we will lose in November to Grampa Munster and spend 100 years in Iraq and a pro-life supreme court.
I hate to say it (because I wish I didn’t have to resign myelf to being a sheep – as DV puts it – but Geek is right. Facts are facts. There isn’t going to be a choice that’s “just perfect” for me. Ultimately both BHO and HRC are liberal enough for me.
Luckily I think us Obama supporters don’t need to worry though!
19% of BHO said they won’t vote for Clinton
28% of HRC said they won’t vote for Obama
I agree with anon #2.
If Clinton wins will I work for her ? No.
Will I give her money? No.
Will I vote for her? …. The way she is running this campaign…I sorta doubt it.
That percentage breakdown is influenced by the fact that most Obama supporters feel like Dorian right now.
I like Dorian’s attitude. Before you go to sleep at night, just repeat over and over: “Obama will win, Obama will win, Obama will win, Obama will win, Obama will win….”
Was Rendell in the middle of breaking down the lastest Eagles free agent signing on Comcast when he made these comments? Just wondering.
J330 – interesting dilemma. What would you do if HRC is the nominee? Skip that row in the voting booth? I sure to hell know you wouldn’t vote for McCain. Maybe you can write in Rob Foraker?
Hmmm. Is Foraker more or less crazy than McCain?
That may be an impossible question to answer, Geek. First, they are on different planets. McCain is grandpa-crazy. Foraker, he kinda freaks me out.
me too. I’m afraid to order pizza delivery for fear he’ll deliver it.
If we are going for crazy, let’s not forget that Gravelanche is still with us. (Altho it looks from his website that he is switching to the Libertarian Party — is this new?)
You can always tell when Democrats get restless when they start asking each other for loyalty pledges. I’m definitely not voting for McCain, so I guess I’m with anon#2 as well.
