One loooooooooooooooooooong ass primary
As you may know from reading the depressing crap I’ve been putting up lately, I’ve come around to the fact that the Democratic primary is going to go on well past PA.
It is going to go into the summer and into the convention and Obama is going to have more delegates but they will not count because they still owe student loans or didn’t return a library book or some shit like that, but he’ll give his speech only no confetti cannons will go off because Clinton will have them stuffed with lawyers and the primary will go into the fall and John McCain himself will say “What the fuck?” on Jay Leno’s show sometime in October and the November election will come and he’ll have his hand on the Bible and be repeating the oath of office but he’ll be kind of yelling and nobody will be really sure if he promised all the stuff that you need to promise because Clinton will be standing next to him with a megaphone saying that the nomination is still undecided.
That is where my head is at. So when I read this from xstyker…
(These polls) suggests strong trending for Obama, and at this point I’m beginning to expect that next week’s polls will all show Clinton leads of 10 or less. I will revisit my prediction for the race at that time. An undeniable fact is that Clinton has not held a lead of more than 12 in any poll conducted in the past two weeks. Without a win by 20 or more, it will simply be impossible for Clinton to catch Obama in pledged delegates.
…I shrug.
Once again the Dems will clutch defeat from the jaws of victory. Thanks Clinton for destroying our party. You are the real Judas.
With all respect Henri and Jason and the rest of yas . . .
First of all I believe our party is a lot more resilient than you give us credit for. If the BushCo conspiracy didn’t manage to kill us, and the DLC hasn’t completely done us in, then we must be pretty strong. I know everyone who comes here to this community is strong.
Secondly, there are very real signs that Jane and John Doe have awakened from their 16 year slumber and might actually be engaging in the electoral process. Yeah, this primary has gone on too long and it’s been the pits, but the constant hammering is managing to reach even the most self-centered Americans.
What Jane and John Doe are saying is enough with the Republicans. You can see that in the new party registration numbers in Delaware. I think the driving force in the Hillary campaign is that they know whoever emerges with the nomination in August is going to win the presidency. So yes, Jason, it could drag on to the convention, because being POTUS is the coolest thing you can do on this earth and Hillary isn’t going to give up. Thing is, the Hillary camp and the people she has surrounded herself with are bad at this. Bill hauled them all to victory with his charm and charisma but Hillary doesn’t have that arrow in her quiver. Obama does and he has good people in his campaign.
McCain is toast. Obama will slug it out and eventually get the nomination and go on to win in November. I predict!
I predict that the superdelegates will pledge to Obama between PA and SD/MT. By the end of June, Obama will have enough declared superdelegates to have the nomination sewn up, and Clinton (who, supposedly, is very smart) will concede.
I think the race is going to end sooner than June for sure. She is going to get hammerred for this Colombia thing. Then the taxes come out, her money is drying up, she is being outraised big time….
start singing…thank God.
I can’t wait till this is a McCain vs. Obama race. That will be an easy distinction once it gets started.
