OMFG! Obama in Philly

Filed in Uncategorized by on April 19, 2008

(AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)Wow. Now I wish I had blown off my book club to see Obama. He drew 30,000 people to see him deliver a speech at Independence Hall. It was the largest crowd that he has drawn in the campaign (and that is saying something).

Let’s put this in context. Tonight in Philly there was a Phillies game and the Ringling Bros. Circus performance and he holds his rally on a Friday night in the city. This is an incredible draw. 30K with the Phillies drawing 45,000 and the Circus drawing about 17, 000 this kind of turnout has to be pleasing to Obama fans like me.

4 days to go. My prediction, Hillary squeaks out a small victory (5%) and concedes the race to Obama by Friday. But I’m an optimist.

For any night-owl Obama fans, there is a rally tomorrow night at the very symbolic 3AM near the site of the Tun Tavern in Philly. Obama won’t be there, but it is sponsored by Veterans for Obama and will culminate in a lit drop. I wish I could make it. It sounds like fun.

Meanwhile, is there no rightwing meme that Clinton would not ptomote? No wingnut smear that she would not use?

Geek, 3am? I’ll be there in spirit. My 3am days have… alas… past.

Jason, I’m thinking HRC is sounding a wee bit bitter.

Pandora, I agree. I have about 1 3AM night in me a year.

  6. Is there something wrong with the code in the “We are safer” post? On my IE browser, it jumps from that post to the Tim Smith/Mike Castle post from two days ago and I’m unable to read the “We are safer” post’s comments.

    Just an FYI.

  7. Pandora says:

Hey, I was just about to ask the question. My front page lists only those 2 posts. I’ve lost everything else

Not only did MoveOn.org never get involved in our bombing of Afghanistan, they didn’t even come out against the Iraq war until a couple years into it, which made the Peace Movement crazy. Hillary just says anything she wants to.

  12. I get MoveOn.org stuff in the inbox and participate in their petitions, etc. When they sent around a poll asking who I supported as the DEM nominee, I answered Barak Obama.
That was how MoveOn concluded that they were going to endorse him. There was a vote. A majority wanted to endorse Obama.
Clinton is backing the wrong tree. Now she is shooting her chances to lead in the Senate by causing all of this nastiness.
She ought to run for governor of NY and be done with the beltway. Oh Wait. That is where she and the DLC have already promised their undying influence to special interests….am I right Tommy Carper?

  13. Tom Carper says:

Yeah. That’s it in a nutshell.

The Losership council will now try to get the VP spot or the DNC chairmanship.
